I've actually worked with these guys.I did a TV news special once on the paranormal and spent the night in a restaurant that was supposedly haunted with a paranormal research team.They had their night vision video cameras,thermal imaging equipment,audio recorders and extra sensitive microphones and all night long the watched for stuff to appear on their monitors.
They were less than convincing,to me anyway.The video recordings supposedly showed orbs,which as near as I could tell were most likely dust particles reflecting light back to the cameras,and the audio of what was supposed to be a woman moaning sounded a lot like static to me.
So,assuming there really IS a spirit world,can it be detected using electronic equipment and scientific means?Is parapsychology a valid science,or a pseudo science like Alchemy and Astrology ( no offense to enthusiasts of either discipline)?

Its very easy to see a ghost. Just go into a basement, shut the lights and stare down a dark corridor. The mind loves to create images in the brain and some people are more susceptible than others for these experiences. Some people swear they were abducted by aliens, taken aboard a ship and had experiments done to them. Often these include anal probes. Some wake up while aliens are standing around their bed but they're completely physically paralyzed. Some have said they saw Jesus or the virgin Mary. Some just hear voices. Some are jealous that they don't see ghosts or hear voices or can see Jesus. Its a big business with lots of money to be made on people's superstition. If ghosts were real then it would just everyday life an no one would be making a big deal about it.
Its been shown electrical fields can cause paranormal experiences. The brain is an electro-chemical organ that can be affected by outside electromagnetic fields. Living near power lines could have an effect. Magnetic disturbances in the earth's field could have an effect. The military has worked on electronic devices that can disorient people and you can even buy such a device on the internet. Most people are not affected. The few that are tell ghost stories, get obsessively religious, play with ouija boards or crystal balls, read palms, or other such nonsense. BTW, the going rate for a crystal ball reading is $100.

omg hammertime.. that was just tooo funny!!
at my nice ripe old age I have to say there has been a thing or two that has baffled and opened my mind up to the possibility that the dead or the actions of the dead can be seen or experienced under the right circumstances. I come from a family that all of the female members are supposedly "gifted".. i just think we may be a bit too inbred... but that is another subject. I myself don't feel the presence of spirits see Jimmy Hoffa or communicate with UFOs in my free time...
but...
I have seen what I cant explain.. People I have been with have witnessed the same thing - I have seen a Fireball in the sky and it was awesome.. UFO? who knows..the men in black never showed up so I guess it wasn’t. (and I so wanted to meet Tommy Lee Jones!)
There is one Ghost hunter show in particular that really gets my attention - crips, I cant think of the name of it, or what channel its on but they have captured on film some things that were very similar to what I and friends had seen in our little ghost hunting days - For me, I don’t think that there is a spirit world.. i think this is the spirit world, its just us that cant perceive the energy that a spirit is. Electronic equipment is untrustworthy to some degree, but in most paranormal research its only hard core fact and data that is convincing.. not a dust mite on a lens.
here is an idea..why not get a group together to do a little hunting of our own?
As for me, I do believe in ghosts. Does Casper have tea with me? Nope. But I keep a kettle of hot water on the stove just in case.

couldnt tell you.. i havent owned a tv in a few months and cable is right out..
they filmed some great stuff at an upstate closed prison and a light house..
*sigh* Darn my wrinkled mind.. it fails me!

I have been on a ghost hunt using electronics. Those didn't work, but there were definitely ghosts about. The people I was with said the spirits had to come pretty close for the "arrays"' to pick up the energy.

Some wierd stuff has been caught on film and on tape recorders.. i always wanted to try the trick of taking a tape recorder out to a grave and letting the machine run its corse befor checking to see what it picked up... but who has 60min to kill just to listen to static?
*sigh* oh the lazy side in me is an evil evil harpy.

About 15 years ago, in New York City, I attended
a seance with a woman named, Joy Herald.
She's been in the media in NY for a while.
After I came home something very strange happened
in the middle of the night (that never happened prior or
after again). A large picture with glass exploded in my
home with no apparent cause. The rest of the picture
remained intact still hanging on the wall.
I called the woman the next day, and she said
that is how some spirits will try to communicate/manifest
once you attempt to contact them.
I did see circulating smoke in the center of the seance room.
And two other things. One woman had a bright white light
glowing from her knee and another man had a brightly glowing neck.
I saw them both waiting for cabs outside afterwards. The woman
with the light on her knee said she had a tumor there and had
a prayer group praying for her. She was being operated on shortly.
She said thanks as the white light means it will heal completely.
The other man had a huge necklace of crystals. under his
turtleneck sweater and laughed about how I saw the white
glow in the dark from his neck area.
Can we see alternate energy if we adjust, focus and
practice it? Yes. And I believe everyone has that ability.
Is there something more than we can explain? Probably.
Can skeptics absolutely prove there is nothing beyond our
short lives. The fact is, no one can.
So the quest and the question marks about ghosts and life hereafter
will continue on.

As a photographer I know there are spectrums of light that cannot be seen by the unaided eye,but with specially sensitized film (or CCD imager if you're shooting digital),you can sure take some pretty pictures with it.

Glow in the dark necklace? He laughed because it really did glow in the dark just like phosphorescent paint, bio-luminescence, and any other photo-sensitive material. Maybe it was just reflecting light. One stupid friend squashed a firefly on his pants killing it. It remained glowing. Some people think they've seen a ghost when something in front of them appears out of nowhere and moves across the room when, in fact, its an eye floater. They can be pretty annoying but there is treatment for that. Other things happen when you stare at an object long enough, shut your eyes and you still see it. Lets get real here. Vision is a complex set of events involving rods, cones, optic nerve and cognitive functions.
Here's a tidbit of trivia. Astronauts had difficulty sleeping in space because they kept seeing bright flashes of light. It turns out it was cosmic rays passing through the ship and affecting their retinas. Some have developed clouded vision and cataracts. Cosmic rays also reach the earth but much less intense. Some people still get affected.

I saw a National geographic documentary on this that pretty much debunked the whole "science" of ghost hunting.The pictures and recordings were dismissed as reflections of dust particles (the so called "orbs") or some other photographic or electronic anomaly.The electro magnetic readings which were supposedly higher in areas of more concentrated "hauntings",that is,the machine's needle was going off the scale,were explained as belonging to areas of the house that were near electrical transformers,fuse boxes and conduit junctions.
