Atheist: One who lacks belief in a God or Gods.
Truth: the true or actual state of a matter:
Fact: a truth known by actual experience or observation; something known to be true: Scientists gather facts about plant growth.
Belief: something believed; an opinion or conviction: a belief that the earth is flat.
Knowledge: acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition: knowledge of many things.
Fable: a story not founded on fact: This biography is largely a self-laudatory fable.
Logic: the science that investigates the principles governing correct or reliable inference.
Somebody please add the analagy of "believing just in case", I can never remember the title of that one.

I wonder Godless, why you ask for the analogy of believing after giving the definition of belief because in your atheism glossary,I dont see any difference in the meaning of those words than the same glossary from a non-atheist.

There is a particular story that I've heard a million times, but the title and reference always escapes me. It regards those that "believe" in a God, just in case there is one, because they either want the benefits or don't want the consequences.

What about the Fact that your Belief is a Fable and your approach to Truth has no Logic? And thats true whether one is an Atheist or not because blind faith means you have no Knowledge.

Pascal's Wager. Not Pasquale. He's the guy that owns the Pizzeria down the block. .
Pascal's Wager is faulted. Its as wrong as Thomas Aquinas's Cosmological ontological argument. Its bogus reasoning based on superstition.

No, I think Pasquale's IQ was a tad bit higher.
I LOVE Pasqual's Wager, because it is used so often by theists to prove their point, but ends up proving a completely different set of points... one being the utter essence of faulty logic.

A major problem with Pascal's Wager is that it doesn't decide which religion and which god is the right one even though Blaise was Christian, the wager makes no distinction. One might as well be wagering on Zeus or Odin. It assumes that not believing is worst than believing. It doesn't tell you how your lost the wager by believing in the wrong god. So it turns out the wager works best if you don't believe in any of the myths and fables and waste your life on a superstitious delusion.

Hammer:
If it's Zeus, it won't matter, you'll end up in Gehenna either way. I don't recall much in the way of reward or punishment in Greek mythology.
If it's Odin, you darn well better be sure you die in battle. And since that death is likely to be painful, it's probably safer to choose Christianity.
At least that way, you can sit in safety, smug in the knowledge that you don't have to do anything--anything at all--to secure salvation. (With all that implies...)

Well if heaven is filled with Christians then I'd rather go to hell. Wait, if Christians are in heaven then that is hell. Who wants to look at Falwell's fat ass for all eternity? And you know Pat Robertson is ready to blow a gasket very soon and join him. Of course there is the other possibility, that when you're dead you're dead. That's can't be so bad. When did they ever complain about it?

For all you Atheists. One of the coolest videos I've seen about atheists.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdVucvo-kDU.
The music is really cool too.

I've seen that video before, it's good to see now and then... and it could have taken hours to name everyone recognizable to most.

Godless, until the Mod comes back, or we get a new one, this will just have to be bumped up until they can pin it.

I know it can be done in the Gatherings forums. Like maybe in the state forums where you want to get people together.

Hammer, lets see, since you claim belief in God is a fable with no logic, yet atheism is also a fable, does this fall into your hallucinations deal you always claim Christains have?
