An interesting thing popped up on the screen while we were wainting for Iron Man to start (great movie - must see)

It said that if you counted all the stars, in a single galaxy, at a rate of one-per-second, it would take 3,000 years to count them all.

Mind you that is in ONE galaxy.

OK, here's the point.

hunt is harshly critical of me about the universal God thing (although I don't think I ever really pushed the idea, just said it sounded plausible) Well, once hunt takes up the white throne and does the judging, I am going to get pretty worried (seems to me he fancies himself sitting there already)

Just for a moment, lets say people like him are right, and only people of the Christian faith, here on Earth will ever make it into the next world. That is a fairly small portion of Earth's population. In billions upon billions upon billions upon billions of stars, there has to many other planets with sentient life. That would mean, the Christians here on Earth, an infinitestial small portion of sentient beings, would be the only ones going to heaven.

Imagine if you were able to visit a few of these other planets. Soon as you get of the ship, you would say "Oh by the way, we have a guy on Earth, calls himself hunt, he says you're all going to hell"

I try not to push the idea of, other religions pointing to the same omni-potent God, but it certainly sound plausible to me.

There are bible verses to support that position.

THere is the one about other sheep in other flocks.

There is also the one about the two men who worked for the same boss. One worked only half the day but got the same pay. When the guy who worked all day complained. the boss said "my contract with you is not the same as my contract with him." That could be intrepreted as not everyone gets the same deal with God, or that God does not appear to all people's in the same way.

Another verse is to not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing.

The bottom dollar is, is up to each of us to find a peace and establish our own covenant with God. If some jackass steps in and tries to what your faith should bo like, tell him to fly a friggin kite. Ulitmately it is your call. You are the one that has your very self on the line.

You have to follow what you perceive as being right and being the truth.

Good thread. (I'm so polite today )

There's just too much out there. Mathematically, there has to be other life outside our little solar system. (Boy I'm gonna get slaughtered for that comment)

If you were to look at some of the Pre-biblical religions, there's alot to consider. Most have reference to "Gods" coming from the Heavens. Annunaki, (sumerian gods), translates into "Those from heaven to Earth did come." Makes you wonder a bit.

The problem with some is that they refuse to consider thoughts outside the box. There is NO way they can be 100% sure that they are right. Again, to beat an old dog ito the ground, Faith does not make something true.

And using Biblical verses to "prove" other Biblical verses is just silly.

Did anyone know the Buddha spoke of sentient life on other worlds and realms 2,500 years ago?

Amazing really.

I've heard something along those lines. I'm still familiarizing myself with Buddism currently, so I'n not an authority on it by any means.

The Sumerians talked of "Outlanders" and the Sumerian King List as well as Sumerian clay tablets and cylinder seals, lists all the rulers of Earth back over 400,000 years.

The Sumerians never called the Anunnaki, 'gods.' They were called "din.gir", a two-syllable word. 'Din' meant 'righteous, pure, bright;' 'gir' was a term used to describe a sharp-edged object. As an epithet for the Anunnaki 'dingir' meant 'righteous ones of the bright pointed objects.'

They also had a "tree of Life." Kind of like the Adam and Eve story. And according to the Sumerians, the first human (man) created by the Annunaki, was named "A-Dom".

Weird, huh?

You said that I don't know God.

You talk down to people all the time.

Life is too short to fiddle with people like you.

I am here for a intellectual debate. You don't offer that.

Not much of that going on here. But there is a lot of misdirection, and deception going on here moment by moment.

Hunt, do you realize you are going to hell by your own admission?

And what about these lies you keep saying?
