Why does it have to be either?
I believe things just happen as they happen. Nothing predestined or controlled.

I believe that we choose what we still need to work on before we get here. That some things are predestined, because we chose it to be so. I don't believe in coincidence. I believe if you pay attention, you'll see miracles. Not of the part the Red Sea sort, but everyday miracles. Yes, I believe in Fate, with a healthy dose of choice mixed in.

Fate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A fixed decree by which the order of things is prescribed; the immutable law of the universe; inevitable necessity; the force by which all existence is determined and conditioned.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Appointed lot; allotted life; arranged or predetermined event; destiny; especially, the final lot; doom; ruin; death.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The element of chance in the affairs of life; the unforeseen and unestimated conitions considered as a force shaping events; fortune; esp., opposing circumstances against which it is useless to struggle; as, fate was, or the fates were, against him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The three goddesses, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, sometimes called the Destinies, or Parcaewho were supposed to determine the course of human life. They are represented, one as holding the distaff, a second as spinning, and the third as cutting off the thread.

fate: 1: the will or principle or determining cause by which things in general are believed to come to be as they are or events to happen as they do : destiny 2 a: an inevitable and often adverse outcome, condition, or end b: disaster; especially : death 3 a: final outcome b: the expected result of normal development prospective fate of embryonic cells c: the circumstances that befall someone or something did not know the fate of her former classmates
Main Entry: karĀ·ma
Etymology: Sanskrit karma fate, work
1often capitalized : the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence
so, karma is a type of fate..... I do believe many of our actions determine outcomes in our life

In its strictest sense "Karma" is defined as "action."
"Fate" is.... the consequence of your action.

I got both from Merriam Webster. IMHO, karma is more about force created.
Well, whatever, they are close enough that I just think both words are misused (not saying you or anyone particular)

Is it real or is there something else at work in the world? "Fate" as in predetermined destiny? Nope, I don't believe in it.
I believe "sh*t happens" and we make our own destiny based on how we handle it.
That's the "something else at work in the world" -- The individual and how he uses the "tools" he's been given: his mind and "free will".

"Predetermind" as a "Master Plan" or something like that? I have never EVER said that!
(Please show me...and please let us know in what context you are using the word "fate". Thank you.)

If I considered fate as a predetermined destiny for myself I wouldnt need to have patience. Patience in this case being an active expectation based on faith. Patience to me is the opposite of anxiety so by not accepting fate as being real I dont have to simply accept the wrongs in life that come upon me as fate. God began having faith in me so my faith in him leads me to being a better person. That requires something fate doesnt...individual change,to become better in this life. If we blamed what went wrong on fate, would we appreciate what weve done that went right or blame that on fate as well? The answer to that question is your choice. Fate negates choice.

Yes you did and there is no context you either believe or you do not. Your previous words said you did that fate would and now you say you never said that when in fact you did. However you may have meant it that is what you said sunb.
