I was watching a special on the Tibetan people last night. I learned that while they may practice buddhism, they are also shamans. They have many gods and many strange practices. How does this go along with buddhism? Any thoughts?

Anything more stranger than playing with snakes and drinking poison and rolling in isles chanting in gibberish syllables and having hallucinations? You do much of that that yourself.

Let's see they fly flags to their gods then when they become rags, and they take them down to replace them, they fight over who gets the one that was on the very top.

Well, I don't know any Christians who do those things, You do. You hallucinate, speak in gibberish and know plenty of Christians who roll in the isles acting stupid and there are Christians who handle snakes and drink poison. I think those Christians are being true to scripture so why aren't you drinking some strychnine in your coffee? If you really believe they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; then what's the problem?

THIS is what that scripture means. I hate SNAKES, sure am not going to play with one. If someone gives me poison, I am going to be all right. Reminds me of a murder case I saw on tru tv, where a woman who had been married numerous times, and widowed numerous times married a minister. Actually, she was poisoning and killing all her exes and she began trying to do that to him, but, he unlike her exes refused to die and they finally figured out what she was doing. He had more poison in his system than the doctors had ever seen anyone have and still live.

Knots, you need to go study on this one. It showed them fighting over the flags and the gold thing that they put on top of the pole. It was a documentary on Tibet. Amazingly, they have had lots of volcanic activity in the distant past, and have lots of hot springs. They have a water snake that is huge, that thrives there because of the warm springs. The only snake to ever survive in such high altitudes and cold. I bet I am not the only one who watched this, knots.

When Buddhism was adopted in Tibet, so many shamanic practices were incorporated in it that Tibetan Buddhism is, to this day, very different from other forms of Buddhism. When you receive an empowerment or initiation from a reborn lama, a rimpoche (precious jewel), you can sometimes really feel the shamanic energy.
(Most lamas are not consciously reborn with memories of other lives as lamas. The ordinary lamas generally have a geshe (doctorate) degree in Tibetan religious studies, so their ceremonies are word perfect, but the energy is quite different.)
One of the most important practices in Tibetan Buddhism, Chod, came from one of the female founders of Tibetan Buddhism. It is a classic shamanic initiation of dismemberment by the spirits. Interestingly, Tibetan Buddhism coexists very well with shamanism in Siberia, Mongolia, and the countries of Greater Tibet, such as Nepal and Bhutan.

The only authority with respect to God is our ability to give God authority if we choose to believe in a man made concept.

Bev is a pathological liar. She lies on compulsion. She's lied about herself, her credentials and everything else she can. Her personal life is just not good enough to to want to tell the truth but sometimes it still gets out like the alcoholism that runs in her family and the daughter who tried to commit suicide. Its typical in families with alcoholism are very dysfunctional and have plenty of abuse. Its almost like she sets out to destroy the lives of others with sick and toxic religion just so she can get some sort of revenge or some sort of sick compensation.

I think that a scientific study should be undertaken to prove or disprove this christian belief. Bev should be the first christian given poison in this study.

Sail, you have seen the studies done on speaking in tongues. I speak in tongues, but they are NOT gibberish, so, NO, I know no one who does that.
As for lying, I will not stoop that low, what would a lie serve me or God, that is a dumb thing to think that a Christian would lie about God, gee, oxymoronic. Even you guys are smarter than that, I thought.

Yes, speaking in tongues is gibberish because its no language. It has been studied by linguists and its not any language. Also, the language part of the brain is not responsible for the sounds proving again its not a language. Its garbage you believe in. You believe in superstitious crap that is nothing but the kind of behavior a raving idiot would do.
Actually the man who does study this, Andrew Newberg is very much a follower of eastern religions in his personal life.
