I just read about that other thread about makeup, of course makeup can be deceiving but what about closing? What a wonderful way to conceal imperfections (yes I am trying to be nice). Do you think that we should have picture of our self naked in our profile so other could be the judge of the merchandise we are trying to sell?

I am not speaking about porn pictures just pictures of naked people, nothing arousing just a statement of fact. Three pictures, front side and rear.
Do you go to the grocery shop with out looking at the fruits you are planning to take home? Sometime the best looking one are not the most tasteful, but some eat as much with their eyes as they do with their mouth.

Sure, If I was advertising my body for sale I'd post a pic on my profile......however I'm not trying to attract men who only want that part of me so I never post pics of my body. Kinda makes me think of auctioning cows off at a 4-H fair or something similar.

Sure, If I was advertising my body for sale I'd post a pic on my profile......however I'm not trying to attract men who only want that part of me so I never post pics of my body. Kinda makes me think of auctioning cows off at a 4-H fair or something similar.
Your body is part of who and what you are. As you may use your mind and spirit you can use your body. Attracting suitable partner is one of the purposes of dating site. We are promoting our self and I am a believer of truthfulness and full disclosure in advertising.
Actually your comparison to live stock market is a good one, a farmer does not only look at the teeth, or general proportion of the animal, he also look at the characters of the animal, what do you think we are doing on this site? We are looking for a we are both the farmer and the animal, both the taker and, possibly, the taken.
A body is not a shameful thing, tall or short, fat or skinny it is what it is.

when I read this...It makes me wonder why....why someone could place so much importance regarding a ... way to conceal imperfections
Yes her pride in her appearance is important.. along with her concern for her health..
Her intelligence is also right up there... along with her personality..
One of the most important though is trust...
But I must say that I go with my emotions more than anything else... that feeling in my gut every time I think about her...
so.....

No....If I was buying a product, piece of meat or produce..I would not be here... therefore naked pictures of members at large is not anything I would want to see ..
 ( but there are a few women here that I would like to get naked with..I will give you that... ( and they know who they are...nuff said about that...))

Just because something is available does not mean that you have to look at it. I, for one find difficult to decipher what people write about themselves. I think that one of the purposes of dating site is to find a matte, not a ghostly one, a corporal one. Pictures would make shopping more convenient.

It does not matter why, they just it. People wear hearings, tattoos, long or short hair, makeup or not. They want to please and project a define image of themselves. Human are social animals they do not act in a vacuum but in function of their surrounding.

...why do people (you) put so much importance on what a woman looks like when her clothes (and ..earings, tattoos, long or short hair, makeup . come off... )

and, no-marketing nudity is not the way to start a relationship.IMO
