Why is it that when a girl sleeps with different guys (even if she DOESN'T have a boyfriend) she's labled as a whore & when a guy does it (even if they HAVE a girlfriend) they're *the shit*... what do u guys think about this?

an even better question is Why is it still that way? as with almost every facet of our society, its root cause is classical conditioning. teach your son and daughter differently and it will change. i learned differently, i am self educated

If people sleep around with others that sleep around, and everybody knows the motives and behavior of the other, I guess there's no foul---other than being a huge repository of every STD on the planet, of course...lol.
 But if you sleep around and lie about it to a partner that wants monogamy, you're just plain scum.
That goes for either gender, btw.

i gave my 1st post here a little more thought. is the female or the male responsible for continuing tradition of the female whore? perhaps we should decide who to focus our retraining efforts on. logic implies it is the female because she has the primary duties of child rearing. cause at my house, if mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy.

Why would one care what someone thinks of your sexlife. I personally dont sleep around,,,never have,,,but if I did...or do...I wouldnt care what anyone said. I am living my life, not someone elses.

The substructure of this social control is so fundamental that we are normally unaware of it unless we listen for it, and watch for it. Its in language like whore, slut and bitch (try and think of a word referring to males where something is said about the male being some sort of animal in rut), or all the rituals of things like marriage (why don't mothers give away son's if fathers' give away daughters?) or Catholic priesthood and so on.
Women brought the apple to Adam in the religious foundations of patriarchy in western culture. She tempted Adam to fall from God's grace. So...she is the weak link, and must be controlled. Men had harems in the old testament, or many wives, but can anyone name the women who had multiples of husbands?
So if you find behavior fun, pleasant or whatever, that leads others to call you whore...listen for the herd and their mooing...they want you to feel the shock of the fence, and come back to chewing the cud of tradition, control and dysfunction.

Good sound sociology in observed's post.Basically it's a stupid double standard,one of many in society.I think I can offer some explanation on why it persists,though.It takes work and effort for a guy to have multiple sex partners.He must have game,he must be able to spin the right lines and know how to attract women.A woman on the other hand, merely has to be available and let it be known that she is.It doesn't take anywhere near as much effort..This is why the guy who beds many women is a "stud" and is the envy of his peers and a woman who does same is a "slut".Stupid yes,but that's herd menatlity for you.

Good point Thor...but the female is to work also by being highly attracting, while barely available.
It is in part the socilized role of 'coy' where a woman is not to appear too eager, that we then get the common male perspective of..."her words say 'no no' but her eyes say 'yes yes'...and her cleavage, camel toe, mini-skirt, tight top, blah and blah and blah... Because the dating 'game' is that she is to play hard to get, and he is to play hard to get her.
That's why I decided blow up dolls were a lot less confusing. They don't saying anything since their mouth is constantly in that strange 'O' form....
like...what's with that???

How old are you again? Do you really believe that or were you just trying to inject life into this thread?
If you do believe what you wrote above is true, let me suggest you try a little experiment.
1. Take a trip to your local bar/club/music venue/whatever on a Friday or Saturday night.
2. Stay until the ugly lights come on at closing time.
3. Look at the ratio of men to women who are still there and watch to see who's leaving with whom.
4. Now, look at who's left, both male and female.
Let's just make the math easy...the ones who are still there, and alone, are 50% men and 50% women.
I can guarantee you -- GUARANTEE you -- that among those 50% women still there, some of them are not only available, they've made it clear they're available and they're still going home alone. And that's not including the ones who would never consider a one-night stand.
That's also true for the men who are left. I can GUARANTEE you that some of them are ready, willing and able and they're still going home alone.
Why? Take your pick.
1. No one was interested.
2. If someone was attracted to another person, s/he didn't have the guts to act on it.
3. Fill in the blank.
It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman, you have to make an effort to be attractive to the opposite sex. You don't automatically get male (or female) attention just because you have a vagina and aren't afraid to use it.
Poor, downtrodden, overworked men....having to do all the work to attract female attention when all a woman has to do is walk outside and say "I'm ready! Come get me!"
Geez...somebody tell the fashion, makeup and skincare industries, would you? They're wasting all their time and money marketing to women when they should be paying much more attention to men, since they obviously have to do all the work.
