I am ashamed to say that tonight is the first time I have entered the spirituality forum. The reason I came here was sparked from another post so I thought I would check this out. I do not understand why any religion is being made a mockery of. When I began to read the posts in this forum I found some of the same crap I saw in the other post. I will say again I am not perfect but I am a christian and I am bothered by these types of jokes ( such as Jesus and sexual comments etc)
Maybe this is a wake up call for me..I think it is time to take a closer look at myself. ( I know I will be picked apart here for making my stand on this)
I have honestly been thinking about some of the comments I have made and how I a lot of times do not even appear to be a christian. Anyhow, I felt I needed to post this. Thanks for reading..")

I would just like to say, that I love the two people that have resorted to this, but I'm terribly dissapointed in their behavior. I thought they had MUCH more class than this.

"discussions" regarding religion and politics always bring out the best and the worst of people., thats just the way it is. I have said repeatedly that my beliefs are my own and no amount of fighting, name calling, debate or whatever is going to change how I feel or how someone else feels.

No one likes being offended. If you consider Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Wicca, Native American Spiritually, Zoroastrianism, Druidism, and dozens of others as being religions and faiths whose followers will go to hell and will suffer eternal torment because they don't follow Jesus then you have no right to be offended. Ask the resident Christians what they believe.
Do you believe they will go to hell and suffer eternal torment?

honesly i could care less what religion one is or professes to be it's their actions that speaks volumes as does their words and IMO in these forums it is truly more awakening than most care to admit ...
So i say Kudos to you Lady Bama for having the nerve to bring up the topic.... and IMO very respectfully

I have been very offended, too, as have others who have contacted me. I didn't say anything because for ME to have done that would have just added fuel to the fire. That was their purpose, I didn't want to validate them. I thank those of you who have come forth. Because I am a Christian, I think what they are doing is blasphemy, but I am sure many won't agree with me. It takes courage to come forth in here and I thank those of you who did.

My last answer was to state the obvious. The guy is either dead or didn't exist. Well, this means he's still alive somewhere, walking around, making more blind people see and perhaps he's now competing in the Olympics in the water sports competitions? We know Michael Phelps doesn't have a chance. Michael is a great swimmer but he can't walk on water if his life depended on it. Is Jesus living in Tibet fighting off the Chinese heathens? Is that affecting the games? Is Jesus here with us now and has a profile on MD? Well, someone send me his email address or his home address. I'll take a trip. I got frequent flyer miles I can cash in. Maybe he has AIM and we can do a chat because I'm willing to ask a few questions and I promise not to take up too much of his time.
I would like to ask him why is it he can't build a better quality clientele? It seems his got a poor following of some of the most ridiculous group of people. I could guess his answer by demographic and logistics but I'd like him to tell me himself.
I'd ask him what's up the bigotry. Why isn't he doing anything about his tarnished image? Bad PR? Does need a new spokesman or are they too busy with the elections? Why can he just spend a few bucks and hire a really good public relations firm this time. Do it right.
I'd like to ask why do many of his followers rely on a group of mental illnesses associated with delusion, hallucination and pathological lies. Why can't get get their heads together and have them go get some medical and mental heath care from qualified people because lots of them are babbling gibberish?
I'd like to ask him why the flesh and blood cannibalism. Does he really have enough of that to go around? Is he being cloned somewhere and served at McDonald's? Is that what those billions of burgers sold means?
Well, I'll have some more questions later.

I did not post to try and change anyones views, I only stated my opinion which is what this is all about. I did not or will not condemn anyone for their beliefs nor will I make fun of another religion or someones god. If you are interested in what Christ said, I am no Bible scholar so I would suggest reading His word, aka the Bible. I expected when I posted the topic that there would be more negative comments than positive. I appreciate those who were positive and respect those with opinions other than mine. I consider my relationship with Christ personal so I would have felt similar if someone made sexual comments or jokes about my dad. IMO either of those are just wrong and I wouldn't sit back and watch if you were talking about my dad like that so I certainly felt I should post my opinion about the remarks being made about my heavenly Father.
We are all entitled to our own thoughts,beliefs and views.

