Load of old rubbish!

Mathematical patterns can be gained from almost anything. Even a roulette table has a pattern despite the fact it is supposed to be fool proof. The universe is built on probability therefore there are probabilities in the bible. Has no significance whatsoever except to make someone some money.

On the scientific study C&P on the bible code, we should likely give it the same weight as the probabilities offered for proving the veracity of bible prophecy. That proof offered that 2000 of 2500 bible prophecies have come true.

When the temple in Jerusalem is rebuilt again, the prophecy of a savior coming will come back into play...I wonder what religion will result in that...of course today's church will be at war with that messiah...we've prestaged the defense with our tailored understanding of Revelations. I call it the intellectual lockout created by a church to provide a defense against anything that might impact its unloving and irresponsible use of its authority.

The world around us is made of sequences, strings, and repeating combinations formed from a limited number of discreet elements, be they atoms or letters. In the English lanquage of 26 letters it is very likely that words will form by looking at positional sequences of letters in paragraphs, and some will work to create sentences of truth with much bad grammar.

Probability says a thousand monkeys with typewriters will eventually type out the bible...change the language font and they will do it in tongues.

Who said anything about hate? Scientific and rational thought are indifferent to God.

Christians believe they have a full understanding of the meaning coded into 666 and 616 in the bible.

Because a reader decided the code meant Nero in the 60's AD, or to Genghis Khan in the 1200s, or Hitler in the 20th century and now to the VISA card, one might think we have come full range and say we might not have figured it out...but these were useful at the time.

Solutions to what offer meanings for understanding of the layers hidden in the OT and NT, can be found in the Midrash and Pesharim. Of course those with direct two-way comm to God already have understanding of the meaning of what was taught.

The oddity of this is the holy book ascribes these things for all people, and the rules to be really clear and succinct. Yet for a group that is to be recognized for its love, justifications are still offered for judging, hating, fearing anyone not like me, and dooming them to eternal damnation.

Both the church of my upbringing and members of my family were highly skilled at letting everyone know they were doing it wrong, no matter what was tried. We were always given a new set of scripture to prove it. The only way they would stop this is when a family member joined the clergy. I guess one was then on the right and proper path with direct lines to God.

At a young age, learning to read for myself, I discovered what was there...and quickly learned that these folks would not tolerate scripture from me that went contrary to what they used to justify their beliefs and behaviors.

bump...

Scholars have tried to find 'code' in other major books, such as the Illiad and the Odyssey- and several other big literary reads, to see if they could find any code. There was none. They used the large volumes to ensure that there were enough pages to make the work comparable to the Bible and because if it happened to be just an accident, based on the volume, it would happen in other literary pieces.
It didn't.

"1666 - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Year 1666 (MDCLXVI) was a common year starting on Friday (link will display the full calendar) of the Gregorian calendar (or a common year starting on Monday of the 10-day slower Julian calendar). Often called Annus Mirabilis, the year 1666 is mentioned in the poem Annus Mirabilis. This year also saw a great advance in mathematics and physics by Isaac Newton. The year is also known for having all the Roman numerals, used only once, in order from biggest to smallest value.
Contents

Events of 1666

January - June

* June 11-June 14 - Second Anglo-Dutch War - Four Days Battle: The Dutch fleet defeats England.

January 17 - Chair of St. Peter set above the Altar at Cathedra Petri, Vatican City.

Source: http://www.saintpetersbasilica.org/Altars/Cathedra/Cathedra.htm

July - December

* August 5 - St. James's Day Battle: An English fleet defeats the Dutch under Michiel de Ruyter.
* August 9 - Rear Admiral Robert Holmes leads a raid on the Dutch island of Terschelling, destroying 150 merchant ships in the Vlie estuary, and pillaging the town of West-Terschelling, an act later referred to as Holmes's Bonfire.
* September 2 - Great Fire of London: A large fire breaks out in London in the house of Charles II's baker on Pudding Lane near London Bridge. The fire burns for 3 days, destroying 10,000 buildings including St. Paul's Cathedral, but only 16 people are known to have died. People claim that it is the Devil's deed, for 1666 contains 666.
* September 5 - The Great Fire of London ends."

The Great Fire of London ended the Black Death - researchers now believe that the plague carrier was destroyed.

The defeat of the Dutch enabled the English settlement of new colonies in America, later grouped as New England.

I don't know if they are codes, but all dates have significance... every moment in time is a moment for all of us. Just that, some dates, for some reason, have way more significance than others.

For instance, 1666 and the 4th of July, 1776.

(4th not 14th July - Freudian slip!)

I know a woman who wrote a book that prophesied 911, I mean, down to the letter.

Whenever I see things like this, I am always reminded about a book that was written 1898 called Futility by Morgan Robertson. It is the story of a passanger cruise ship called the Titan that hits an iceberg in the North Atlantic ocean in April and sinks. In the book, the loss of life is great due to the fact that there were not enough lifeboats. The ship was described as indestructable, and the largest ship afloat.

The similarities between the Titan and the Titanic are mind boggling. Coincedance or prophesy?

Hmmmmm.... (Insert Twilight Zone music here).......

Yes Horizon, that story about the original "Titan" is very well known.

When the Titanic sank in similar circumstances, that caused critics to go into denial and claim that the whole story of the book about the "Titan" was a fraud, that it was published after the Titanic sank. It was even claimed at the time that the reviews of the book were falsified.

>THE TITAN<

Even stranger, the unsinkable Titanic's sister ship, the Britannic, was also sunk - by German torpedoes in WW1. Then it was assumed that its watertight compartments and red cross markings (it was a hospital ship) would protect it from attack.

I suppose the moral is that we should never challenge fate by declaring anything as invincible, unsinkable, or invulnerable... Except maybe the unsinkable Molly Brown...

Conduct, you mean like electricity?

What are the chances of a lightning rod being struck by lightning? Now that would be a prophecy, can I get odds on that lol

Namaste, Bev,,
I'm glad you started this thread altho I confess I have only skimmed it but I'm glad it's here for me to come back to
I used to be very interested in the bible codes

I took biblical hebrew(one semester only) but my limited knowledge allowed me to 'ex[erience' for myself the 'thrill of direct recognition' when reading the bible code books

But for now I'm building a' foundation'
Perhaps some day I will go back to the codes and see just how many 'Bible code bricks'
I want to use to build my house
