I never have been one impressed by showboating religion. You know the sort, people claiming to have riased people from the dead, seen angels, etc. I have sat in church through many a sermon and heard grandiose claims about fantstic events.

When someone claims the fantastic, it is reasonable to be skeptical. If you disbelieve such a story, it is not to say that you don't believe in God, or even that such a thing can happen, you are only saying that you disbelieve that persons claims.

In the bible, Thomas would not believe Yeashua had come back until he touched the nail prints in his hands.

For me, if I was allowed to look at a body, examine it, and was convinced they were very dead, then watched them brough to life, even then I would be skeptical, suspecting it was some sort of ruse.

It always seems like there is never a shortage of folks proclaiming spectacular things. I have had preachers talk of raisings from the dead, angels appearing with flaming swords, yada-yada-yada. You always hear the talk and never see the real thing.

When the devil tempted Yeashua to prove himself, Yeashua told him "God is not tempted". In other words, don't expect God to do a bunch of parlor tricks for you amusement. They are not a Seigfried and Roy tiger act.

Yep, something like inviting people to tender their prayer requests to prove that God exists...there is no proof, there can be no proof.

That's why it's called FAITH!!

You either believe or you don't. And by the way, the number of people who believe anything still makes no difference as to whether it's true or not (as in the number of Christians, and let's not forget the Catholics, are they Christians or not?)

I don't know who's sillier...the silly woman posting this stuff as if by posting it, she's proven anything, or the silly us who argue with her.

Your very words make you just like doubting Thomas, lance. Jesus said that Thomas was blessed because he had seen but more blessed are those who have not seen and believe. You neglected to post that.

So, Jesus was a showboater, lance?

Your post is way out of line and shows your lack of faith and the lack of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and knowledge of His power. He has not changed.

Jesus raised people from the dead, healed people and said, "Even greater things shall ye do in my name."

Not only did you make Jesus a showboater, but you are calling him a liar.

No proof Jesus ever existed let alone any "miracles" and by all accounts miracles arent the monopoly of Christianity. Other religions have a greater monolpoly on miracles.

No, that was the point, he would not perform miracles for the devil's amusement. He was not showboating.

???? How do you get that?

shows your lack of faith and the lack of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and knowledge of His power.
So you are back to judging other people's faith?

Jesus raised people from the dead, healed people and said, "Even greater things shall ye do in my name."
I am ok with that, That's why I said.

Not true. I did neither. I was very clear about differentiating between Yeashua and people claiming to represent him.

It just means he is as blind as you are, sail. Knots, heaven, we EXPECT miracles when we need them and pray for them, they are commonplace among Christians, not just a once in a while occurence. I see them all the time. I have been the recipient of many of them.

Heaven, I offered PRAYER because I cared about them, gee, you think I enjoy having to pray for them????????? If were just me, I would let them just go their merry way and not even CARE about them and what they believe.

So, heaven, you just go your merry way, denying and finding out things for yourself, and I pray that one day you find the Lord, and that it doesn't have to be the hard way.

Now, knots, in reflection, you have some PROOFS of Buddhists raising people from the dead, not EASTERN stuff, American stuff, American buddhist doctor who tells of multiple times he has done this. I am waiting.

Lol, lance, that means you doubt, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and most of all the apostle Paul.

With God all things are possilbe to them that believe. One day you are going to need something powerful from God in your life and you are going to go to those very people you have been doubting.

Why would anyone, especially, a heart surgeon lie about something like that? Lies do not promote the kingdom. You should listen to those people in church who talk of the miracles the Lord does in their lives.

Do you think people stand up in church and testify of lies, lance, of course not. What purpose would that serve. Doesn't make them look any better, doesn't bring glory to them, they didn't do them. It brings only glory to the Lord, lance.

What does Buddhism have to do with the subject of this thread?

You are .

How many threads are you going to use this ploy in?

Stick to the topic!

It should be easy for you. Just be your normal delusional self. Showboating is one of your specialties.

Gee Bev, thanks for giving me permission to keep using the brain that God gave me.

I sure wish you'd try it sometime too. When will you ever get it through your head that you can't talk anyone into believing using anecdotes? Matter of fact, when will you catch on to the fact that you can't TALK anyone into believing anything, unless as Knots said, you're a snake oil salesman. The ones who even incite the slightest interest in examining Christianity again, at least for me, are the ones like Katt, Angel and Lance. I'm sure you see miracles all the time, along with some of your romantic exploits, both of which seem to display a naivete that's amazing in one who's lived as long as you have. Experience is a wonderful teacher, but only if you're paying attention.

