Everyone who prays to God knows those prayers are answered in different ways.
Written in Isaiah-
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declared the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts”

Some are answered and some are not.

Proverbs-
“If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered”
James-
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures”

My curiosity wonders how some of your prayers were answered.

I'll start with one of mine,my prayer for companionship.I started on this site years ago.I never sent out a wink or an email to anyone other then mutual friends and I dont have a complete profile here any longer because of a prayer answered.
After a lady contacted me first after seeing my initial profile we met last summer and she lives with me today. We both look at life and how its lived and enjoyed with very similar excitement.Thats difficult to find when youve spent over 50 years of life being who you are, not trying to be who someone else wants.
That was one of many of my answered prayers.

So God answered your prayer and you repay him by living in sin?

Oh I like this.

I believe my prayers are answered every time I get out of my car, I am home safe.

I prayed for the safety of my sons while they were driving and God kept them safe for me.

I guess praying for the Buckeyes to win the championship wasn't answered though,,,

The questions I sometimes have and maybe even years down the road, it hits me.

God doesn't always answer the way we want Him to.

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures”

Well, lately I think my friends would be better off without my prayers, but we won't go there, it's too sad.

On a lighter note, way back when, I was a warehouse supervisor for an air freight company, and part of my job was finding dense freight to offset what we called 'balloons'. One night I was walking the warehouse with one of the warehousemen, and it was astonishing...nothing but computers (the worst of the 'balloons'). I was just kidding, but I looked up and said 'Dear God, please, someone somewhere must need to ship some lead pipes tonight...can't they ship it with us?'. A couple of hours later, the guy came into the office, white as a sheet (last time I saw him look like that was when somebody's leg was shattered by a fork lift, so believe me, my stomach churned when I saw him). He said that I had to come out to the warehouse, he couldn't tell me what happened, I had to see for myself...I went, scared to death of what I'd find. Lo and behold, a truckload of lead pipes. First and only time we ever had one too.

After that, the drivers were totally afraid to cross me...footnote to this was that we couldn't move the pipes by air, they were TOO dense. I just laughed and said I always knew he had a sense of humor...

You assume that they are not married. God is all loving and understands all . They are repaying God, by believing, having faith and proclaiming such a great gift to find someone they love and want to be with.

It is impossible for prayers not to be answered. However, alot of people assume that what they pray for is what they need, sometimes it is just what they want. The things that we want or pray for sometimes take alot longer than what we think it should take. Alot of times, we just give up on prayer or life and lose faith.

Just don't believe in God, really. I believe in Lord Krishna, but sometimes I don't and I don't take it that seriously. It has nothing to do with you, though and it's just my opinion.

Prayers are often things desired and asked for. They're "please give me" rituals even if its for someone else. Its religious mental masturbation for the most part to make you feel good about yourself. Some prayers, less popular, might be meditative and contemplative of some unknown invisible force that sometimes manifests itself as a hallucinatory vision or a voice.

The idea that prayers are always answered is like saying whatever happens is an answer but you'd get the same results praying to a banana . You can pray to the banana and if you don't get what you asked for, you can say the banana said NO or WAIT. It works every time and you always always get an answer even if the banana works in mysterious ways.

Well it makes you feel good. Its like singing in the shower. Even if you sound really bad you still feel good even if its annoying the neighbors and their small dogs but it doesn't last long.

Well actually, I kind of feel that it's wrong to ask for things for myself. I'll pray for others, but even then it's more along the lines of thy will, not mine. If there's a plan or not, I'm certainly not privy to it, and I kind of feel that it's greedy to ask for more when I've been given so much already. Most of my prayers are just sheer gratitude, and less in words than in emotion and attitude.

This weekend I'll probably be saying a final goodbye to a dog I've come to love in the past year...I won't be asking for more time with him, but I'll be saying thank you for the time I had. I guess you can call me credulous - or even Candide - but my cynicism is only skin deep. I'm always looking for the positive spin and usually can find it...as in "all things are for the best in this best of all possible worlds"...please don't think I really believe it's perfect but I do what little I can to help make it better.

Yes, prayers are often things desired and asked for. "Things or outcomes"
Anouther aspect of prayer is not so much as a desired outcome, but the strength, guidance and insight to do what is right or to be able to handle whatever outcome occurrs. Praying for guidance to follow or right or moral choice is not mental maturbation at all. Making you feel good about your self, is usually not an outcome of prayer. True prayer and reflection involves love and humility to accept that you are not in control of everything. Submitting to Gods authority and accepting things happen alot of time because peoples personal free will and choices.

The idea that prayers are always answered is like saying whatever happens is an answer but you'd get the same results praying to a banana ..

Prayers are always answered, but on a much grander scale of time and purpose. God understands the "big universal picture" much more than I could ever comprehend. We always don't get what we want, probably more often than not. My kids ask or pray for stuff that they want, I don't always give it to them, because in the bigger scheme of life, I understand as a parent on what is really more important. God does them same thing. He works with enternity in mind, not our short life here.

Your delusion for answers can be said about anything, god, banana, milk crate, and making excuses for uncertain results by making up stories about grand schemes and big pictures means you only have excuses and thus always assume you got an answer which really is no answer. Ugh, run on sentence. This is what I meant by mental masturbation. You are only stroking yourself to feel good. All you're doing is letting random events control your life without actually doing something to get what you want or need. Just praying and hoping sells a person short and falsely give them hope to pacify them for the time being.

Hammer...why do you assume that prayer excludes action? And how do you know that our intentions, our thoughts, even our emotions, expressed as prayer or not, aren't the energy that drives this world? Based on the way the world seems to work, nature abhors a vacuum and the creator abhors waste. There's purpose to everything, even what we perceive as horrors. We've only recently come to understand that forest fires serve a necessary purpose and we now do controlled burns. Whether prayer is abandoning control or trying to establish it, I really do believe that it has power and I think that in totally rejecting prayer as being a very real force, you're closing your mind, just as you accuse others of closing theirs.

JMHO as usual.
