I'm 47 and really wish sucking on a person's neck didn't leave marks coz it feels sooooooooo good, giving or receiving
I personally have always liked getting and giving hickies. To me its not necesserily the marks but the pleasure in giving and getting them. When you suck on someones neck and do it in a way so it wont leave a mark, you miss out on a lot of the intensity of what you can do if your not worried about leaving a mark.
I know some people see this as marking someones territiory. But doesnt wedding and promise rings, romantic jewelry (like heart shaped necklaces) tell people your taken too? Also how many of you ladies snuggle up a lot closer to your man when their is a attractive female present? Your sending the signal that this is your territory.

High school seems to be the stopper. But I'm tellin' ya, it feels so good to get them and love to give them. Just gotta keep them out of site. Wish we could do the action and not have the end result, especially on the neck.

I have to agree that I don't care for hickies above the collar. Most of the time I either wear a turtleneck sweater or collared shirt if there is a mark. However, I cannot hold it against my lovah (nice word ladies) as I bruise very easily. He can be as gentle as possible, but if he sucks my neck at all, there is usually a tell tale mark. I try to highly encourage suckling a bit below the collar...

Suck on something else I mean someone...grr I don't like hickeys or men who feel they need to mark me sheesh I always wonder if they plan on scent marking next...

To all you Hickey loves that Loath the Mark, follow this logical thinking.
1st. Science tells us that they are cause by the rupturing of capilaries near the epidermal skin layers allowing excess blood to go where it ain't supposed to. 
2nd. If you drain all the blood from your "partner in crime", then you can do the nasty, suck all you want, anywhere you want, and when you're all sucked out, you repalce the blood in a timely manner and like magic hse or he has no unsightly body marks.
3rd. Oh, I almost forgot.  Retain a good lawyer first.  But that would make the previous first 2nd and so on, you get the idea...

haha my mother would of killed me in highschool if I ever came home with one, besides I always thought "hickey" was another word for "caught".  Nevertheless, I would imagine late teens to early twenties would be the oldest.

It's so tacky when you see kids walking around with them all over their necks. It seems like every time I go to McD's every cashier has a ton of big ole nasty blood marks and they parade them around.
But hidden hickeys are a different story
