I went to a free lunch (YAY!) and seminar today at the local hospital. It was on FSD, Female Sexual Dysfunction. Extremely interesting. I found out many facts that I never knew: FSD affects 30-50% of all American women 43% of American women complain they have lost interest in sex or it's not as enjoyable as it used to be. 60% of middle aged women describe a loss of sexual desire, responsiveness, or frequency.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? And congratulations if you are not one of those statistics. Those that are can be so confused about everything.

Just wondering what the age range was for their statistics...
(nope, not one of the statistics these days, but back in my younger days, when I was consumed with caring for aging parents, teenaged offspring and developing a career, I had zero interest in sex...I always wonder about these things, how much relates to age and how much to stage -- of life that is).

The doctor that spoke said that men have mainly 3 things on their minds: sex, sex, sex! While with women, sex is down at number 10-12 or even lower. Too many things interfere with our sex drive, esp. stress. For guys, sex is a stress reliever, for us, him wanting sex just adds to the stress! It was very interesting. The seminar was for women in middle age on up, but as far as the stats go, I don't know what the age range is (or if there even is a range.)

Sorry....
There is a down side you know. Ever heard the phrase "all dressed up and no where to go?"

LOL Whata!!
There are 4 components to FSD: Desire disorder: not in the mood Arousal disorder: trouble with becoming lubricated and/or sexual sensations are diminished. Orgasmic disorder: difficulty achieving orgasm or doesn't have them at all. Pain disorder: pain during intercourse.
I was impressed with how openly it was all discussed and the questions some of the women asked.

Kenn we could use you as an example--the doctor compared men's sex drives like a light switch. I'ts either on or off. Women were compared to the engines of very expensive cars--lots of bells, whistles, and buttons. Takes some work to figure out which button, bell or whistle you need in different circumstances!
In other words, sexually, most men and women are totally different. That's where the communication comes in.And ladies, if you don't know which bells, buttons or whistles to work, you need to indulge in some "play time". Just you, without your SO. Find out what works for you, what feels good so you can relay it to your SO.

Sounds like a very interesting conference, Sign!
I do think often women are the caregivers, cooks, housecleaners. I wonder what the statistics would be on 50/50 versus say, 80/20 partnership in the home.

Definitely. There is no universal way to get any individual woman’s engine warmed up, all women are different.
And to the Guys, it’s not just about your pleasure, your job as a good mate is to figure out what pleases her, and what fun that is.

There are good ones that will recognize the why behind a lack of desire, and work on it without being asked. Others that will change their approach if they know WHY a gal is not "in the mood"
The rest? Who knows....it's too bad our communication lacks something....