If you are interested in what Christ said, I am no Bible scholar so I would suggest reading His word, aka the Bible. Well, we know that could be a problem. There were many texts written about him that tell different stories that conflict. You know what they are. The other problem is none of them were written by any witnesses so its all hearsay. But what about Seal's suggesting to ask Christ himself? That sounds like a better idea so where is Jesus hiding out these days?

if this is something you really have an interest in, start another thread for discussion...and put some "rules" if you will. It doesn't get rid of it, but there are plenty here that would hold civil discussions.
It is my opinion that if someone is highly (not The) anti-Christ, it is more an illness to hang out where almost all of what they do is trash Christ, make fun of God, and call followers names.
Not that the Christians have always been polite.
I agree with Laz-religion is personal. Discussion is great...there is NO need to fight about it.

Something I meant to add, I agree that some of these posts are blasphemy. Also, I didnt attack Budhism or Hinduism or any of the above mentioned religions so why some feel the need to attack Christians and or Christ is beyond me. While I don't know much about them I respect one's belief regardless if it agrees with mine or not. I am not going to debate religion with anyone. It is pointless, if I want to know facts about something other than Christianity I will ask someone of that particular religion. I don't, however bash or make jokes about things I don't believe or understand when it comes to religion.

Christians will insist that their dogma of a man/god is the only truth. They highly offend all other faiths by insisting that these other faiths worship false gods, demons, anti-christs or Satan himself. They have no problem telling these non-christians that they are eternally damned unless they change their beliefs and become christians.
I have been called devil, Satan, the anti-christ, and much more.
What JesusC and Thewhore did was no less than what christians have been taught to treat non-christians, not only on MD, but in real life. JC and Whore at least made light of it and presented it as an obvious application of standup comedy and deserve applause for not lowering themselves to the christian way of attack.
Christians are dead serious when they say these things to non-christians. And when these insults are delivered, the echoes of "Amen" from other twisted minded christians are sure to follow.
JC and Whore showed no bigotry, and certainly presented their message in a humorous manner. What of the christians on this site?
Bev constantly attacks Buddhism! Why? Because she cannot substantiate anything contained in sick christian dogma.
How about good ole Hunt, insisting that Buddha statues have holes in the back of their heads to allow demons to enter. He also insisted that all gods, other than the christian god, were demons.
The same goes for SOC, Seal and others that adopt christian dogma that pits man against man.
Do any of these christians make light of their attacks on non-christians? Of course not! They believe in dogma that cannot be proven and push a book of fables as truth, but insist on condemning people that refuse to participate in their sick delusions. Christians do not make fun of other relegions, they condemn then. They actually believe that they are better than another human being just because they have accepted to believe in a mythical story.
So who should be highly offended? Someone that has had their beliefs joked about? or Someone that has been truly attacked by fanatics that actually believe in their sick preachings?
Who should be more offended? A christian because Jesus was the basis of a comedy routine, or a person that constantly has christians insisting that they worship demons.
I think the posters in this thread and others that have read and agree with them should take a look at themselves and how by just stating their beliefs they "highly offend" non-christians. Joking is one thing. Being serious and condemning others or calling their gods demons is another.
Wake up! Learn to treat non-christians, their beliefs and their gods with respect and you will in turn receive respect. Continue as you have for 2000 years and reap what you sow.
I'm just glad that JC and the Whore chose to use comedy to present their beliefs or lack of them.
Lighten up and learn to laugh at a good line.

It's strange how I have not condemned anyone but yet I am accused of doing so because of my religion. Think about that....Sail dancer I know there are alof of piss poor excuses for christians just as there are in any religion I'm sure. I agree that some christians are condemning and I know all about the "damned if you dont" attitude. I have not presented myself that way. I have said and I'll say again I don't attack or make jokes about religion, it's not cool IN MY BOOK....if it is cool in yours go on with it. But I am entitled to my opinions and if I am highly offended by anything, these forums are open for discussion and there is no rule that says I cannot post it.

You are quick to complain about JC and The Whore but you haven't spoken out against the views and antics of the Bevs, Hunts, SOCs, and Seals that call other religious gods demons and truly believe that all non-christians are like dirty rags and destined to eternal damnation.
Why have you held back your views on other religions and allowed people like Bev and the rest deliver the christian message if you don't agree with them?
Instead of being insulted about jokes being cast at the likes of Bev and company, why don't you take steps to present your view of christianity? By keeping quiet, you have allowed their version of christianity to be what christianity stands for. It is the christianity of these fanatics that has been attacked.
Instead of complaining and being offended, take steps to clean up non-christian understanding of christianity by presenting your beliefs and speaking out against the fanatics that cause most of the problems.
Wake up! Only you and others that agree with your concept of christianity can change the world's understanding of your religion. Let the fanatics run free and define christianity and it is no one's fault but your own.
