"In an era when people invest billions of dollars searching for the next medical breakthrough, more people are turning to faith. While people have always prayed for good health, experts say the number who believe in divine healing is increasing, partly due to the influence of charismatic churches, one of the fastest-growing segments of Christianity." more.
"Any claim of successful treatment, including faith healing, must meet certain criteria. First, it must be established that some type of illness or medical condition actually existed. On any Sunday, revival-tent faith healers and televangelists claim to restore vision to the blind and limb function to the lame. To many people, the sight of wheelchair-bound invalids standing up and walking (or even running) away from their wheelchairs is convincing evidence. But no such miracle healing has been scientifically authenticated. When these cases are investigated, it is often found that the infirmity did not exist or was psychosomatic [2]. Furthermore, the human body has intrinsic healing mechanisms and will frequently recover from illness or injury even when no treatment is rendered. Any claim of successful treatment, medical or otherwise, must therefore account for these factors."

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. -- Albert Einstein
I'm pretty much in the Einstein camp on this one. I think a healthy mixture of both religion and science is a good thing. However, I have been witness to events that conventional science can't explain. This is including people who ,seemingly, use faith to defy the learned scientist and doctors.

I believe God does heal people, sometimes possibly through people-also that he lets others suffer and die. I don't know why, since God is heavier than I am. All the "faith healers" I've seen on TV though, are fake. (benny hinn etc)

I am not religious, I am a Christian, a believer. Science could have done nothing to help me, it was out of reach of the doctors to do more than they already had.

As long as gullibles exist, there will always be Elmer Gantry to feed their delusions. Faith healing is like pissing in the wind. Sometimes it goes where you aim but most of the time it just blows back in your face. Faithing gullibles always overlook the failure rates and make excuses when blowing air doesn't produce results. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
