Sail, what Christians believed that Jesus was only a spiritual being. The whole essence of Christianity is his birth, death and resurrection. How could they be Christians and believe him simply a spiritual being.
This was early gnostic christian belief.

Peace

Justin Martyr was the first to say Satan made copies before the original. He had some imagination. Justin Martyr that is, not Satan. Oh well Satan too. I'm sure Satan does have an imagination too. After all he did invent rock and roll..

well, know that depends on whether you call the gnostics Christians. You see you cannot be a Christian and not have the birth and death of Jesus on the Cross, How could Jesus be your saviour, you Lord if he didn't reconcile you with God to bring you salvation by dying for you. That is what he came to do.

Now, there is where you and sail need to educate yourselves.

I have no reason to be afraid, I go by the Bible, not by what other people do, or people say to do. What do I have to fear? You know the great counterfeiter is Satan, can't you all see that he is real and what he was doing?

Has anyone of you ever seen a real exorcism? They showed one on Tv, it is more than amazing, you should study up on things like that, the supernatural is real.

In my church, we call it deliverance and I have done deliverance work. I have seen a woman's eyes which were brown turn green. I have seen him speak out of people and cover their eyes with their hands and say, "the light, the light, I can't stand the light." I have seen lights flashing all around the room, going around and around the room. I was not alone, others were with me, we all saw and heard the same things. You see, once you come to the realization that satan is real, you have to know that if he is real, then God is real.

Jeezly Crow. The bible was written by MANY men over an extended period of time. You ARE going by what other people do and what other people say to do.

Just cause it's on t/v doesn't make it real. Trust me on that one....

Bev, I have seen some pretty wacked out stuff in my life too...BUT...I don't credit what I like with one thing and the things I don't like with another.

The story of a Jewish teacher who taught by examples and parables. You are suddenly left with nothing more or less that the teachings of a man named Jesus. When you get down to that...you have what may have been an incredible man who walked the earth, changed the beliefs of millions. It's MORE astounding to me when looked at it that way.

I love this.....well said!

This reminds me of one of my favorite little songs by a lady named Iris Dement. She has a strange voice, and you can probably find this song on utube or something. I sing this at my shows sometime.....

The one line that is highlighted makes the song perfect. At least it works for me.

By the way....you all should be congratulated on the way this discussion is being handled. Very civil and respectful.....nice!

Let The Mystery Be

Everybody's wonderin' what and where they all came from.
Everybody’s worryin' 'bout where they're gonna go
when the whole thing's done.
But no one knows for certain and so it's all the same to me.
I think I'll just let the mystery be.

Some say once you're gone you're gone forever,
and some say you're gonna come back.
Some say you rest in the arms of the Savior
if in sinful ways you lack.
Some say that they're comin' back in a garden,
bunch of carrots and little sweet peas.
I think I'll just let the mystery be.

Some say they're goin' to a place called Glory
and I ain't saying it ain't a fact.
But I've heard that I'm on the road to purgatory
and I don't like the sound of that. ( Love that line too! )
Well, I believe in love and I live my life accordingly.
But I choose to let the mystery be.

Respectfully submitted.....

No, the Bible was mainly written by Paul, the New Testament. Anything that is written there was inspired by the Holy Spirit, now unless you know Him, you can never understand this nor know it as the truth.

You see, the major part of the New Testament is a collection of letters written by Paul.

People, life is a journey, unless you set your sights on a destination, you will wander around and wind up nowhere. I want to KNOW where I am going.

Knowledge, study will tell you that the Old Testament is the Jewish Covenant with God, the New Testament is the Christian's covenant with God. Haven't you ever seen those little New Testament Bibles being handed out, or had one. You see, if we only have the New Testament, we have all we need. I love the Old Testament, love the stories, which by the way, I saw on the History Channel the other day, is being proven true by archaeologists more and more everyday. We have all the promises of the Old Testament and none of the curses, but anything that is vital for us to have of the Old Testament is repeated in the New Testament.

The teachings and examples set by Jesus are what is important, not the other myths and folklore that has been added.

You know uab, I used to be the same way and found Paul's writings very boring when I was young. Now, I love them, but when I was young, it was just Jesus that I loved, and I am talking about very young.

