ONCE AGAIN!
we are not talmudic or bible scholars and have no intention whatsoever of addressing conflicting interpretations or analyzing content of any personal opinion or website content.
BUT
participants in the religion & spiritual forum are asked to act like civil adults and refrain from calling each other names. this policy is ignored daily in that forum, despite a barrage of warnings, making it a very distateful experience for all participants and moderators. the holy wars have reached the point that the only expectation of the moderators is that the combatants will wipe each other out eventually and a fresh new roster of members who do want to discuss their beliefs civilly and maturly will emerge from behind the embankments.
members are given the privilege of sharing their opinions on this site. the word 'sharing' does not imply 'monopolizing', 'attacking', or making every discussion a win or lose debate.
if the R&S forum can't shape itself up on its own and allow everyone to have their say without rudeness and the continual personal put downs, the entire forum may have to be locked, which would be a shame considering the good discussions that have taken place there.
because it's impractical to set up one moderator to patrol that forum (and another in the political forum) as full time jobs or to even sort out who's at fault, we have to rely on abuse reports when things get out of hand. if that's a problem, then please either work out differences among yourselves, as adults, or avoid posting there. there doesn't seem to be a simple solution to controlling a pack of passionate people other than to demand a certain level and courtesy and respect for each other, even if opinions on a topic conflict.

I know you're being serious with this warning, but damn that's funny.

act like civil adults and refrain from calling each other names. Well, if you can get folks not to be this hostile when discussing religion, you'll have reversed thousands of years of history..."and the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize: the MOD!"

People should be able to talk about their religions without getting mad at each other. Every religion has something good to offer, and if we have an open mind we can learn from their various teachings.

People should be able to talk about their religions without getting mad at each other. Yet for centuries, humanity has been unable to do just that...

Best to ignore the seekers of negative attention .... hopefully they will then go and play on a busy road

Rules get broken, and their bombs keep on ticking. Everyone is complaining, even those that are not Christians!! My mail box is overflowed with them!

When religion divides people into their respective camps, and they hurl abuse at each other - you know that religion is not performing as it should... uniting people instead of dividing them.
Sadly most of the world religions are like this - false. And to attack religion in general - believers take offense, thinking they are under personal attack?
There is no proof for most of what religion says --- otherwise we would all be converted, wouldn't we??? And of course, we are not... Sound logical sense, common sense, tells us religions are not true with what they say - and when a lot of what they say - is merely "preaching" - ie. trying to convert us, it is boring boring boring. They use fear like "Only if you believe in Jesus Christ, will you be saved!" nonsense - and when you hear something like "There is but one true God - and he needs worshipping every day..." it seems God is afraid of competition. What I am saying, is that you can sense what else is behind the words... What other motives are there, present?
An honest student may well say - Oh, God appeared in different times, didn't he? And so the last time? Was before Mohammed? After all, it was close enough to where he appeared before... Maybe he didn't like what the Christians were up to, and wanted to start anew? Hence Islam?
