I will start with these scriptures.
Matthew 20:28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Luk 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost
Mat 1:21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

Bev,
Luke 4
43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee. Jesus said that the reason he was sent was to "preach the kingdom of god".

Matthew 10:34, "Don't imagine that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword!" And that he did...for the "sword" is the word from God...

Okay, what about him coming to fulfill the hebraic covenant that said he would come to give his life so that man would be reconciled with God, for the remission of sins, a blood covering, a blood sacrifice?

Another recycled theme of pagan worship. Blood sacrifice pre dates Christianity. It's a primitive belief that works on fear.

Thor, today, if you become a blood brother with another man, or if you did that as a boy, did it not mean something special? What if I say that something is written in blood, what does that mean to you?
In the case of Jesus, it was His LIFE, the life is in the blood. He gave HIS LIFE for you, but a blood covenant has always been a binding covenant, the most binding of all covenants, you know. If you were to shed your life's blood for someone, would that not be very special? Would that not mean you gave your life for another?

If you were to shed your life's blood for someone, would that not be very special? Would that not mean you gave your life for another? Totally illogical. Has no practical value except to make someone feel better. Like General Patton once said about sacrificing your life, "No poor dumb bastard ever won a war by dying for his country, that's not being a hero. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his country."
I'm not downplaying the virtue of self sacrifice, but to die for something so silly as an esoteric religious cause does nothing for the people for whom the sacrifice is supposed to be.
What good is a person to any cause if they're dead, except maybe as a martyr for PR purposes? Sorry, don't believe in resurrection, just another ancient pagan belief that was tied into the cyclical patterns of nature. Modern man needs no more myths.Practicality and rationality are what is needed.

Sail, since you profess to believe in the words of Jesus, Jesus said,
MATTHEW 26 26 ΒΆ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Bev,
You are referring to a gospel that was written and tweaked to be the basis of the state religion of the Roman empire.
That is not providing any proof that my post was incorrect, it was only restating your dogmatic beliefs.
We have already discussed in other threads that the last supper and the ceremony associated with it originated in pagan beliefs and that Rome insisted on adding pagan rituals into christianity before they adopted it as their state religion.
A majority of christian leaders made the decision to bastardize early christian doctrine with pagan practices in return for protection from Rome.
Peace

That's basically where the Bible was "written".