I found out that there was soooo much that I was missing by not reading the rest of the New Testament. Now, take it from an old Christian. Simpy ask for the leading and instruction of the Holy Spirit and dig in, you will find that you love the other books in the New Testament, they are so rich in faith and teachings.

I love the Psalms, they are beautiful, lyrical, inspiring, and I love the proverbs, they are so full of wisdom. I also love all the Bible Stories, but I learned those as a child.

Thats the profane story of dogma. The sacred is a symbolic death, no real physical death because its a metaphor. If this was a real murder on the cross, that only proves Jesus saved no one especially himself.

Anything that is written there was inspired by the Holy Spirit,
So people were channeling a ghost? Wooooo. Spooky. No such thing in real life so they were inspired by creating dogma, fable and tales. Imagination does all the inspiring.

You see, the major part of the New Testament is a collection of letters written by Paul.
about 50% from someone who never met Jesus but had plenty of hallucinations. Thats why you like this guy. He says nothing of the life of Jesus but just lots of dogma.

Blind to God's truth

"...the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." John 3:19-20

"... if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
"For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. ?For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God...." 2 Corinthians 4:3-6

"Hear this now, O foolish people, without understanding,
Who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not:
Do you not fear Me?’ says the Lord.
‘Will you not tremble at My presence?" Jeremiah 5:21-22

"But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear...." Zachariah 6:11-12

They do not understand

"...the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not ??comprehend it." John 1:5

"...always learning and never able ?to come to the knowledge of the truth. " 2 Timothy 3:7

?"...Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them, ?that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: '?I will open My mouth in parables; ?I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.'?” Matthew 13:34-35

"And the disciples came and said to Him, 'Why do You speak to them in parables?' ?He answered and said to them, 'Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. ...

Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed...." Matthew 13:10-15

"Paul... has written to you, ?as also in all his ?epistles... in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the ??rest of the Scriptures.
? "You therefore, beloved, ??since you know this beforehand, ??beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; ??but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:15-18

"But He turned and said to Peter, 'Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.'” Matthew 16:23

"These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” Matthew 15:8-9

?"I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’" Acts 26:17-18

“You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse..." Ezekiel 2:7

"For this reason we... do not cease to pray for you, and to ask ?o?that you may be filled with ??the knowledge of His will ??in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; ?that you may walk worthy of the Lord, ?fully pleasing Him, ?being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the ?knowledge of God; ?strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, ? ?for all patience and longsuffering ?with joy; ? ?giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of ? ?the inheritance of the saints in the light. ? He has delivered us from ? ?the power of darkness ? ?and ? ?conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, ? ?in whom we have redemption ? ?through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:9-14

Only by His Spirit can we see

"He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. ” Luke 24:45

?"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” 1 Corinthians 2:12

"And we know that the ??Son of God has come and ??has given us an understanding, ?that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. ??This is the true God ?and eternal life." 1 John 5:20

"...we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. ?? But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ??ordained before the ages for our glory, ?which none of the rulers of this age knew; for ?had they known, they would not have ??crucified the Lord of glory.
? "But as it is written: '?Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.?'
? "But ?God has revealed them to us through His Spirit." 1 Corinthians 2:6-10

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Strength to follow the Truth

"Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11

"?Now ??to Him who is able to establish you ??according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, ??according to the revelation of the mystery ??kept secret since the world began ?but ??now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for ?obedience to the faith— ?to ??God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever." Romans 16:25-27

Sorry, don't know why those verse number showed up as question marks.

?"Therefore do not be unwise, but ??understand ??what the will of the Lord is. ?And ??do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another ??in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making ?melody in your heart to the Lord, ??giving thanks always for all things to God the Father ?in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ?submitting to one another in the fear of ?God." Ephesians 5:17

"And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a ?light that shines in a dark place, ??until ?the day dawns and the morning star rises in your ?c?hearts; ?knowing this first, that ?no prophecy of Scripture is of any private ??interpretation, ?for ?prophecy never came by the will of man, ??but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter 1:19

??"I am Your servant; give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies." Psalm 119:125

You asked, ?'?Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge??’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
??Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know." Job 42:3

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." 2 Timothy 2:15

Enough C&P. No one reads it anyway.

And people have been getting in trouble for not citing there sources, Bev. A link would be sufficient.

And none of that has to do with the topic of this thread. I believe last night you said you didn't go into threads that weren't "Christian".
