I am a Reiki practitioner. I have lots of experience with chakra work. It is very healing and rewarding work. I am highly sensitive to the energy of the chakras and have been since childhood.

In our part of the world they dwell in the lower branches of shrubs and in tall grass. What a beautiful bird this is.

Sorry for this off topic post but I suddenly longed for the bushveld and all its beautiful inhabitants one of which is called a Chakra.

I'm wondering about the halo we often see in the older religious pictures...a circle surrounding the head

I know I could google Chakra....but could you attempt a ''definition for dummies"...something simple I could relate to

I've stayed away from learning about things like this but perhaps now is the time.

Perhaps I'm now at a time in my life where I won't be confused about what I learn.....

I just googled.....whew...tooo much info.....gotta save my brain batteries for the basics.

How about we start simple....re the colour of auras and their significance.

And...you remind me of me Knots...asking for other people's experiences and not telling us yours.
I'd be very interested in hearing your personal experience with....hmmmm....starting simple..." auras"

This is interesting "carpe" on the halo you mentioned. In the 4th century it started with the Greeks and Rome. Greek meaning (Glory) In Christianity, paintings of Saints, Jesus, Virgin Mary and Apostles were painted in portraits with a yellow round light around their heads that presented their holyness. This derived from Moses when he came down from Mt. Sinai and his face was all aglow.

The halo has been widely used in Buddhist iconography as well since at least the 1st century AD. In Zen Buddhism, ink brush paintings also commonly use the halo in depictions of saints such as Bodhidharma.

In Pure Land Buddhism the halo is used in depicting the image of Amida Buddha. Tibetan Buddhism uses halos extensively in the Thangka paintings of Buddhist saints such as Milarepa and Padmasambhava.

I find the Rainbow is a Chakra in all it's glory of natural beauty!

healing touch is accepted now in many hospitals in the u s, it is becomming more understood, in hospitals in canada now also. it is reconized by the nurses assocation. in the u s . it is very intersting, and can also be self adminstered, and involves using the chakras.
healing, and pain control also, i have my level 1 in it,(was going to take level 2 last spring, but broke my leg, so i'll have to do it another time) there are 5 levels, something to really look into, for cronic pain.
pain after sugery, it is helpful, and with illness that have pain , such as M S. fibermiliga., and others. ..
each chakra chanell, is a color, and it opens the chanells to let enegry flow free, close your eyes, relax, deep breath, relax, then,
try rubbing your hands together,, to get the enegery flowing, then move your hands apart slow,, feel the energy, it will form, like a ball, or oval, draw your hands outward slow, till you feel it cool, then move them back together, till you feel the warm enegry, with eyes closed, you can feel the shape of the enegry . i can move my hands over your body, not touching you, keeping my hands about 3 inches from you, and feel the engry, and hot spots, where it is not flowing free, then with clearing, i can allow it to flow, and remove pain. it is very intersting.

the arua around a person is engery, the colors that one may see, tells much about a person, giving reciptive, i'm trying to rember what the gold/yellow is, i'll have to look it up. greens, blues also. all have meaning.
sorry this is so long....

I'm a Quantum-Touch practitioner. We do a thing in Super-Charging where we spin the chakras really fast and bring the 8th through 12th into the body for amplified energy. Quantum-Touch isn't a religion or a spiritual practice. It's an energy healing modality. You can use your religion or spirituality in conjunction with it, of course. Richard Gordon, founder, says that if you have friends in high places, you should use them.

This has been a very interesting post. Thank you. I had a Reiki treatment on my arm -- my practitioner was a Catholic nun. After she retired from school teaching, she went back to school herself for Reiki. In her view, Reiki is extremely tied to her faith, Christ's healing touch.

Yep, healing energy -- everybody's doin' it and calling it by different names. Chi, Qi, Prana, mana, Holy Spirit or just energy. It works with or without religion or spirititualism.

I'm so sorry. This is a fault of mine. When i talk of my own experiences then people think I am crazy. More importantly, those with true powers are usually very reluctant to show or talk of them. There are laws too that if i spoke of them will open up to so many questions that even i can not explain them.

There are reasons why we as simple physical human beings with a spiritual mind amongst the many 'bodies' we have can only do certain things on this plane. When we dwell into other plains, understand certain 'phenomena' want for a better word then we do come under laws. e.g. There are, lets say "Angels' that protect certain things and there are consequences when they are not protected. This isn't to say things are denied. This isn't so. It is just that when we are ready we receive. To give something to someone when they are not ready is analogous to giving a child a loaded gun to play with or a box of matches with some petrol.

In Pure Land Buddhism the halo is used in depicting the image of Amida Buddha. Tibetan Buddhism uses halos extensively in the Thangka paintings of Buddhist saints such as Milarepa and Padmasambhava.

This 'halo' represents the rainbow body of light. Milarepa and Padmasambhava (happens to be my lineage of buddhism), is tantric buddhism and chakras play an important part.
The crown chakra is associated with violet light and white light. It can also emanate prominant light from other chaka centres.

Using the crown chakra to eminante and receive white light is extremely important and brings us into being with all the Buddhas that ever existed and exist today. Also our own buddha nature.

As a visual technique it is extremely important.

My purpose of the thread wasn't really to say much about my own "tantric buddhism" but to see away to reflect on all belief systems that use chakras. The kabalah is interesting, Hindus is similar to buddhism, and more recently many healing teachings and schools are developing along the lines of chakras but not so much on the religions.
There does not seem to be any friction between anyone.

The Gold halos and the reasoning behind buddhist monks and some hindus to wear gold has been said over time that it is because the crown chakra and sometimes said the aura is pure when gold coloured. Personally I have never seen or heard any reasoning behind this in authority.

I am sure the "halo" came about because of the crown chakra. In my opinion it became a gold colour because artists prefer the rich gold colour as a warm contrast. Also originally iconic paintings were made on gold leaf. Gold being the most valuable and easy accessible material for painting on worthy of religious works.
Buddhists monks robes are because of saffron staining of throw away materials. They just dyed them more evenly and buddhist robes can come in many shades, also maroon, black and grey. White for novice. So nothing holds true there.
