"War Cry"
...you might as well rename the R&S Thread the "Christian" Thread because it is becoming this way or War Cry.
Why can't people discuss subjects in here without having to be told about Jesus, God and what is righteous in every thread and in nearly every post?
Fine, t have some "Christian" threads but it is becoming a constant headache.
Wouldn't mind if we could get some "intellectual thinking" involved. All we get is scripture and repetitive dogma.

Hey, thats cool Angel.
I studied them many years ago on my long voyages about the world. There are similarities. Some, that seem extreme have some valid points. For example wearing a screen across their nose and mouth so that they will not breath in insects and harm them.
You might laugh but i hate to walk on grass unless absolutely necessary or weed the garden. I do because it is the norm but reluctantly and with a heart felt sadness.
Reminds me of the native americans that speak of the grass and how it is hurt by man.
What do you find extraordinary interesting about them so far Angel?

What do you find extraordinary interesting about them so far Angel? There is one that I find extraordinary. They must attain total "self control" to reach Keval Gnan. Self control is one of the most human nature aspects we have.

For example wearing a screen across their nose and mouth so that they will not breath in insects and harm them. Actually it is called a Muhapatti. It is a type of cloth they use. They will only drink water that has been boiled cause of micro-organisms.
Oops! had to correct a misspelled word.

Another thing about Jains is they are considered to be the most educated class in India and treat all life as sacred. All life is sacred even bugs. They consider all living things being capable of being liberated and attaining Moksha , the end to the cycle of reincarnation achieving enlightenment.
When they walk they use a broom to sweep insects away so they don't step on them. Of course they are strict vegetarians but even consider that a form of killing that is wrong. They have nothing but reverence for life because all things as sacred to them. They are beyond good.

Jainism is a very interesting religion and is a break away from Hinduism from about the 7th century BC in Eastern India, as they didn't like the ritualism involved. It was also a time in India where religion was going through a rebirth. An interesting thing is that Mahavira the 24th and last Tirthankara of the era, is regarded as the founder of Jainism. He is believed to have lived from 599 to 527 BC, but other evidence tends towards him being a contemporary of the Buddha in the early part of the 5th century BC. As with most religions, there are a number of factions whose differences mainly revolve around dress.
Its interesting that Mahavira was born into the warrior class, just like the Buddha.

awww... some Christians are great...... so have to leave the Lions to judge.
The Tattvas, Angel mentions above is very much similar to Buddhism. It must be hell at times trying to avoid all the bad karmic actions, the wearing of veils, sieving of drinks etc....
Real dedication.
