Ok, let me make it clear I am not a Scientologist or a follower of any religion for that matter. I live and let live.
But recently this new form of religion has got a lot of bad news and bashing becuase its too "sci-fi" amongst other reasons...
Why? Believing (<-spelling?) in aliens considered to be a stupid idea when none of us have ever seen an angel, devil or god for that matter?
For any who don't know what I am talking about look up on wikipedia about scientology.
I respect other people so don't take this as an offensive message, I just want to hear some opinions.

I happen to believe the aliens are angels, or most of them, for that matter. Although I'm a Christian, I also think I would be vain to believe we are the only planet in the universe that sustains some form of life.
I thought I had recently read that Scientology didn't begin as a religion. It began as a fiction novel, or some kind of movie script. Does anyone know anything about this?

I decided to do some research on my own about any connection of Aliens to Biblical. I almost fell off my chair with some stuff I was reading... I just shook my head and said unbelievable! Good thing I wasn't eating my dinner at the time, I would have choked.

You reminded me, there's some whacko man claiming to be Jesus. He drives around in a Mercedes, and he has three Rolex watches, all gifts. He says the gift giving is similar to when Jesus washed the feet of the apostles, and to deny such a gift would be an insult.
He has a s-load of followers. How can people believe this nonsense? His beliefs are completely in opposition to biblical teachings. Talk about aliens...they're living amongst us.

Tyranny,
I knew it was L. Ron Hubbard, but did he initially write the book as a script? Or was it a fiction book? I really thought I had heard the book was not meant to introduce a new religion, but it became a popular cult influence.
Sobobo Hot Springs has a huge Scientology spread. It covers a lot of acreage, and it is quite impressive. One thing I will say, their grounds are very well-kempt.
While doing a search, about six months ago, I came across a hush-hush story about a woman who met her death at Soboba. She supposedly went into an underground electrical generator room, and she was trying to get a squirrel out that had gotten trapped inside. Sounded like bunk to me. For one thing, the cover was latched tight, prior to, so how could a squirrel get in there? I found a few articles about it. Very peculiar. There were hintings she had been trying to leave the cult.

L. Ron Hubbard were a Science Fiction author before he came up with the "Religion", guess it's up to everyone to have an opinion if if still was when he did it
I do think the threads initial questions is very valid and interesting. Why is it so astonishing that they have followers? Compare it to Christianity for example? They both claim extraordinary things with very little (or none) to back it up. The only real difference is a couple of thousand years of history but that don't make something more valid.

But what really asstounds me...lol, is there are actually followers! People are so gullable truely they are! i'm not really all that up on Scientology. Can i trouble to you perhaps make mention of some of the specifics of Scientology, the specifics of which you feel people are asses (implied) for following?
i'm wondering if it's perhaps possible that God/Goddess cares more about the pure devotion that exists within someone's heart as opposed to whatever mantra/ritual/scripture they follow on the outside.
thank you

I not either "Sirdidy"...I just posted a reply to Classy's post before mine on her first paragraph. When Jesus comes back again, me thinks it will be more spectacular than driving a mercedes! I don't think he needs one watch, let alone 3...

I knew what you meant, Angel, but I thought it best to let you answer for yourself.
Pretty crazy, eh? They actually dedicated part of a show to this guy, but it was not to uplift him. It was showing what a mockery it was, and I completely agree. For one thing, we know we will meet Jesus in the clouds when he returns. That right there screams, "FALSE PROPHET"!!!
Humpe,
Thanks for responding to my question. I guess I could do a little research and see what I come up with. If I find anything worthwhile, I'll post it here.

Wondering if anyone every heard of Aleister Crowley. If not, you can read about him here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleister_Crowley
Some say he proclaimed himself as God. He was the founder of Thelmaism. Is Mother even called him the beast of Revelation book while he was growing up.
