In Oxford, England, in 1988, I asked Svetlana Savistskaya for her explanation of a remarkable encounter she and five other Soviet astronauts had while orbiting the earth in their Soyez 7 space station. They had all reported seeing a blinding light and "seven giant figures in the form of humans, but with wings and mistlike halos as in the classic depiction of angels. They appeared to be hundreds of feet tall...We were truly overwhelmed...They were smiling as though they shared as though they shared a glorious secret." Hindu scriptures have long proclaimed that certain devas inhabit the region between the earth and the moon, so I was eager to hear more of the space-travelers' encounter. Sadly, Svetlana parroted the party line, offering cautiously that astronauts "work under great stress in space and psychologists are inquiring into the reasons" for such phenomena. Science had convinced her and five others that their shared vision was an occupational affliction, an hallucination.

Awww, gee, too bad. Reality sucks doesn't it Bev? Both Soviet and American space missions carried an array of still, motion picture and television cameras on board. Not one of these astronauts managed to squeeze off one frame. Wonder why?

What the shows is people hallucinate their religious visions that reflect the culture from which they came. A Christian will hallucinate Jesus or Mary and a Hindu will hallucinate a deva. An ancient Greek might have hallucinated Hercules or Aphrodite. Shaman have their own nature visions of spirits of the jungle.
What this proves is that Christianity as other religions embrace their mental impressions. Christianity takes it a step in the wrong direction by enhancing mentally ill aspects of their aberrations. The others seeks to obtain insight into their visions. The Native American uses opium, peyote, snake bites and sweat lodges for their "vision quest". They have a very powerful way of entering into their own minds and spiritual essence.
Communication with the gods is where a sage or visionary enters into their own mind, the unconscious and deeper self, their own essence of knowing themselves. The early Christian Gnostics did the same thing. They were more truer to what spirituality is and that was a threat then to the political powers that be. Hindu transcendental meditation is similar.
Visionaries often encounter demons. These are where the visionary meets themselves, to conquer the demon is to conquer fear and self limitation. That is when you know you are breaking new ground and spiritually progressing. To transform one's inner demons is to break free of binding forces that hold you down.
The Christian never breaks through. They are always binded in fear and ignorance. Spiritual Christians are quiet different. They do not suffer in this way but break through as they are in touch with that inner aspect of Christ within themselves. To know, gnosis, is to become aware.

That is when you know you are breaking new ground and spiritually progressing. To transform one's inner demons is to break free of binding forces that hold you down.
Therapists treating sleep disorders associated with recurring nightmares use a similar MO by having patients learn the art of lucid dreaming, where they become "awake" during their nightmare and confront their "demons" and "monsters". Often when a patient dreams of a demon or monster, they are taught to confront the monster and question it. Usually the monster turns into a person with whom the patient has had difficulty with, such as a relationship with a parent or other authority figure in life. One patient who was plagued with a recurring nightmare of a reptile monster, confronted the beast and it turned into his deceased father who told him that all he wanted him to do was get his life together and use some self discipline and restraint. The patient said that his father's criticisms were valid, he worked on self improvement and the nightmares ceased.

Shared hallucinations are not that uncommon. I've experienced them myself back in the 70's when doing acid with friends. I think it was during the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 that almost the entire audience reported seeing a UFO hovering over the stage. So large that they said it blocked the sun.
But then I guess you, Bev, would interpret that as a mass illusion put on by Satan to deceive the audience with counterfiet miracles. I've heard that one before.

Are rainbows supernatural? They are formed by the sun's light refraction in the mist that remains after a storm. Can it be touched? Felt? Should it be considered "of god"?
Cloud formations many times look like figures we see in every day life. A rabbit. A shaggy dog. An angel, A devil. Does this mean that rabbits, dogs, angels and devils are fliyng around in the air above us?
An immage of Jesus appears on a dog's ass. Is this dog to be considered "holy" or a "miracle"?
The eyes can pull tricks on us and the shapes it sees are immediately identified by our brains. Some people realize that the brain is only identifying the shape and not the an actual being. Christians usually will agree with this. But in cases where there is any chance of something being supernatural, they become irrational and their delusional dogma takes over.

We can all look at cloud formation and see dragons and angels. Whoopie!!! Aren't all figures in the constellations the same things? Bev suffers a mental illness that prevents her from living in reality and confabulates and even hallucinates. Hallucinations are mental illnesses. Groups of people seeing illusions at the same time are what people like Criss Angel, Doug Henning, and David Copperfield do for a living like making elephants disappear, sawing women in half and pulling rabbits out of a hat. They do what nature does naturally. The Christian preacher is a faker however. They use stage magic too and cheat people of their money for false hope and lies. They would really want you to believe a real rabbit magically appeared out of a hat. At least the other guys are entertainers and don't pretend to be god's messengers.

Well, and it continues, three days later, they saw the same angels again. Lol, mass delusion, I don't think so. These were scientists and skeptics and unbelievers, and they admitted what they had seen, it is not a myth, hammer. It happened.

Anyone submit it to snopes? I've looked,it definitely has the feel of a religous urban legend, like the scientists who were drilling near Siberia, stuck a microphone down the hole and could hear the screams from hell.

From a Biblical perspective, I've never been able to find where angels came in bright light form. The visions of the Old Testament prophets described "creatures and beasts" and "firey chariots". The vision of Daniel is about the closest refference I know of that is anywhere near these light creatures. Historically, according to Biblical myth, angels most often just resembled people. The three angels that visited Lot appeared as men of that time period according to Genesis.
