while drinking with friends the other day, someone decided to play "How many people have you had sex with/"
When we got to my girlfriend - she said 60...
I had no idea - in fact I thought it had been far fewer than that. I suppose ti shouldn't be important - but this is REALLY bothering me.
What should I do?

While you're waiting for your test results, count up how many women with whom YOU'VE had sex.
If she's the same age as you are (as stated in your profile) and started having sex at the age of 20, it works out to less than 4 men each year. Even less if she had sex earlier.
Seems a little excessive to me, but considering the prevailing attitude of those your age, I suspect it's not quite as unusual as you might think.

And, just because someone has a higher "number" than you like doesn't mean diddly! ALOT of people were wild and crazy in their younger day. What counts is her behavior now.
Yes, of course you should both be screened for STD's if you haven't already but by no means should you "run like hell." She's your girlfriend now and as long as you are loving and faithful to one another then it doesn't matter.
Wondering how this thread would be viewed if HE were the one that had been with 60 people?

thanks for the responses - I don't think I'm gonna run like hell though... 
to fill in the blanks - yes she is my age (36). A couple of years ago she got out of a 10 year marriage - during which she says she was faithful. We have been together for about a year.
So that leaves a period of 5 or 6 years during which she was with 50+ men. It just doesn't fit with what I knew about her so I was quite stunned to hear it.
I have no intention of breaking up over this - but now and then it just pops into my head and really does bug me - not really sure WHY it bugs me - and that is really what my question is about. How do I deal with MY issues about this?

If it doesn't fit what you know about her, it may show some personal growth on her part. Are you the same guy you were 10+ years ago? Probably not! Does knowing her "number" make you feel a little a little insecure, perhaps? Just remember: she chose you no matter what her past experiences have been.

Well, could be she was, at some point, a rather "wild child" and exaggerated somewhat simply for effect.
If I were you I'd just focus on her behaviors NOW and let it go. Like has been said, she's chosen to be with you and if she is capable of being faithful, what more can you ask?

I hope that you CAN come to terms with it-if she is good enough for you stay with, you have to clear the air so it doesn't come up to haunt you in the future. If it's bothering you enough to ask advice, then I hope you will talk to HER about your feelings.

thanks again for the replys. You have all written the same things that I tell myself whenever these thoughts crop up... i.e. it's all in the past - makes no difference in terms of her relationship with me now, etc. I've even taken the tact that since she has been with numerous men before, there is no reason for there ever to be a 'curiosity' factor, or a feeling that maybe she missed out on something...
but it is re-assuring to hear these same thoughts from others. I'll use these posts as reinforcement if I do start being bothered by these thoughts going forward.

can put a number on a subject like that...over your life span....memories are memories and let it go at that.