Sail, just asking him to rove his claim about miracles, with evidence. Just as all of you have been asking of Christians.

Heaven

Bev-
everyone has a right to their own faith-as you do yours.

I quit coming here because I see it being shredded by the constant cramming.

People of different faiths can interact and discuss without that pile.
If you HONESTLY believe your job is to bring people closer to God....you are not doing it.

And yes=thank you Lance, Jankia, Katt and Angel

Lore, just as Paul fussed at the baby Christians for not growing in the Lord and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, it was not HIS job nor mine to draw you closer to the Lord, you do that on your own.

If praying for others needs to be met is of the devil, then, I guess I fail. If miracles and things that God does for people tempts God, then, something is very wrong.

Lore, all I can do is present the truth, if you don't like it, pray about it. Ask for that baptism of the Holy Spirit that Paul spoke of, the doctor in my post spoke of, I speak of.

I move in the way I am called to move. Just make sure you move in the way you are called to move. Do you care about people when you don't care if they are not going to go to heaven? Jesus is the only way into the kingdom. If I fuss or make them mad, so be it, but maybe, just maybe, I make them think. I can only plant the seeds, only the Holy Spirit can convict.

The only other thing I can do is ask for their prayer requests so that they can see that God does answer prayers, that He is real. Now, if that offends you, I am extremely sorry.

Knotty, strange, you can demand those things of me. Now, are you a fruitcake? I would never call you that.

I gave you guys what you have been asking for. Now, let us see some proof of the miracles you speak of, something as valid as what I gave you, as certifiable, and of this country. Like I said, you would never have accepted anything from another country, and there are lots of verified miracles from other countries.

Bev,

Why is it that you are the person God has qualified to determine whether or not the Holy Spirit has entered the life of a person in prayer?

There is obviously a testing like the one we have for citizenship. Pass your test and we can be sure we have done it right...yet this link with Him offered no assistance on the idea that Jarius was the priest of a temple where Jesus based his mission. Jarius likely had links to the mission of Jesus, but learning too much about Jarius we don't have to think that Jesus knew Magdalene before the bible tells the demon story.

Why, I ask was it important that the story be told to minimize her relationship with Jesus. The same minimizing occurs with both Joseph and Joseph Arimathea, and I dropped the preposition on purpose because his name does not describe a location.

As a seminary graduate I would have thought they would have explained to you the relationships between the Davids and the Josephs in the king line. A Jew knows them but he didn't forget his history before he tells the story about it to his children.

The apostles were to be fishers of men...if this is true what does Fisher Kings mean? This is an easy one for christians if they know of Jewish baptismal practices and the lines of priest and king. We ponder who Melchizedek is and can't answer the above.

After all your study, college, and seminary, you declared this all drivel, then told me I couldn't trust information about Jewish history unless it comes from a Messianic Jew. I find it hard to believe even a messianic Jew would support this contention unless he was angry for being expelled from his prior temple community.

The meaning of the word "dog" to the Jews of the temple will then also fall into the drivel bucket since the spirit won't help you on it. I have refrained from mentioning it for a number of days, I was concerned that to offer it would confront a current church and christian attitude as unloving when the story will show that Jesus Himself didn't have this attitude. Maybe I should worry, for the words in the scripture will be reajusted to support the christian stand.

It would be much easier and less risky to ask who a reference to "sandals" talks about or what does riding a "donkey" say about the job of the rider. Or did any thing such as an "inn" exist in the social structure of Jesus's time. We take for granted that we know these simple things because we hold ourselves qualified to discuss and debate the great mysteries. After we answer these we can wonder why Joseph, father to Jesus, got hid so far in the backround when he was the head of the House of David when Jesus was born. Or how is James the brother of Jesus hidden so well that he can't be seen hen standing next to Jesus in the story.

I am reminded of college kids having deep discussions about philosophers in October of the college year over pizza and beer at the local pub. Impressive to the plumber in the next booth, but ignored by the professor on the other side.

My dear, you offer little knowledge as a teacher then transfer your fears to me and called me scared when you have been trained in psychology. I am one of the very last people on here that might be thought fearful about any aspect in life. I exhibit balance in my written responses, a measure used in your testing to evaluate the state of the quality of mental and emotional balance.

Scratching your touchstone I am finding base metal.
