In disagreement with knots, I don't think it is a spiritual thing, it is more a thing of increasing your awareness of feeling. It is still a very physical thing, it is about controlling your breathing, holding back and delaying your orgasm, if you attain that at all, that is not the main objective in tantra. The main objective is the feeling.
Now, knots, tell us why you think it is spiritual. I think, originally, tantra was developed by the hindus, not the buddhists.

Tantric is a wholistic practice if I'm not mistaken, Bev, that is the spiritual AND physical are interconnected and inseparable.
It doesn't surprise me that this is one aspect that you don't get. Your belief system teaches that the spiritual and physical are at war with each other, which never made sense to me. After all, your head is fully attached to your body isn't it? Well, mine is anyway, I can't speak for you.

Lol, Joe, you start praying for yourself if you want to see results and come to know the Lord.
All you guys are all talk and no show. You want to talk about sex, keep bringing it up over and over until I start you a real thread, then you run. Such knowledgeable people.
Remember, I was a counselor, knots, marriage counseling has a lot to do with sex.
Tantric sex, is just sex, not spiritual, the same as most sex is unless it is between a man and his wife.

Tantric sex is spiritual Bev. It might be easy to become attached to the physical though. When we "go within" through meditation for example we get closer to Christ consciousness or what name we prefer to use.

A massage can be quite spirital, Bev. You've never heard of Kundalini or Chi energy? Chakras, or for that matter sex magick, al la Aliester Crowley? Not every belief system separates spiritual from physical. Even aspects of medical science can be viewed as "spiritual", ever heard of holistic medicine?
You would probably dismiss the above as "demonic deception" as none of them offer a connection to your Holy Spirit delusion.  So I'm really wasting my efforts here.
