For the women...
Which birth control med gives you the least side effects? I mostly do not want mood swings, cramping in my breasts, or water retention, or headaches...I don't know why I ask though, everything gives me side effects...
I know, condoms for safety, no lecture needed. I don't think they are 100% tho. Too many condom babies running around.

If you are sure you're done wanting babies, a Tubal is the way to go...I had it done over 15 years ago, I do still use condoms for the STD factor, but I haven't had a single day of regret since, and it is a relatively simple procedure, in and out the same day, and the scars are teeny...

Oh, no babies for me...Not in this world!
Can there be complications from the tubal? I hear stuff here and there about chronic cramps for hormonal problems afterwards. But it could just be hooey.
Thanks for the info on the tubal, I thought it was a little rougher than that.

You feel like you were hit in the belly with a combat boot...for a DAY, that's all. It's the CO2 that they use to pump up your belly for a clearer field.
Hormonal doesn't enter into it: ovaries aren't touched! All they do is block or break the fallopian tubes to prevent eggs from getting down (and being fertilized). The released eggs are absorbed by MotherNature.
Even though it's technically abdominal surgery, it's probably one of the least invasive, least complicated things done in the operating room. It's strictly a MECHANICAL procedure...nothing at all to do with hormones, menstrual cycles or libido (except that you feel FREE!! Free from worry and the "what if" thing that hangs over every fertile woman's head)

Being pregnant with twins @ 39 (born 9 days after I turned 40) & having 3 kids @ home already, I KNEW I would have to permanently end the chances of ever again reproducing...
Ultrasounds showed my silly girl was sitting butt down & her brother was hanging over her head so a C-Section was scheduled...
And you'd better believe I had all the right forms signed, witnessed, copied, in the chart & in the OR before I went in. I was a labor & delivery nurse @ the hospital so my friends were in the room & I made sure I SAW the pieces of tube as they were removed....
"Here's your left one, Jennifer....Here's the right one".

Now THAT'S what I call "incentive"! ...sure beats mine -- delivering my IUD along with my early (yet healthy) son.

Condoms certainly for health reasons, but not for prevention: I split so many condoms in my younger years that I lost count.

Well, there's always "double bagging".
(And I have a feeling that in his 'younger years', China was even more a "bull" than most of us will ever experience )

Sometimes I wonder if they don't break because of the women not being "ready" yet? I dunno...

My sister tried every form of BC to no avail...she still got pregnant....four times!!
She said she's finally found one that works real well. Take the little white BC pill and hold it in place between your knees...don't drop it for nothin'!! Makes walkin a lil' awkward, but really works great....with little side effects other than crampy legs!!
* Sorry Sjp...couldn't resist!!

Is it still considered sex after all that???? UGH
Do people really "double bag it"? What do the men have to say about that? Does it turn them off?

Condoms are 99% effective at preventing pregnancy and most STD's WHEN USED CORRECTLY.. which are the key words. Yes there is slippage, there is breakage, but usually if the two people both know what they are doing, then they're typically protected against most things. There's stll the potential of passing on herpes etc that are carried along places where a condom doesn't cover, but there's really nothing you can do to prevent the passage of those other than not have sex.
Double-bagging as it is called.. bad idea, heightens the breakage rate of condoms.
Birth control.. can't help you on kinds, I've never taken any and never plan to. But I do think it's something you should be comfortable talking to with your doctor and ask him/her their professional opinion about the best kind and also get recommendations from close female friends. There's also possibly referral places online to read testimonials from women, though who knows if those are true or made up by the company.
Good luck.

The BC method that comes with the fewest side effects (that I've observed) is my vasectomy.
After a very brief procedure, Big Dave & The Twins are no longer shooting with live ammo.
