Alright now,another state ratifies gay marriage.California has allowed gays to marry and a jubilant George Takei of Star Trek fame married his partner of 21 years.Gee,I suppose now every mudslide,earth tremor or anything else bad that happens to California now will be interpreted as God's wrath by the fundies.
Gee,now gays in California can enter the whole marriage/divorce debacle and be just as miserable a straight couples.

I don't know if I am a fundy or not. I consider myself a Christain.
I think, anytime two people live together for an exteneded period of time, they ought to be able to file taxes together, get covered by each other's insurance, etc.
There is legal marraige and there is religious marraige and the two aren't necessarrily the same.
Legal marraige is bascially joining two people together financially.
Religous marraige is however the two people calling getting married define it.
For me, marraige is a man and a woman. For some it can be other thing. I don't want anyone judging my marraige, so i try not to judge anyone else's.

One of the other newly married couples are two lesbians who have been partners for 57 years. They had tried once before to marry, and had been married at City Hall in San Francisco a couple of years back.
There are many mainline Protestant churches and Reformed synagogues that have been performing religious commitment services for years. Now in CA, those services will have the weight of legal status.

It would be nice if more Christians adopted your point of view,Lance.However I'm sure others would castigate you for watering down your spiritual witness by showing tolerance.

Funny how Britney Spears can marry someone for 56 hours (her first husband), but its two guys who have been together for nearly 30 years that will destroy the institution of marriage.
A year after gay marriage was approved in Massachusetts, the Boston Globe reinterviewed many of the more vocal opponents and found that the vast majority of them had a change of heart. The world didn't end, the rights of many children who grow up in gay households were secured, etc.

I know the type you describe, but I sort of disagree on how wide spread they are. I avoid them, and care little for them. I think that most Christians are more sensible, just that the lunaticts are so loud and visible, you don't have to hunt for them.

Same-sex marriage has been legal nationwide in Canada now since 2005, I believe.
Probably the key reason those Phelps have a site called GodHatesCanada. We are the fourth country to do so; I believe God also hates Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Belgium.
Maybe now with 2 states in the mix, other states will follow sooner rather than later, although I think it will be a slow process.
Funny that the wrath of God doesn't come down for wife-beaters but will for two men or women loving each other.
