Hammer, I agree! But getting that good "Spiritual" wisdom would be worth thousands of understandings.
Food for thought to go with your fruit of the vine: 
A literal talking ass. Now, wisdom taught that it was an "incarnated" Angel speaking. But if you believe in "reincarnate", ask yourself if it is literally possible.

Not to whine by labelling this thread "sour grapes", but I'm not buying into that cute little "Vine and Branches" parable as the ONLY way to reap fruit. Anyone who has spent any time gathering WILD grapes from their sturdy vines, often 6" or more in diameter -- turning them into jam, juice and wine -- knows that NATURE does a mahvelous job of pruning and supplying a bountiful harvest for both critters and people to share and sustain them, as they see fit.

Doesn't make sense why Jesus would make instant wine instead of using grapes from the vine. What? Too long? He didn't know how much time he had? If he really wanted to teach a lesson about vines, he would have grown his own grapes with his own vines instead of just talking about them.

God does miracle cures in our lives. He also shapes us as we grow in him. He prunes away the bad , We grow even greater through his tending He gives us blessings at times. Yet sometimes the greatest blessings are those that require us to grow, and evolve in him. Many of these blessings come with a decrease of self and a growth of him. Slowly we become what we are meant to be. There are no shortcuts. Man made religions are attempts at shortcutting Gods way of doing things.

hammer the world today wants to live in darkness and reject God then in times of need cry pray for me and expect results. God sees the hearts of men and where there is honor I believe he responds.
I could tell you a story that just recently happened in my life, but if I did It would be belittled and made fun of in unbelief and disrespect. Or be taken as a boast. So I will keep it to myself. But I know the moving of the power of God. And the reality of his healing touch. I also know when God wants us to pray for a given person his witness will be on it. And if we obey , The prayer will be answered, For it was God that initiated it. These are the times I pray for others, And God has healed them more then once. Obedience is required. We must decrease that he might Increase.
