or other stds? I know it may be a good laugh for many, but what if a girl/guy you were really into told you they had one...would you bolt or stick around? Reason I am asking is a girl I work with contracted herpes through her ex while he was screwing around on her...she met a dude they got married and it made me think...how that takes one hell of a person or love for someone to do such.

I understand that but you dont LOVE someone when you first meet them...you may be fond of them...I would hope they would tell their partner before it turned into LOVE.

I hung out with a gal I worked with, we probably would have become friends with benefits, but when she told me she had herpes, it really gave me a reality check, I knew I really wanted a relationship, and she was not the one for me.........I have not had a one night stand since...........Thank goodness she was honest enough to tell me before hand........

if i was getting involved with a guy and he told me after the fact that he had an std...and knew all along,  protected sex or not...he would be getting kicked in the nuts to remind him the next time he pulled that shit with another woman....

Yes, one would tell them before sex was involved (duh)...whether that sex involved love or not. I guess it depends on what's right for the individuals involved, but I don't think anyone should hafta wear the Scarlet Letter around their neck!

I agree with ya...I have even came across a few profiles on here who it was just put out there take it or leave it at least there will be no surprises later. Its hard for me to say because ive never been in that situation.

Sadly, in this day and age, STDs are a part of life. They don't define a person. I think a lot of people diagnosed with STDs take sex and relationships a little more...seriously? There's a certain personal responsibility they take on...hopefully.

Absolutely, the girl i work with is nothing close to being a whore or skank whatever you want to call it. I am lucky I have never gotten one from when I was younger...as many people are. At 18/19 you really dont think about that...It could never happen to you....what is even scarier is those who do not get tested and go around not knowing!

 would I date a woman who told me that she had herpes....yes..
The assumption would be that I wanted to date her..
would I have sex with that same woman...the answer is the same as any non-herpes date...no sex until we know that we are in a relationship...
I'm thinking that some guys here are too ready to stick "mr willy" into the nearest available glory hole.. whereas others are never going to ( read: all talk..)..
BTW....I have been in such a situation..but as there was no committed relationship..there was no penetrating sex..... but there were plenty of fun dates...

I have yet to meet anyone with an admitted STD but I still took precautions.
To answer the OP, I have no idea how I would feel if someone was upfront and admitted she had herpes…just thinking about it I mumble “ok, no sex”.

youre right you dont die from herpes, however would you be willing to put your genitals at risk to find out that person may not be the one? You end up contracting it and then what? Not saying everyone feels that way but i can certainly understand how one could.

Rubbers are not protection against Herpes, the little blisters can be on other areas than the penis/vagina. If you have blisters on your balls, for instance, you could infect your partner even though you are wearing a rubber. It's also possible to spread Herpes through oral contact.

Herpes? No....jeese, I regret getting a tattoo with someone's name on it, and it's not gonna make anything fall off. 
Honestly, if you've ever had the priviledge of doing swabs for STD's, or contact tracing on all people likely infected, all thoughts of a one night stand are gone. Hell, I think I'd need a history from a dildo if I ever bought one. Green foul smelling discharge is pretty gross...
As for herpes, the antivirals to prevent outbreaks are pretty hard on a body. FYI...and you can still get it if the person is asymptomatic.
Oh, and most of you have probably already had sex with someone with Herpes. Cold sores are Herpes, and they can appear below the belt as genital chancres. They are not significantly different, and present the same.
