There are many ideas about this. My minister spoke of God revealing to her what heaven is like. It is so much like other accounts I have of heard of people seeing heaven.
She said she was on this side of this crystal clear water, the Jordan that we all will cross. On the other side of this river was the Lord. She said, the colors were beyond anything you can imagine. The flowers defied description. She said there were these trees, low trees covered with fruit and people would come up and pick that fruit and eat it.
She wanted to cross over, but He would not let her. He said that she was ready but most of her congregation still needed her and they were not ready.
Now, I have heard others talk about the Mansions, knot. One minister said the Lord showed him this beautiful mansion type home that had been prepared for him. In it was all the kind of furniture that he loved, beautiful fountains and there were even servants.
Any thoughts, anyone?

If there is anything at all to the consciousness and individuality of a person surviving after the discorporation of the physical body, it's nothing at all, in my opinion like what religion, any religion I know of describes.
The only thing that gives the concept of life after death any validity in my opinion, is Newton's laws of conservation of matter and energy. If the spirit/soul is something that exists individually then science says that it can niether be created nor can it be destroyed.
That said, what happens? Energy from one kind can be converted to energy of another, for example light and sound can be converted into electricity and cause magnetic particles embedded on tape to be recorded as images and sounds from the past.
Yet does this necessarily mean that the afterlife has to be some place of either bliss or torment based on religious rules dreamed up by past civilizations? When I had my "NDE", I got the impression (that is, if i actually did see the other side and it wasn't an electro chemical hallucination) that it definitely is NOT. I got the impression that it will be different, but not without it's challenges and i was left with the impression that this life is a sort of school, or university and the next life will be a graduation of sorts. I got the impression that such things as pain and sickness may not be there, but it definitely didn't necessarily leave me the impression that it will be a walk in the park either. It will be,if my experience has any merit a change, or a trade off and there will definitely be challenges ahead. In short, it won't be a celestail Disneyland.

My minister spoke of God revealing to her what heaven is like. No wonder you associate with this sort of person. Christianity is an umbrella for liars, hypocrites, storytellers, home skewled idiots, schizophrenics, delusionals, serial killers and very bored people.
Tell her next time to take pictures and post them on MD.

Thats the thing Bev... Christians as a whole are all hung-up on this "Mansion" stuff. Going to heaven or hell and all that stuff.
To the Buddhist adept it is all just like any other place with same old, same old problems of delusions and illusions. Each "Mansion" is still filled with the same old concepts and duality of nature making it all very real in its illusion as is this life realm.

Aw, thor, thanks. You know what you saw is not wrong. I have read that those who did not learn of the Lord here on earth will spend time in study, learning. Lol, now, I know you won't like that either.

I've read that we each create our own heavens and hells. Since I don't believe we'll have physical bodies, time will no longer be anything like the way we perceive it now, personally I don't think time exists without a corporal body. That being true, if there's any conscious residue after death (i.e. some part of our soul/mind/essence that still recalls its original identify and experiences) whatever existed at death will exist for eternity. If there isn't any recollection, the whole question's moot.
Whatever it is or isn't, I'm down with it.

If not, hopefully they will install a mute button and pass out a few remotes.
Also, it may be hard to find places to buy sex toys and cigarettes.

That being true, if there's any conscious residue after death (i.e. some part of our soul/mind/essence that still recalls its original identify and experiences) whatever existed at death will exist for eternity. Well a corporeal body will take up space and space cannot exist without time and time cannot exist without space, so you're probably closer on track than anyone else here.
I've always been more attracted to the philosphies that dealt more on this end than the eternal reward/punishment scenario. Perhaps when we leave the physical realm, we will no longer be slaves to linear time and can go where/when we wish. Yet the caveat here may be how much we learned while in this realm."Hell' may be created by folks who have not learned enough and given up or are too stubborn to learne and evolve, so whatever they experience, it's frustrating and unpleasant. This doesn't necessarily mean it's the end. The Spiritualists believe that the door to reformation is never closed, in the here or hereafter.

In Buddhism there is time in all the realms. They each range from different lengths of time in respect to how we measure time now.
Only when you have realised the nature of these realms time itself ceases.

It is like any place that has no mortal form or mortal memories which cause you to believe your mortal self is your true nature.
In order to have time in any realm in the cosmos requires there be a beginning and a ending to calculate time from.

Sail, I go to a nondenominational church. We have no dogma. Simply the ministry of the Holy Spirit which is strictly Bible.
Of course the Lord speaks to her, He speaks to all Christians who listen. He is that still small voice. He said, "My sheep know my voice." He is the shepherd, we are His flock, you know.
Sheeps follow, goats butt, but.
