This will be a new thread where people can contribute posts of news items that appear in the news media that reveal the ridiculous life of the religious. Any religion is welcomed. Please post a link to the published report. Try to refrain from using blogs or private and personal websites because of credibility issues but rather sites that cover the news like Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo news, or any local online paper that publishes the news.

I'm not so interested in posting tragic reports of people dying while exorcism is being performed on them. Thats just very sick and not funny at all. I'd rather focus on the ludicrous, laughable and stupid behavior of the religious such as reported accounts of Jesus appearing on burnt toast or an animal reciting scripture. This should be a challenge because laugher is the goal....

Well, now ladies. Its time to put on your aprons and get yourself back into the kitchen and slave over a hot stove. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is now offering a program in homemaking. Thats right. Cooking, sewing, cleaning, making beds, and shopping.

Even some Christians are laughing at this.
Yet the program is raising eyebrows among some Southern Baptists, who say a degree concentration in how to be a Christian housewife is not useful, and a waste of seminary resources.

My take on this that women are supposed to be subservient to men just like Muslims do. In this day and age its laughable and certainly ridiculous.

"For the wife does not rule over her own body, but the husband does..."
..........1 Corinthians 7:4
"Likewise, you wives, be submissive to your husbands..."
..........1 Peter 3:1
"Thus a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives..."
..........Romans 7:2

When my younger sister was in college, she went to a bridal shower for a high school friend. The friend, a Mormon, was a student at small Mormon college in Idaho (which is now a part of Brigham Young). All female college students were required to take classes in homemaking. She was actually graded on how she made a bed. Is homekeeping an important set of lifeskills? Absolutely. But unless you are studying to become a home ec teacher, than I would agree...a waste of good tution money.

In an effort to present a more balanced cirriculum, Southern Baptist University is now offering a comparable program for potential husbands.

Coursework will include 3 hours of practice in meal preparation criticism, with appropriate remarks for underdone, overdone and meatless entrees ("You call this swill SUPPER? I work my a$$ off all day and THIS is what you throw in front of me?); four hours in remote-control control, reprogramming the television to block undesireable channels like Oprah, soap operas, Maurey, and the history channel while resetting the remote to "one-touch" for NASCAR, football, and the 700 Club (or other putting-on-a-tie-and-going-to-church avoidence alternatives); four hours in clothing destruction, including how to wipe black grease on shirts, pants and guest towels as well as learning how to control the urge to put socks, underwear and towels in the laundry hamper; three hours of instruction in avoiding general homemaking, including what-to-say lessons when faced with the inevitable, "What is it that you DO in that garage for hours at a time?"; three hours in total financial control; three hours in the value of disciplining and intimidating a child and teaching them to fetch snacks, take out the trash, mow the lawn as well as how to convince them that their friends are all scum of the earth; and three hours on scriptural memorization for proselytization and sharing with cronies the advantages of convincing the little wifey that the marriage is based on the "biblical model for the home and family."

Better watch out. They might include honor killings in their more advanced curriculum.

This next contribution meets the criteria for ridiculous religiosity. There is a lot of stupid behavior going on here but much from people at high levels within our government such as former RepTom DeLay, Sen Joe Leibermann, others and religious buffoon John Hagee. John Hagee was reported on by Christine Amanpour, CNN Presents God's Warriors

You gotta hear what these people say. Utterly insane religiosity. While much of it is laughable, its really not funny when you think about it. However, if I met these people in person I would laugh right at them.

Watch this 10 minute video documentary by Max Blumenthal, a journalist.

This is not in the media, but it is something funny I did many years ago.

Long ago and far away, I worked in a grocery store in a small town. Surrounding this town were many church camps and come summer they all shopped at my store and they all had charge accounts.

One day a lady from the Assembly of God made her purchases and I was checking her groceries out. When making out the charge form for her to sign, I tried to abbreviate Assembly of God. You can imagine how it came out. I snickered a little. The lady was NOT amused!

How about filling in the blanks for those who saw that damaging and very revealing report by Blumenthal but are too frightened to comment on it?

Jesus made his way across Russia and Siberia to Aomori in the far north of Japan where he became a rice farmer, married, had a family and died peacefully at the age of 114.
Thats a hell of a long walk. It reminds me of Kwai Chang Caine from Kung Fu who walked to American from China.

