I personnally think it is if the "you" ,as an individual, can cope with it...if you look deep inside and come to a conclusion, that no matter how hard you want to , you could never be happy or fall in love with a person with a disability, then possibly trying to make it work might not be a good idea. I mean not only do you want to be happy and loved, but so do people with disabilities...it's all in ones personal preference....JMHO

I met a man on here with a spinal cord injury...we went out several times and I consider him a good friend. It wasn't the chair that stopped us from having a relationship...there were things about "us" that wouldn't work...I think that, as long as a person is totally open with the fact that they have a disability, it shouldn't be a problem. There will be some that are just not interested and some that are...no different than other characteristics....

As we age, we all will have something "different" or disabling about us.
Could I? It depends on the person's own handling of their disability.

I have a particular and singular story to tell.
Some months ago I was at the wedding of my best friend.
At my table there was a couple: he is disabled since he was born.
he is tetraplegic, he speaks with eyes only , he cant eat or drink alone, he cant move from his wheelchair ....
Since 7 years he is engaged with a normal woman (sorry for the word "normal"...I just would like to give you the idea) who helps him in everything.
After 7 years she would like to marry him.....but he refused to marry her.

I can understand him and his cares about their future....in the meanwhile I'm thinking that they are living together for 7 years....and she is very involved and much in love.

Why not to look at the bright side? Disability also means - disability to cheat as well as less likeliness to get into impulsive shopping or to turn the partner into "golf /fishing/sports widow" or spend nights in strip-bars . So, as long as it's not about using partner to save on personal nurse's/aid's/housekeeper's fees , disabled person might be much better partner than regular type.

Being disabled doesn't necessarily mean not having 2 arms, legs and a body...it just might not all work properly!!! As for conversation...who said anything about mentally disabled???

want her to TALK

Alright. Fair, but two of my very good friends are "disabled" (I hate calling them this, as they have both fought very hard in their life for the little they have...that is NOT a disability!)...one has spina bifida and the other has cerebral palsy.

The one with spina bifida is a hockey player, a wrestler, and is thinking about becoming a special education teacher.

The one with cerebral palsy graduated with honours from high school and is currently attending a very prestigious and exclusive art school in New Hampshire that only accepts a minimal amount of students a semester.

They are both eloquent, intelligent individuals with a positive outlook on life, a fighting spirit, and a stronger will than most "capable" individuals I know.

Most of this is more than I could EVER say for myself, and I am "able-bodied".

Because of the fluid nature of life the idea that we can control it is an illusion.
This means that any of us could be disabled tomorrow, eg car crash, freak accident etc, somethings happen beyond what we can affect.
The reality is disability is not them, but could be us anytime, and most likely will be us at the end of life.
Disability is a life experience that we will all experience at some point.
We are all the same,so why use it as a reason to not be with someone.
