As for channeling, Christians pretend to do that with the their object fantasy of a holy spirit. Inspired scriptures can be though of as automatic writing. Its fiction writing at its best. The more fiction you believe, the closer you are there.

No, hammer, the Holy Spirit is ONE universal Spirit, the Spirit of God.
Channeling involves many different spirits, spirits of the dead. Books like Seth Speaks promote this stuff. It is very dangerous, it lets another entity spirit enter your body and speak through you.
The Holy Spirit is only good, always lines up with God's word. People who have the Holy Spirit recognize it in others who have Him because they have the same instructor, same teacher, not just their own ideas, or the "dogma" of some denomination or ministers.

Bev, channeling happens.
It is neither evil or the province of Christianity.
All religions have channellers whether they are called, oracles or such like.
Again, it is only based on a persons ability to "allow" by invitation, oposite to the "possession" of "known" entities to use the physical body.

I've actually seen examples of automatic writing, and while it's an interesting phenomena, I believe these things come from areas of the subconscous mind and not anything spiritual.
My mom wrote a poem/song once that she believed was automatic and came from the spirit of some deceased woman. She believed this because she said it was not her style of writing and that she didn't consciously remember writing it, in fact, she didn't write it down on paper at all, she recorded it on tape.
What is strange is that after I listened to the tape and agreed with my mom that it wasn't her usual style, I rewound the tape and left it unthreaded on the reel to reel machine (this was back in the 70's). The tape mysteriously got erased and what ended up being recorded over it was a neighbor's CB chatter as my nieghbor had an illegally high powered CB base station at his house. What's strange is that after I rewound the tape, I left the tape unthreaded and the power turned off and since that time, I have spoken to engineers about the possibility of the CB base station radiating a strong enough signal to erase the tape.The engineers usually want to know what kind of drugs I was on and where they could acquire the same stuff. Who knows? I was at school when this happened so I don't know if mom had tried to play the tape (she was very inept at anything remotely technical, I had tried to teach her how to thread the machine and play the tape, but it was an exercise in futility, yet she could thread a sewing machine which is far more complicated than a tape recorder, so go figure) during the day and accidently recorded over it, picking up the CB chatter over the AC line or if some strange magnetic anomaly happened. If I were a betting man, I would bet the former. Mom said she hadn't touched the machine, but it's possible she could have and forgotten. She was on a cocktail of pain and anxiety medications most of her adult life.
The song was definitely not her style, yet since I knew alot about my mom's past that she was unaware that I knew about (such as the fact that she had been married before my dad and had a baby that was stillborn), the song fit her psychologically in my opinion. Sometimes people just want mystery. It's fun, but I would be more fascinated if it were somehow caused by the power radiating from the CB base station than by some ghostly apparition, but that's just me.

Mom, except for the Bible and my faith, I am simply a fountain of useless information. Lol, I am great at trivial pursuit, though. I am always reading something or another. I am a good counselor, though.
Like I told knots, I am not an expert on your beliefs but was good at what I did. It came easily for me.
Not an expert on any other faith, for sure, but know a little bit about a good many of them. That was part of seminary.

Channeling Spirits - A Spiritual Trap
What is meant by channeling spirits? Essentially, it is when a person enters an altered state of consciousness to communicate with the spirit world. These spirits who are contacted are known as familiar spirits. Trying to contact the spirit world is a very dangerous thing for any human being to practice.
Channeling spirits is a very popular part of what is called the new age movement. This is simply a term given to the mass numbers of people who are seeking spiritual exploration outside of what the bible teaches. This has always existed but it is now widely accepted in western cultures. Basically, these people reject the God of the bible who is identified as Jesus Christ and seek new avenues to heaven.
Is there more than one path to heaven? Not according to the bible. 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.Acts Chapter 4
Jesus Himself said that the only way into heaven is through Him.44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John Chapter 6. Jesus said it was He who would resurrect us and give us eternal life.
Basically, channeling spirits is people deceiving themselves into thinking they can get into heaven by alternative means. There is only one way into heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. Of course, this means that all other avenues into heaven declare the bible to be a lie while the bible declares all the alternative paths to be a form of deception.
One of the reasons that this movement has become so popular is because spirits are actually contacted. When a person contacts a spirit through the art of channeling, the spirit will give information that the contactee could not have possibly known about otherwise. The person who has contacted the spirit world believes they are communciating with an "ascended master".
These "ascended masters" tell us that the world is about to enter a "new age" of enlightenment.Interestingly enough, the bible tells us that Jesus Christ is soon to return which will fulfill what these "ascended masters" or "familiar spirits" are saying is going to happen. From the new age point of view, Jesus Christ is just another "ascended master" lumped in the with the same group of people such as Buddha and Muhammed. They deny the deity of Christ.
What does God say about the practice of channeling spirits? Remember, in scripture, these spirits are referred to as familiar spirits.'Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.Lev 19:31
God warns us to not to have anything to do with channeling spirits or mediums. Why? Because the "spirit guides" which are contacted are demonic spirits. This should come as no great surprise since God tells us that Satan and his cohorts can transform themselves into angels of light. 2 Cor. 11:14 How many of these "familiar spirits" are there? That is not known but it is probably in the millions. This is based on the fact that a third of the angels rebelled against God and lost their estate in heaven.
The question is why are so many people seeking spiritual enlightenment outside of the church? One of the reasons is that sitting in a pew on a Sunday morning listening to a boring preacher is just not very interesting or exciting. Many pastors are taught to write their sermon down then read it off on Sunday morning. I don't know about you, but I hate to be read to. I'd rather read the documents for myself. Another reason is that the church has divided up into so many denominations, an outsider correctly assumes that the church itself doesn't even know what to believe. Each denomination will swear the others are wrong.
What these seekers of spiritual enlightenment fail to understand is that having a relationship with their creator and redeemer is not boring at all. There is a vast difference between "churchianity" and "Christianity". They fail to realize that Jesus Christ is God and all of creation (including "spirit guides") ultimately have to answer to Him. These "spirit guides" or "familiar spirtis" are demonic spirits who have rebelled against God and seek to destroy Him and His people. God's people are going to inherit the estate these fallen angels lost. Naturally, they hate us for it.
These "spirit guides" are telling mankind about many wonders about to unfold on the earth (which is true, except they don't talk about the great judgments about to fall). Bible Prophecy tells us about the great events about to happen on this planet but it is very difficult to find a church which teaches prophecy. Many churches will say that if you have caught the prophecy bug, then Satan has gotten a hold of you. The fact is that Satan has gotten a foothold on the church. No wonder people seek enlightenment elsewhere.
If you must channel a spirit, then try channeling a Spirit that will pose no threat to you at all and will utlitmately give you rewards that you cannot possibly imagine. All you have to do is tell God that you are a sinner, ask Je
