That is why it is vital to have the Holy Spirit, He divides the word correctly so you can see which scriptures pertain to your situation and which ones don't, otherwise, a person is just going to be picking out all the scriptures and that makes it look like the Bible contradicts itself. It doesn't. The word has to be divided correctly.

This is an example of what's stated quite clearly in the bible, but not generally accepted as far as I've seen...why would the bible be so clear and yet so ignored?

1 Corinthians 7:10-11
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. (NIV)

I believe Bev once posted that it was because the Holy Spirit had told her that it would be all right. How does one recognize that it's the Holy Spirit speaking and not just what you want to hear? Does it kind of go back to 'by their fruits you will know them?"

The Bible contradicts itself left and right. So Bev is wrong in her assumption. In addition, she said in her own words...

That is why it is vital to have the Holy Spirit, He divides the word correctly so you can see which scriptures pertain to your situation and which ones don't

Which shows how fallible the Bible really is.

The Bible, if it rings so true, shouldn't need any sort of division to make it understandable.

Maybe, Heaven, the Holy Spirit never goes against the word. I am divorced, but my husband was not a believer. There is also a scripture that says that if you are married to an unbeliever, consider him as dead as if he were dead and buried in the ground. Give your life to Me and let ME choose who, when and if you remarry.I went to a woman who was filled with the Holy Spirit for prayer, I told her I was divorced, and she said, "No, for the Lord calls you a widow."

There is also another scipture that allows divorce on the grounds of adultry, then remarriage is also permitted.

There is a scripture, and I can't find it, I sent it out to someone last week, if anyone knows its location, please post it. It says, "If you must remarry, it is not a sin." or words to that effect.

Even if a person has no grounds for divorce, they will still be forgiven for remarrying, it is simply a sin, and our sins will be forgiven if we pray and ask. It is no different from lying or coveting.

In the time of Jesus and when the bible was first written women had no rights at all and divorce or marriage did not exist. A woman was a mans property and he could discard her anytime he wished.

The idea the marriage existed or divorce existed is wrong because women had no rights or free will in those times.

Now, Heaven, I have another situation you should consider. Do you honestly think God would punish a woman who was married to an abusive husband and send her back to him or allow her not to remarry?

What About Marriage To An Unbeliever?
"But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the lord, that the wife should not leave her husband...." (1 Corinthians 7:10; cf. vss. 12,13).
Paul taught that the believer was not to leave his/her (unbelieving) spouse. This being so, then our text forbidding being bound to unbelievers does not necessarily apply to marriage to unbelievers. The text does not say "Do not become bound to unbelievers..." but "Do not be bound to unbelievers..." This means that if marriage were the application, then Paul would tell Christians married to unbelievers to leave them, to not to continue being married, or bound to the unbelieving spouse they are with. But he does the opposite; he tells them to stay, so to make this passage speak about marriage is incorrect. There are an eternity of reasons that makes it unwise for a Christian to decide to marry an unbeliever. A good rule to consider in marrying another is this: "Will this person help me and any children we have to go to heaven?" If this question cannot be answered with an honest "yes" then marriage should be out of the question, whether the person claims to be a believer or not! It may be unwise, but it is not necessarily sinful to marry an unbeliever.

This was what I found on marriage to an unbeliever.

I'm not asking specifically about divorce, that was just what came to mind first, but in general. Anyone can justify almost anything with appropriate quotes, including slavery, rape and murder. Personally I think when we're honest with ourselves, we know perfectly well the difference between right and wrong. It's that self-honesty that's so tough to do.

"An eye for an eye"="turn the other cheek"

The life span of man is 120 years.=Adam lived to be 930yrs old. Shelah-433, Eber-464yrs old.

Adam was told he would die the same day i he ate the forbidden fruit. but again, he lived to be 930yrs old.

"I repent that I have made Saul king."
But here...."God will not lie or repent, for he is not a man that he should repent."

Exodus 7:20-21 Moses and aaron changed all available water into blood.
Exodus 7:22 Pharoah's magicians do the same. But how if all available water was already blood when they got tere?

I Sam 17:23,50 David Killed Goliath
II Sam 21:19 Elhanan killed Goliath

Galatians 6:2 "Bear one another's burden"
Galatians 6:5 "Each man will bear his own burden."

I Sam 15:29 "God will not lie r repent, for he is not a man that he should repent."
I Sam 15:10-11 "I repent that I have made Saul King."

But you're right, the Bible does not contradict itself al all....

But suppose the unsaved spouse is the one who insists on a divorce. "If the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace" (I Corinthians 7:15).

This obviously means that the Christian husband or wife is then at liberty to remarry. In fact, if there are children involved, and if a caring Christian spouse can be found, it would be good to remarry, for children need the love and guidance of both a father and mother, provided, of course, that the stepmother or stepfather is "in the Lord" (I Corinthians 7:39) and desires to assume such a responsibility.

