I thought I would start a thread that would let people tell about times when they felt God had answered prayer. I had poseted the story of my brother in a different thread, but thought the topic was worthy of hit's own thread.

When my brother was about 11 a wood chip hit him in the eye. Mom said she watched it fill up like tomato juice being poured into a glass. They took him to the hospital. The doctor said that, over the next several days, the blood may drain out. If it didn't, he would be blind in one eye.

Mom got down beside his bed and started to pray. When a nurse came in, she got embarrassed and got up real quick. She felt bad about that. "Hide your light under a bushel" and all of that. So, she got back down and started praying again. From then on, if she heard someone enter the room, she just kept down there praying. About an hour later, he woke up and said "Mom!!! I can see!!!"

They called the doctor, and he didn't even want to check it, because if it happened at all, it would take several days. When he examined the eye, he couldnot find a trace of the blood.

Now, that may not be proof to alot of folks, but it works for me.

Mom was one of the most humble folk you could ever meet, but I tell you, given a choice between her and one of these grandeous rhinestone TV preachers, I would pick her to pray by my bedside any day of the week.

Yes, of course. Many times doctors gave grim diagnosis and people recovered. Doctors aren't magicians and all knowing. If they were so good there wouldn't be a need to for expensive malpractice insurance. There was one guy who had a grim diagnosis about his heart, that he wouldn't live long. He set about to commit suicide by running so his wife and family would get the life insurance. He wound up running marathons.

I suppose this is your negative proof of some divine intervention. Where is your logic? Ignorance is always being used as a form of proof. Its kind of stupid actually. I think real proof just might be if someone's amputated limb grew back or someone grows a brand new heart or liver. So for no spontaneous regenerations. However science is working on doing this because the human body may have the capacity. Reptiles grow new limbs and tails. Some even throw their tails off to escape predators. Humans can grow new finger tips but only up to the age of five. Christians have protested against this kind of research. Something about playing god. Ain't that a hoot?

Prayers only make you feel good. No magic can change the course of natural events despite the stupid governor of Georgia praying for rain, all he got was a drizzle. If by coincidence it did rain, that moron and his superstitious constituents would have voted for him again.

My minister's son, as a teenager became ill, she took him to the hospital, immediately they transferred him to the Houston Cancer Clinic. They just shook their heads and said he had leukemia and that it was so advanced that he wouldn't and couldn't live more than a couple of days. His doctor was a jewish man, Greenberg.

My minister closed the room to everyone but people who were firm believers and they began a prayer vigil, praying constantly and proclaiming that the boy was healed.

The boy made a complete recovery and the doctor became a Christian.

Lance, your mom was a prayer warrior, that is an awesome gift, and God rewarded her faith and her faithfulness with His power. You were blessed to have such a mother.

By the way, hammer, what happened with my minister's son was an absolute impossibility.

Now, I have one that is simple and small but medically impossible, too.

My middle daughter got this egg sized cyst on her panty line on the front of her leg. I took her to the doctor and he said he could remove it, but the scar there on her pantyline would be more irritating than the cyst would be.

We went home, I sent her to her room and told her to repeat three time that by His stripes I was healed. She did this, the next day the cyst was completely gone. The doctor had said it wouldn't go away, she would have to learn to just live with it.

She had a friend that had the same kind of cyst on her arm, I asked her if she had told her friend what to do, she said, no, that she was embarassed to do that. HER cyst came back, now, it had been gone for over a year. She came to me telling me it was back. I told her that when God did something for her, she should share what He had done to others, so He could help them, too. She called her friend, told her, went back in her room and repeated again that by His stripes she was healed. The cyst left and has never returned.

Okay, this is such a simple thing, but, again, something the doctor said wouldn't happen. It did not break open nor drain, it simply disappeared.

Actually what happened was crap. Your ignorance is far bigger than your knowledge. Prayers do nothing but masturbate your mind and every big study ever proves that....

What Christians do is distort the truth and twist facts. No prayers ever did a thing but blow air.

You might want to refer to the prayer threads on R&S where all of you prayed for lost kids. Where are they? Very said and twisted mentally of Christians to do nothing but pray. It means you're helpless.

Actually, what happened was the absolute truth.

You simply have no explanation. At least, the doctors had an explanation knew a miracle and the work of the Lord when they saw it.

Why don't you do an experiment? Why don't you pray for something to happen and lets see if it happens.....That should keep you busy for a while....

Where we prayed for really lost kids, or kids who were not saved, I don't remember being a part of those prayers? I would have been if I had seen it.

I am reminded of a time at church where a call went out for everyone to pray for a man who was desperately ill. I went home and was going to pray for him, but I couldn't pray for his health to return. I tried to pray more than once, but I couldn't pray. The next week at church we were told that he had died before the call for prayer had gone out. That was why I couldn't pray.

The minister of that church, a man, went to the VA hospital, he had had a heart attack. They did all kinds of tests and then told him, that he had to have surgery, a bypass, that without it he would not live but a few more months.

