Most of all you regulars in R&S over time have read me post about the volunteering Ive done to help my church and Ive read what others have done. For example,Bandmom has taught Sunday school and SOC spends his time working with children. I know people dont have to be religious to be helpfull to society but since this a religious forum I'm curious as to what some of you others do in and outside your communities, not for yourself but for God.

I worked with the toddlers in the last church I went to. I think it was a test from God!!! After the first day I think I smoked a pack of cigarettes! I was in a daze for hours.

there are a couple of "total care" residents at the nursing home that I feed in the evenings... it frees the NA's up to spent more time feeding the other total cares.. I taught Bible School for a couple of years to the 3 year olds.

As a volunteer in junior high school and then on to paying position, I worked at a children's rehabilitation center called Crotched Mountain. My specialties adheared to the deaf, polio, cerabal palsy and a few children with hydrocephalus. This was outside of my community. I decided to leave when the facility expanded into joint adult rehabilitation. I continued after a few years break, in the medical field and work within my community on the corporate level.
I feel my chosen life's deeds strengthened my spritual path, and expanded my soul's desires in God's creation of humanity.

Thanks for your contributions ladies, with so much blame on here given to certain religions for past world problems people need to be appreciative of the good that is done today by those that respect God and help others in his name.

I took care of my grandparents for years to keep them out of the nursing homes. I took care of my mom for about eight years untils she died.
I taught vacation Bible school a couple of different times. I was a Brownie leader, and a room mother chairman for all of my children's school classes, lol, what a headache. I coached teenaged girl's fast pitch softball, another headache, two years of that one, but the headaches were worth it, you know.
I took in teens who had been thrown out of their homes. I took in whole homeless families.
I counseled for free, never charged a penny for that and am going to start doing that again, as I can. There is nothing that makes us feel any better than giving of ourselves.
That is wonderful, everyone. Good for you girls.

Notice the religion who are patting themselves on the backs here. Others dont need too. There is a reason for that when the religion's negative affects on mankind has exceed its good deeds. Even evil dictatorships did some things that were good for people. These dictatorships also advertized their good deeds to try to conceal their evil deeds.
Peace

Jankia,
Blame yourself!!!!! YOU started a nice thread then ruined it with your crap once again.
You could post what you do for God like was asked or you could pat youself on the back for doing nothing but in doing nothing your right, you havent the need to. I think yash and sail explained my positions very clearly. Nice one guys
It doesnt take a "God" to express loving kindness or compassion for others. It doesnt need patting on the back and thinking "what a good boy I am with my religion and praise for God, and so all other religions can see how good we are."
Thats cheap!!!!
Thanks for letting us know of your need to be noticed in a thread about working with God. Hey, dont blame me for your idiocy. I'm just "speaking Up" like you asked.

I think yash and sail explained my positions very clearly.Nice one guys Sure yash did by saying the same thing I said in the OP you didnt bother to read before your mindless trolling began...again,but the other does fit in well with your line of thought based on "ignorance"suggesting that kattsmeow,Loreli,daisy315 and Bevrice as being like dictatorships that advertized their good deeds to try to conceal their evil deeds. Anyway...thanks again ladies for telling us a little bit about the efforts youve put into following God for society. Its nice to know some of you actually do more in life for society than what some on here do which is to find fault in the good done by others. Its easy to say that you dont need a pat on the back when youve done nothing to warrant that kind of appreciation.

Well, Yash, Knots, what most of us did was for PEOPLE, not for God. What have you done for other PEOPLE, guys?
I don't think God called me to coach softball or be a brownie leader or be a room mother chairman. None of which I would care to repeat, especially the softball coach. Everyone's daughter was supposed to be the pitcher or the first baseman.
YOU are the one who tried to turn a nice thread into something unpleasant, knots.
Haven't you or yash just done anything for PEOPLE, for others? Most of what everyone here did was for other PEOPLE, because they cared and they were giving of themselves. "Do it unto the least of these and ye do it unto me."

Maybe because you never did anything good for anyone else, huh?
Oh, I forgot, Buddha taught "You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection"
No wonder you can't say anything you have done for others.

In what you term Eastern Mysticism across all schools of thought and even in the Martial Arts one of the first things one learns is: Letting go of Ego!
Is a good deed a good deed if you need to tell others about what you did or is it just fishing for compliments for your Ego. Boy do you need lessons in Ego management Bevarino.

Maybe because you never did anything good for anyone else, huh? Statements like this one are the reason many of us would rather not discuss our acts of philanthropy with others.
Your own bible tells you that you are not to boast about the good works you do. Obviously you only follow the parts of the bible you want to and discard the rest.
Peace
