Kinda reminds me of an email I once sent to someone on here...
But, on the damage caused, I couldn't agree more. I'm of the mindset that it's child abuse to bring your children up in any religion. It limits their ability to reason, take healthy risks, imagine, take responsibility, appreciate, and a myriad of other things. All of these things are needed to progress as humans!
The damage caused by brainwashing is so strong that even the Japanese took up Chistianity and Taoism after their Emporor was forced (by America) to admit he was not a diety... the Persians had several of their 'Gods' killed right before their eyes and still kept creating them, eventually adopting the Abrahamic God that couldn't be killed because it took no life form.
Those lucky enough to escape such nonsense in their child rearing became some of the best inventors, worthy politicians, scientists and musical geniuses!

What absolute Rubbish!.. I dont know of any Christian person who fills thier childrens heads full of demons etc.
To say that would mean that any other faith also asks thier children to act on the original books created for that religeon.
Do Muslims cut the arms and legs off of a person who causes trouble in the land?.. The Quoran tells them to.
Anyone can read from these scripts whether it be Jewish, Muslim or Christian, and see that there are texts far over fetched as what we see as permissible in this day and age.

The most innocent thing in the world, babies, are poisoned by your dogma. This is disturbing and incorrect, unless you are God. Our dogma? How about what God says and not what we say. Of course that doesn't count to the close minded and sin is not just a word. Rather it is a specific description of a state of being, still don't get it do you hambone? S
I'm puzzled as to why one would take offense to the word 'dogma.' Ever looked it up in a dictionary??? Or, is the opinion of the word by atheists all that matters? Since dogma is specifically a reference to religious indoctrination, it does leave a funny taste in my mouth... but, for those who delight in dogma for their children and others, why the hate? It's dogma! Get over it! Learn the word!
And God doesn't say squat. When's the last time you hear anything about God from anyone but humans? When's the last time you heard anything about humans from God himself? NEVER... what you have, is a book. A book written by men who wanted to control their surroundings, nature, and (most of all) women and have it be justified somehow by a greater being than themselves.

I must have missed this when someone said it. However, religions do the equivelant of filling their kids' heads with demons by merely forcing them to believe in the ghosts and goblins of the scriptures as well as the gods.
To say that would mean that any other faith also asks thier children to act on the original books created for that religeon.
So, um... what you're saying here, is that religions were wrong when they were created but they're right if you don't follow them exactly how they were originally intended? Hey... I know some people in Washington that treat the constitution this way too, I hope you don't vote.

What is so different about this day and age? Are you not still humans to be ruled by your God? Are you not still God's creations and accountable to his word? The problem is that most religious people believe that their scriptures are the word of their god and that god's word never changes.
Just look at the posts of most of the christians and muslims in this forum. They would rather justify what the scriptures say instead of admitting "that there are texts far over fetched as what we see as permissible in this day and age".
These people live their lives in the past, believing everything that is written in their holy writings.
Have you viewed any of the "Jesus Camp" articles and videos. There are many religious fanatics out there.

Sail_Dancer, lefthandedluckie, is that the same way you feel about having parents inform their children that there might be bad things out in the public world that could be harmful to them??
Is that the way you feel about parents opening their children's eyes and warning them to be on the lookout for certain things...and if they see those things, then the children should take care to avoid those things?
Bad, bad parents. Imagine that. 
How abusive!!
Wicked, wicked parents. Frightening their children with such inventive, fictional things!!
Ohh... but telling their children about that kind of evil is okay. Just don't cross the line into the spiritual realm. Just wear your lucky ring and you'll be okay.

This argument is inherently flawed.
It is a fact, not conjecture, that you can die if you walk in front of a moving bus. Therefore, one should avoid walking in front of a moving bus. However, it is not the intent of the moving bus to punish you if you should happen to walk in front of it. You are not a bad person if you do walk in front of the bus. And, let's not forget, no puppeteer is making that bus hit you because you were bad and walked in front of it.
Natural consequences and observable facts are just that. Not conjecture, imaginary stories, what might be, or a judgment. There are bad people in the world, and kids need to know this because it's very obvious and observable fact. I think it's abuse to pile on more crap to make the world even scarier.

There are bad people in the world, and kids need to know this because it's very obvious and observable fact. No no no. I think you keep forgetting there are among us those who see demons, devils, ghosts, goblins and all sorts of supernatural events that Stephen King would envy. Even delusional psychopaths can have common sense when you put that all into perspective.
