Well, after having asked a number of times without answer from anyone except for j_goose, (who wasn't able to remember the title of the thread in question either); I will post a few other Biblical examples of when the Word tells us that the Father wants us to become more dependent upon Him. (And not more independent as some suggest.)
(Thank you for trying to help j_goose. )
Psalm 55:22--"Cast all your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall." 1Peter 5:7--"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." Matthew 11:28--"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29--Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30--For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Then there is the Parable of the Lost Son found in Luke, beginning in verse11--"Jesus continued: 'There was a man who had two sons. 12--The younger one said to his father, father, give me my share of the estate. So he divided the property between them. 13--Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14--After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15--So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16--He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17--When he came to his senses, he said, How many of my father's men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18--I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19--I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men. 20--So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21--The son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and I have sinned against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. 22--But the father said to his servants, Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23--Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24--For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and it found. So they began to celebrate. 25--Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26--So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27--Your brother brother has come, he replied, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound. 28--The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29--But he answered the father, Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30--But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him. 31--My son, the father said, you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32--But we have to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'" In this story told by Jesus, we are shown God's amazing love. He is the father character in the story. We are shown that His faithful, amazing love embraces all who choose to seek Him. Regardless of their story.

I may not subscribe to the Bible munbo jumbo, and I'll tear it apart in my own way, but I'll still try to be helpful to those in need. (Like any good christian would)

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him This example has always been so uplifting to me. "While still a long way off".....................Shows me that no matter who we are or what we believe........no matter how far off the mark, or path, if you will...........we are not condemned........we are accepted by the Father.............regardless of our condition. His Love is not based on our condition...............He loves all.

Lois,
That is what I get out of that scripture.
Sadly though, that is not why SOC posted it. SOC may think that god's love is amazing, but he still believes it is conditional.
Peace

Any reason to create dissension. Quite obviously your opinion is in error.
Clearly I said without condition.
You really have become tiresome.
Not only with your retalliating posts to me, but your unprovoked attacks on Angel too. You've been disputing her posts for years. Yet with Angel, following your nasty and occasionally sarcastic posts, this person Sail_Dancer tries to gloss things over.
But He still loves you Sail. He is waiting for you.

"His amazing love" is something you might find in your local gay bar but I doubt you would find the invisible man there.
Basically your OP is nothing but an allegory of non-human non-animal imagery created by a mind that can not comprehend human love and animal love in the flesh. A very lonely life.

Clearly I said without condition. If that is the case, upon death all people would be saved. But your belief is that you must accept Jesus to be saved. Your god then places conditions on his love.
Peace

No sail. No conditions on His love. But salvation is not something we are entitled to at birth. Salvation IS conditional.

SOC,
Salvation IS conditional. Only because your god's egotism is greater than his love for his creation.
You cannot kill, destroy or eternally punish someone that you love.
Peace

Well, that's at least the beginning of the journey Sail_Dancer. That does sound like an acknowledgement anyway.
I'm pretty sure that by now, you also understand what it is you must do next in order to insure yourself of this Gift.
I'm sure you'll soon find yourself greatly relieved. Perhaps you'll even come to embrace that elusive Peace that escapes you.

Wishful thinking Sail. I mean, you know I pray for you, along with dozens of others from MD every morning, (so be confident that I haven't isolated you. I'm not picking on you). And my prayers are all well-intentioned, kindly prayers. (Although this might be a bit of a foreign concept to you.) So while I absolutely know that the words of my last post are nonsensical, I put the thoughts out there anyway because those are my hopes for you.
As you always say Sail---Peace.

Weird stuff.
SOC, you pray for people on MD? Is MD a big part of your social circle? You need to get out more.

hammertime, I've been here for a while. Besides all the friends from here who I pray for, there are the dozens of people from around the area here I pray for also. The second half of my daily prayer focuses on dozens of people from church. Then there are missions from church and people from around the world needing prayer. The first 5 or 6 pages are restricted to family. Thanks for your helpful advice about getting out more, but I already do spend most of my time away from the apartment.

Why don't you just group your prayers together into one big prayer? That should free up a few hours in a day. Why not record the prayer and play it back over and over while you're doing something else. That could allow you to get out more too. How about playing it back with the volume turned all the way up. Maybe that will give it more of a kick.

Again, what this story means to me. It is my favorite.
This son/person left his family/beliefs...and he had everything, love, wealth and standing in the community of his times. He went out..into the world and did everything that went against the "rules" of his upbringing and the laws of that time. He even ate and lay down with pigs. There could have been nothing more unclean and vile then that....It amounted to turning his back on Christ and being the lowest satan worshiping unbeliever........in our times.
YET!!!!!
When he was a long way off...............before he ever came face to face with his earthy Father.......before he could even ask for forgiveness......to promise to and prove to change his ways...........His Father RAN to meet him....No questions asked.............no shame applied......no finger pointing bashing...........His Father welcomed him home with open arms. Of course, his brothe{ could be seen as brother in Christ too} was in the background...bitching. Yeah, but he did this.......he didn't do that...shame, shame, shame....finger pointing....saying how much of a "better" " obedient" son he was!!!!!! So too, does Christ/God run to us. He meets us where we are...........without condemnation..........without shame or threats and fear. His Love has only open arms and welcome...............without conditions.