This statement seems to make sense to the legend.
"I suppose that many Japanese people feel respect for Jesus and the Bible," said the pastor. "The legend ties in with that. Perhaps it shows that people are looking to make a connection with Jesus in some way."
However the Japanese do some really nutty things like the festival where they ride huge logs down hills. You gotta see it to believe it.

Let me add to the legend. Since Jesus was a fisherman, he taught the Japanese how to fish and thats where Sushi came from.

Oh sorry; I should have posted about the writting part of it which goes into more added detail. Not the blogs, but those are interesting.

Hey, I have a question though...since the The Unauthorized Christians United for Israel Tour is supposively non-denominational (am I correct on this?), if this is true, then my question is how come the "Christians United for Israel" leader, Hagee called for denominational support? I just thought of this when I read about it on wiki.

I'm not sure if I understand your question. The wiki entry says Hagee called out to 400 leaders of various denominations. The conference in the video was attended mainly by evangelicals. http://www.cufi.org/site/PageServer is the official site for CUFI.

I was more focused on Blumenthal's video and the lunacy it exposes. What we have is a group of Zionist Christians supporting Jewish Zionism for their own religious reasons. The Jews want their own land and thats understandable. The story of Zionism is complex. There are issues on how Jews got their land and how Arabs got displaced around 1948 when the UN decided on a two state solution. Lots of people got killed and its been a burning feud ever since.

Very brief background
Christians and Jews see Jerusalem as their holy land and thus they form an unholy alliance. Palestinian Arabs also see Jerusalem as holy land too and thats a big threat to the other two. Its a small piece of real estate that religious fanatics on all sides refuse to share. Each claims exclusive ownership purely and solely for religious reasons. Civility and rationality is non-existent.

As for the unholy alliance between Jews and Christians. The Christians couldn't care less about Jewish issues because for over 2000 years they blamed Jews for killing Christ. The Jews are perfectly aware of this sentiment but accept their financial and political support nevertheless. Jews know Christians are a large political body that can be used in their favor. Its a smart strategy actually that can be defined in the old cliche, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend".

There is the perceived threat to the state of Israel by statements made by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad about wiping Isreal off the map. Hagee wants a preemptive nuclear strike attacking Iran and some fanatical Jews like the idea. These are the same fanatical Jews who basically ignore UN resolutions against building new settlements in the West Bank and Gaza. They were told to stop but continue to interlope and so continue to fan the flames of hatred.

The Lunacy
Basically Christians want to kick off Armageddon by starting another Crusades with nuclear weapons. Hagee denies Christian eschatology has a role but but we know thats complete bovine scatology (bullshit). No one is being fooled and certainly not the Jews. The Jews see Iran as an enemy anyway so they're taking advantage of bizarre Christian religiosity.

Christians and their fanatical beliefs say the Antichrist is going to be a man of peace. So if anyone tries to work out a peaceful solution to the Israeli / Arab conflict is going to be considered evil and Antichrist by Christians. Christians don't want peace, they want war and they want nuclear war. In their sick minds, war will bring Jesus back from the dead. These are very sick people, no less sick that Muslim suicide bombers. The only difference is their methods.

Also disturbing in Blumenthal's video was the absolute nauseating, ridiculous statements made by Christians when Blumenthal interviewed them. They're all looking forward to Armageddon. They're praying for the Jewish race. One old fogy made a reference to the Left Behind series. The PR people got disturbed at Max Blumenthal's questions about "end times" theology and told him to stop asking about it. There is a lot of hatred towards Muslims who are regarded as being Satan worshipers.

The ignorant and simplistic minds are self-evident. I very much enjoyed Blumenthal putting Hagee on the spot by asking about Hagee's book "Jerusalem Countdown" where he wrote
It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God's chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day...
This pretty much shows what Hagee and Christians believe about Jews. This caused such an embarrassment to Hagee that Max Blumenthal was kicked out of the conference. Its all there in the video....

We shouldn't forget that Dead Falwell played a huge role in corrupting the peace process in Israel too. It seem this is very much a Christian disease.