Heaven the Holy Ghost is rejected by so many because there eyes are on themselves and pride wont allow them to humble themselves to A place before God
that is one of love and Obedience.

Why isn't it received by the masses?
Because sadly the masses Don't know and love the God they claim to serve.
If you don't know him you cannot love him. If you don't love him you wont obey him
If you wont obey him you wont Honor him.
People choose self Over God.

CHOOSE YOU THIS DAY

Accounts of Delusions and Hallucinations
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I've written before of how, many years ago, in 1986, I experienced communion with God. The conversation took place on 3 consecutive nights while I lay in bed.
These conversations took place in and around a prayer.
I was feeling desperate and very alone + filled with fear, as I lay in my bed in a bedroom on the ground floor of a drapeless 2-bedroom apartment. It was my first night alone in a body then unable to effectively deal with most interactions usually-necessary for a single adult in this society.
I knew the basics of prayer. I just hadn't been the author of one in 10-15 years.
I asked God to help me.
And I asked Him to protect me.
Those first 2 nights here, the prayer was really short.
Then on the 3rd night, I began the prayer the usual way, but then something changed a little.
I'm unable to accurately describe it, but something like the voice-of-conscience each of us has, sounded inside my head.
See? The voice in the head.
It was something else again. A little more intense.
This Voice repeated my requests back to me.
Then in a tone I could not ignore, I was assured of the granting of my requests.
Voices in the head..

Here's a really good one.
I had an OBE when I was 16. I was recovering from a bad case of flu when I suffered from Reyes Syndrome. It was early in the first widespread outbreak, so even doctors did not know much about it.I had a fever of 105.6 and it kept rising higher and higher.
A pretty detailed and feverish conversation with god to save the world while under the spell of a high fever.
During the OBE I stood before God, who did appear as a being of light. I was scared beyond belief. I said "God, I'm only sixteen. I am still young and there are so many things I want to do in my life. I want to get married, have children and grow old. If you will put me back in my body, I will do anything you say." He said, "Are you sure you mean anything?" I said, "Yes, God. I mean anything." He said, " You will save the world from evil." (I was Catholic at the time, so I was expecting Him to say something more like, "say 800 rosaries, or 1200 Hail Mary's" or something. I was also expecting to see St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. There was neither one present.) "I said what do you mean?" He said, "You will save the world from the Evil One, Satan." Before I could object, I was back in my body. Forty-five minutes had elapsed from the time I was pronounced dead until I opened my eyes and spoke. No, I was not dreaming or hallucinating. I was not only dead, but dead long enough for my body to go from raging with fever to already turning cold! In another fifteen minutes or so I would have started turning stiff!

Bev's hallucinations...
Voices and physical interaction.

This morning I was thinking about the date I was planning for this week end, he was driving a great distance here and was going to stay in town. I was getting ready to pour my coffee and suddenly, it was like I was physically pushed backwards and I heard, "BACK OFF." Lol, I love it, guess who was telling me that that one wasn't going to happen either to just back off.
Now, I know you guys will think I am hearing voices, am crazy, but I am not, and voices don't push you backwards, not enough to make me think I would fall, but enough to know that I was thinking about meeting the wrong man.
=========================================================================

Hunt said he actually met Jesus. Thats a full blown hallucination...

Bev, where did it mention a wife divorcing her husband? That was Yash's point.

allow her not to remarry?

Actually, according to Matthew, it was to REQUIRE her not to remarry. What I believe our creator would do is besides the point as I don't believe the bible's the word of God, while you do - the bible clearly states that she cannot remarry, nor can her husband.

Yes the bible speaks of divorcing ones wife but it does not speak of a wife divorcing ones owner, master to whom she was given as property without any rights of her own.

You would learn a lot about things if you study actual history rather than fables. Read about when and how the concept of marriage came about and when!!!!!!

Bev I understand what you are refering to.
My marriage ended four years after I came back to God.
Light hath no fellowship with darkness.
We grew apart. she was unfaithful
And no matter what I did to make things work
The Gap grew wider and wider till
we had absolutely nothing in common.

I finally divorced and moved on.

You have to realize, heaven, that the Lord was dealing with a man who wanted to put away his wife and marry a younger woman.

he said in that day not in that SAME day.

But in Hunt's Bible it says....

Genesis 2:17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

I don't see where I changed words. My first post was a paraphrase. This post is the quote. There's a difference. Had I quoted it as being "the Same day" You may have something, but sorry, the scripture is right here in this post for all to enjoy.

I love when people can't back up things they say....

Nice try again though.

The Bible is riddled with contradictions.
