I was going to just post this on another thread. But I realized that it merited a thread of its' own.
Do you wonder why you've never had the desire to attend a church ceremony? Do you believe this is due to a choice of your own making?
Acts 2:38--"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39--The promise is for you and your children. and all who are far off--for all whom the Lord will call." Therefore, I believe, you must believe that He exists. What sense would it make for Him to make Himself known to one who is not looking for Him?
Such a desire--for popularity, is an ego-based human trait.
He created us to worship Him.
Like it or not.
Psalm 34:21--"Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22--The Lord redeems His servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in Him."

SOC,
I have no idea where you are coming from. How about the story of the lost sheep and that Jesus was sent to gather all the lost sheep?
You as one of the devote sheeples in R&S should know this!
Peace

Well...I kinda figured that my admission to being responsible for saying something not-well thought out was humbling enough. But I guess not.
Thanks for your well-intentioned concern sail. You are truly a saint of a man.

I believe He said, even if it is just one sheep, to go after it.
I have been called many times by Him.
Oh and Hammer? I am sure you won't disappoint me here.

Long ago in the ancient of days, there was a great festival celebration that would take place once a year. (See if anyone knows what culture this is and can name this special festival).
2 goats (goatiles), were brought forward; one goat was sacrificed for the guilty (purification process), and the other was to be blessed of all the peoples iniquities of guilt, then let loose where no man lived.
Hint...it is biblical.

A question for the OP.
He created us to worship Him.
Like it or not. Do you truly believe you exist for nothing more than servitude?

kjac, of course they do. You know that.
And thats perfectly fine but there are 3000 gods to serve. There are the gods of India. The gods of ancient Greece and Rome. They god of Abraham and the Christian gods. Lots of gods need someone to serve them. Quezecoatal was served by the Mayans live beating hearts torn out of the chests of virgins on a daily basis. It was a honor. Some gods are very hungry and blood thirsty.

Under that premise, there would be absolutely no point in doing anything to better your way of life. As long as you're serving the lord, you are fulfilling your life's purpose, right? Why do anything else to bring pleasure into your life if it has no real meaning?

Why do anything else to bring pleasure into your life if it has no real meaning? Pleasure? Now you're on to something. Very often any kind of pleasure especially sexual is denied. When its not denied its riddled with guilt and sin. Yet they can't keep their hands off themselves.
Other kinds of pleasures like thinking for example is a struggle. The pleasure of having a thought that is not the result of endless indoctrination and constant brainwashing is met with great pain.

Quezecoatal was served by the Mayans live beating hearts torn out of the chests of virgins on a daily basis. It was a honor. Actually it was the Maya god Kukulkan. Quetzacoatl was the Aztec (Tenochtitlan region; language nahuathl), god. Two different cultures identified in their own geographical areas of the Mexico and Central America colonizations.
Mayans did not speak the nahuathl language, but had variances of other communal languages.

TWIN GOATS
Other details of the service of Yom Kippur also take on new meaning when seen in contrast to the actions of Nadav and Avihu. The central worship of the day involved two goats -- one offered in the Sanctuary, the other sent into the desert.
Similar ceremonies, a world apart...

Aztecs and Mayans both practiced human sacrifice. A game the Mayan's used to play at Chichen Itza involved beheading the captain of the winning team. The loser lived to play another game.
There are 3000 gods who had servants and sacrifices. Is there any god that did not want or require a human sacrifice? Certainly not the god of Abraham.

A game the Mayans used to play at Chichen Itza involved beheading the captain of the winning team. Yep, been there. The acoustics in the ball court are incredible, and in fact they haven't been duplicated in modern times. El Cenote is still an eerie place, even on a sunny Mexican day. As for the ballgames...
While this may seem a strange reward, the Mayans believed this to be the ultimate honor. The winning captain getting a direct ticket to heaven instead of going through the 13 steps that the Mayans believed they had to go through in order to reach heaven..