This minister told them that he was going to his prayer grounds and spend the weekend in prayer, that he would be back Monday and if he still needed the bypass, he would let them do one. He went and spent the weekend on his face in front of God, asking that his heart be healed and asking God for twenty more years.

He went back to the VA on Monday, they ran test after test and came back saying that they couldn't understand it, he had the heart of a young man, nothing was wrong with him.

Twenty years from the time this minister prayed, this minister died. Amazing, but true. His daughter and my daughter were best friends. He was a sincere and dedicated man, a good man. I miss him.

It was the truth, I would never lie about God, that is a deadly sin, you know, hammer. I pray all the time about things and they happen.

Lol, you sound like satan when he told Jesus that it was written that the angels would lift him up, to throw himself off a mountain. Jesus replied, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

Do you have a need that needs to be met, hammer, a true one? If so, I will pray for you. I am sure that all of us in here would be glad to pray for you.

Bev,
Go do a prayer.... Lots of sick people. Go help them. See if you can raise the dead like Wigglesworth.

Individual prayer is a pursuit in positive thinking whereas if you wish for something to occur or be true, you yourself and your actions becomes the source of making them happen.

In the West our health system is post medicine after the fact and so there are many examples of unexplained cures simply because doctors do not practice holistic medicine.

By the way, your studies are junk, too. I have seen many studies that show exactly the opposite.

The fact remains that Christians see answers to their prayers everyday, and we know they are answers to our prayers. The things we have asked for wouldn't have happened without the intervention of God, most of the time. Other times we can see where the hand of God just pushed things along and hurried things up.

Our God is an AWESOME God.

Lol, yash, the instances I cited could not have been helped with "Holistic" medicine.

So you have a cure for leukemia? This leukemia was twenty years ago, there was no cure. The young man is now in his late thirties. You have a medicine that renews a man's heart and makes it like the heart of a young man?

Maybe you have one that could have made my leg I broke and had to have surgery on the same length again as the other one?

Come on, yash.

By the way, you try to positive think yourself out of those situations.

From a website.

According to the Bible, there is no need for prayer for the sick. Or health insurance for believers.

"In Mark 16, Jesus talks about the laying on of hands:

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.

But even more remarkable is James 5:15, where the Bible says:

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.

These are powerful verses. Keep in mind, according to the Standard Model of God, that these are the words of an all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect God. And James 5:15 is completely unambiguous. If these words are true and perfect, it seems like a faithful person should have no need for health insurance. "

Bev, you have stated that you believe the Bible to be absolute truth. Explain this.

Western medicine by far the best when it comes to technological breakthroughs and surgical procedure. Even the East uses western medicine. India and Thailand for example and in some cases exceeds the USA. The problem with western medicine is its focus on specialization to the point that nothing else in the body is considered so you need a whole battery of doctors looking you over, doing massive tests and skyrocketing your medical bill. Symptoms are most often treated, not the cause. Exercise and a good attitude cures a lot of problems but doctors are too quick to dispense with blood pressure and cholesterol medicine when all you need to do is walk a few miles a day.

Your god is a turd. Does nothing at all and doesn't exist.

Why don't you see if you can go to a hospital and close them down for business. Go cure them.

To answer you and goose. I haven't been to a doctor in years, my blood pressure is normal, my cholestrol levels are great, my health is wonderful.

I have laid hands on the sick and they have recovered. I do believe the Bible is absolute truth, for I have seen the truth of the word, and know the word accomplishes just what it says it will. The catch to this is the believing. "As you have believed, so be it unto you." Like the Bible says, I do not fault any believer whose faith has not taken them that far, but as for me, I believe.

There, again, like I told knots, it is much simpler and requires much less effort to depend on yourself or the world or doctors than on your faith, the word, Jesus.

I will go to any hospital where someone is sick and calls on me for prayer.
I am more than willing to pray for anyone who needs me to. I love to watch the Lord heal people and make them well when they had no hope.

So you never read the entire Bible I assume. Otherwise you'd be on a killing spree. (sabbath workers, non virgins, and unruley teens, etc.)

Oh and own slaves.

And the laying of hands thing. Whatever. Ernest Angy does that too. Come rid me of my cancer. And go shut down a hospital as hammer suggested. That would be a good deed and I'm sure endorsed by god. Why haven't you been on the news?

Do you know Sherry Shriner?

When they came to Christ asking for a sign He refused to Give it. They had already witnessed great signs and wonders.

Good morning Brother hammer. I'm still praying for you your growing anger shows it is effecting you. I think perhaps one day you will stand for the Truth. Self will have to be brought low first though I will continue to pray for you.

Lord let conscience cry before him when he lies down and closes his eyes to sleep.
Lord let this vessel of Darkness be turned into a vessel of Light.
Lord let Twice as many blessings flow from his fingertips and lips as have blasphemy's

Jesus Loves you hammer. And I do to. God Draw you and open his truth to you in only the way he can. for you must see it for yourself. Then Self can be put in its place and God elevated.
