That was the impression I always got in my years as a Catholic. That Jesus died to save us all, it was up to each person to accept salvation, and once you did, hallelujah.

Now I do not believe we are sinners, we just learn from our experiences and "mistakes", hopefully. I don't believe Jesus died for our sins, but I do feel he is a friend to me, and I will see him one day, as I hope to see other Masters, and those I have loved and temporarily lost. I don't feel saved from anything, I don't feel evil or bad, I will return to something I can't remember now but once knew.

So I don't see that there are the "saved" and the "unsaved". I really don't know what this Holy Spirit is you have mentioned, but I humbly accept that you believe you feel it. In my world view, spirit is in everything, all life down to the soil and air.

Actually, this is not Catholic teaching at all, Canadian. Jesus did die to save us all, but it is up to each person, whether they are Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddhist, or atheist to walk through the door Jesus opened not by faith, but by grace. Or as your old Baltimore Cathecism said, "you know a Catholic by his actions." You don't shout I'm saved and walk across some magic line. You must commit your life to prayful acts.

Catholics and many Protestants believe that you can in fact lose your faith. Evangelicals like to pretend that someone who errs or walks away from church didn't have faith in the first place, but they also contend that you cannot judge someone's heart. Well, if their actions (works) are meaningless and you can't second guess their heart, I guess you can always cover your @ss.

True, I'm sure that was taught me in all my years of Catholic school and Mass at St. Catherine of Siena. It has been many years since I stopped attending, and all I'm left with now are impressions: the graphically bloodied cross at the alter, the Stations of the Cross, the "Bless me Father, for I have sinned". I was very dutiful, but my particular environment presented a warped view of religion, and I walked away. I heard often of grace, but never felt it, though I strive always to be kind.

Well, I guess I am blessed not to have been brought up as a Catholic. Even though I began to search for power that I had not found in my church. I never quit on Jesus or God because I had always felt their love. I was just going to add power to that. The power was there all the time. I had just never known about it.

I do believe that once you have the Lord, He is not going to let you go. I DO know that when He comes after you that it can be beautiful or painful, depending on how well you listen and respond. He does not let Satan steal you away from Him. Call it satan, call it the world, but He will come after His own. He is the good sheperd, now what sheperd lets one of his lambs go to another flock, another pasture, and not come after them?

Now, east, what you don't understand, is once you know His love, you don't WANT to stray for you know that He is real, that He loves you and He has proven that to you over and over. This is why Becky and Canadian, though they seek other paths have held on to the Lord.

Knots, I didn't know you studied to be a priest. Lol, He will come after you, too.

Is this why you say you would cheat for your niece again and have no remorse about doing it in the first place?

Peace

Salvation based on a fairytale is a joke. A religion based on fairytales is a joke. There is no education involved so the mind does not grow. No mind, no anything. No reality. All fantasy. Such a life is inauthentic. Hallucinations can only deepen the lost souls of those already lost.

Once you have passed all the delusions it is a huge fog that dissipates from around you. You get to see clearly. The heavy burdon of religion on the soul puts everything into perspective.

There is no one and no thing to come after anyone. All in the minds making.

Saved from what? What do I need to be saved from? I've had 3 parachute malfunctions in my skydiving career and each time, my reserve parachute saved me.

These days it's really hard to keep decent savings account in the bank, so there's no always saved option there. Too bad there's no eternal security doctrine for money.

Yeah, sail, I sinned, I am not perfect. If I could be, Jesus wouldn't have had to die for me. I honored a wish of my dying mother and did some college work for my niece, lol.

Now, ignore me sail, please, like you are supposed to be doing. I want to have a decent discussion.

Thor, I have a question for you. When your main chute didn't open, did you PRAY for the resereve chute to open or call out to God?

If had taken the time to do that Bev, I would've hammered in for sure!

No, Bev, I just remembered my training. Cut away main, pull reserve ripcord.

Thor, you could have been praying while you were doing that.

But, I am not suggesting that God honored a prayer, but you know, the more I see of your close encounters and your escapes, the more I think that either your parents are praying that you come back to the Lord before you die, or that God has a purpose for you.

Now, I know you will never agree with that one, lol.

Thor....

Now the real test is did you have a graceful landing? There's no other way to fall but down with or without a parachute(s), but if done with law of grace you bounced back whole.

A parachutist jumps out of an airplane.

He counts down.... one thousand.... two thousand..... three thousand... four thousand.... PULL...!

Nothing happens!

He prays:

"Oh lord please open my chute!"

Nothing happens.

"Oh, Alla, please open my chute!"

Nothing happens.

Plummeting to earth he prays:

"Oh Lord Buddha please open my chute!"

Plump!

Chute opens and he sails down.

"Thank God for that!"

Thump! Chute closes and he plummets!

I never used my reserve but my best friend that I know my whole life became a rigger. He did my gear because I didn't trust anyone else more. I also had a backup Cypress in my rig and I bought my rigger friend too. We were saving each other's asses.

One time I jumped from a helicoptor and opened 1500 ft. I was at the boogie in Quincy Illinois and landed on someone's farm in a pig sty. I was full of mug and laughing my ass off. The pigs were going nuts.

did you PRAY for the resereve chute to open or call out to God?
If you have to pray, you're already dead.

The only real salvation is your wits.

PS. I always pack my own main.

My father was in the Parachute Regiment.

He told me one or two horror stories he had.

They jump out in sticks either side of the plane as fast as they can so they dont spread too far apart on the ground.

One time he jumped, he went straight threw the rigging of the opposite chutist on the other side of the plane, with both chutes streaming to open. He went straight throu and both chutes opened fine. But

A decent discussion? You posted:

You say that "once you know His love, you don't WANT to stray", so how can you also say that you would cheat again in similar circumstances?

This is not "off topic", it is "right on topic"!

You contradict yourself and make statements that you have proved to be nonsense with your own words.

I am just showing people that when you said "once you know His love, you don't WANT to stray", it obviously doesn't apply to you.

Peace
