Most all of us treasure our home and our families, but what other treasures do you have?
Your treasure can be many things apart from your wage earnings ie. money.Things you like to do or are very proficient at.
For example...goals.New goals or those youve allready attained.Maybe God gifted you in some way meaning how well do you value what you were given.

Jesus states in Luke 12:32
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Even a hobby could be a treaure of the heart.
What are yours?

Jankia as for me, I grew up in Quaker land; We made everything from our own gardens to quilts. Canning in the fall and tapping the Maple trees for the sugar house. Nothings was wasted, even paper was burned with the kindling for fire stoking. Sounds like chores, but in reality each job had it's own treasure to be cured.

When I learned furniture making, I created some of my own pieces, which I still have. They are not great pieces, but people say you made that? So I guess I did ok in that field of venture.

But my most delight in hobby, is writing. Have had the opportunity to have some pieces published; I am writing books, and been holding back on having them published due to timeline preferance.

I haven written and do write on various creative topics as well as non-fiction.

When I get stuck, I put it down and return when thoughts strike me to add more.

I have written for universities, public magazines, churches, cooporations, newspaper columns, community and government organizations as well as some international means. It takes time to develop and establish knowability with reputation; sometimes years depending on the time that is dedicated. These have been my short term goals. My long term goal will be upon retirement from the medical field and write full time, then my books will be published.

But the main purpose of my favorite hobby, is to touch the hearts of people with my words; bring valueable meaning to life and leave them with a dream in their soul.

i had to read your message to realize that your point was to worldly treasures. but, my mind went immediately to the word pearls. as in "pearl of great price" and of course casting thine pearls before swine. the only treasures i can relate to are my books. words, written by many. and even a collection of bibles, written by a few. one bible in particular reminds me of its source. the world publishing company. I thank God for reminding me that man has touched the bible that i quote. selah

Without question, one of the only things belonging to me are the friendships I've been given.

Of course I value my relationship with Jesus Christ more, but still...

My treasures were also gifts given me by the Lord himself.
My heart is in carpentry the outdoors and wildlife.

I have been blessed with the ability to build anything from an oak dining room table to entire homes by myself without ever having done it before.
My heart is in woodworking but its also in my ability to work hard and well.If its not done behind a desk but in the field, there is little that I havent done from operating heavy excavating equipment to building bank vaults with no prior expierience.
I also treasure my ability to make something from nothing...the "McGyver" type so to speak. To some thats still my nickname.

My fondness for animals is also something I treasure from my heart.Animals tend to sense that in a person. It sometimes startles people when I'm able to get along with certain animals that few others are.

Jankia, I hope you don't mind me saying this, it certainly isn't my intention to offend you in any way...but your innocence is the trait which most most draws me to your friendship. There is a purity about you that I'm sure animals must sense also.
You're a good man.
Many people find the fact that they are very readable people to be something like a curse.
Not at all.
Transparency of one's emotional state is an incredibly endearing quality. Some see this trait as a weakness. As a chink in one's armour.

Should you place much stock in such a person's assessment?

Offended? By a compliment from a friend,I hardly think so.Thats a treasure in itself just like the praise I have for you,Angel and others on here that are so educated in bible study when I admit I'm not.
I also like hearing from kattsmeow especially when she brings her husbands views about religion on here.I only wish that more would join in.Thats another reason I made this thread hoping some that are shy or just plain sick of all the attack and defense on here would contribute.
No,I dont agree with what every Christain says but i do appreciate there saying it and in how they share what they believe.

It feels strange to say that my treasures are my turmoils. My #1 treasure is my mother. Then there is my houseful of so-called 'treasures' -- popping in my lap suddenly, strowing kitty litter on the floor, playing tug-a-war with my socks. Yes, treasures can have a bite....

Quite literally......

Sometimes the treasures are hidden when we are blind to see...

The adoration of a Mother
The soft effection of a kitten
The warmth of socks on cold days/nights

I wish I had a Mother
I wish I wasn't allergic to kittens
I wish I had warm socks with no holes

God has blessed me with these.

Like Door, I have a bunch of four footed treasures here...Charlie Chaplin's giving himself a bath on the desk next to the laptop, Lucy the Jack Russell is curled up on my feet, Minau the blue-eyed Bengal is doing what he does best, opening every cabinet and drawer in the house that he can reach, Fuzzy Brother, my 16 year old 20-pound behemoth of a cat is curled up on a chair next to me. I'm so sorry I didn't name him Baby Huey, it would have been perfect; he's still a great big baby even if he is Top Cat around here.

Then of course there are my two footed treasures...I'm lucky enough to have a bunch of the best people in the world as friends and family, not to mention one very special friend who keeps life very interesting indeed.

As for gifts, I was given a pretty decent brain that I've tried to keep tuned up and functioning even into my sixth decade. Hopefully if I keep using it it will serve me well until it stops functioning at all..if you don't use it, you lose it. I think my greatest blessing, other than what I've mentioned already, has been that I've been lucky enough to spend pretty much my entire working life doing things I've enjoyed tremendously, as well as being able to work with (and even visit) some great people all over the world.

For someone who was paralyzed for awhile in her teens, and terrorized for quite awhile in her twenties, life after sixty has been fabulous!

That's something I treasure when I have it, but I never expect it to last!
