How long is too long?

Is there a point in a relationship that you SHOULD have sex whether your ready or not? I mean is there a point where one could wait too long and perhaps inadvertently doom the relationship to a friendship. I don't want that to happen, but I want to take things slow in this relationship.

Just communicate these thoughts to your friend and see what kind of feedback he gives you. But in all instances be real, be sure, and be truthful!

Tough one... if you have sex before you are ready.. you may do more damage then good... and if you wait too long, you could be missing out on becoming closer.... there is no set time to be ready.. just go with your instincts and trust your gut feeling. You will know when it is the "right" time

Well not to sound like an uptight fuddy duddy, but if you will remember there was a time that people waited until marriage, so there is no waiting "too long", or dooming something to just friendship. If it is meant to be, then the connection will be there without the sex.

Is there a point in a relationship that you SHOULD have sex whether your ready or not? IMO it depends on why someone is not ready to have sex... but usually..if you are not ready to..the best course it to just say no..and talk to them about why you are not ready..

Yes... unless you both have no issues about having sex with someone who is involved with someone else.. no sex (talking about after a long while here ) = a platonic relationship and leaves the door open for other relationships to develop.

IMO.... Sex is to be fully as well as totally enjoy by both parties involved not as a bench mark on where a relationship is or is not. If one is ready and the other isn't maybe the libido of the two are not compatible??

I don't understand why the view on relationships is so black-and-white...like if we wait too long to have sex...we become friends. As if sex is vital to a relationship...feelings and emotion are not enough, in order to be together, you must have sex, or you are just friends.
I don't understand it.
I think the only way things could go wrong is if one person's sex drive is extremely low and the other's is way out of control.
