"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars -- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death" (Rev. 21:8).
"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor. 6:9,10).
Does this mean all of the anti Proposition 8 in California that are demonstrating against churches but still may be members of Christian churches will suffer this fate?
What do you think, there are Christian churches with Gay ministers and Bishops a rift that caused some Christian churches to split. Are they no longer Christians, or are they?

yash - While I have zero understanding of Christian doctrine I read your quotes.
Where does it say that they cannot be Christians?
I know that verses like this in the Torah indicate a spiritual death and alludes to being separated from the rest of the community.
The kingdom of God can mean that place inside of us too, which also makes sense.
The first verse clearly says -
fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death Which sounds like it is alluding to a spiritual death.
Where did you jump to the idea that they cannot be Christians?
I thought Christians can be saved at the moment that they want to be?

Where does it say that they cannot be Christians? The quotes taken from a Christian site imply that one not continue to be saved or be reborn and saved and still continue in the practices quoted.
It does not say they cannot be Christians, but then to be Christian one must be reborn and saved, therefore once saved they cannot continue to live in that lifestyle.
Very confusing as Texas is in the bible belt and the Baptist version of Christianity here literally tore itself apart over this specific issue...That is there exist two differing Baptist sects now one that embraces homosexuality and another that does not. In other churches this issue is alive as some Christian churches embrace these people while others do not.
It leaves me wondering what version of the bible they are using. It seems implicitly clear to me that there is no room in heaven for those living in that lifestyle.
For me I think that is a matter of choice which I do not embrace but who am I to deny anyone their choice unless they infringe on me or my family.

Love the sinner, hate the sin. That is what I believe. Of course, I am a sinner too.

We are all sinners in that sense yash.
Why are you concerned with this?
You are not a Christian.
What is the problem?

Hi Katt! I've missed you. (I've missed Angel too. Any idea of where she's gottten to?)
I'm of the same mind as you concerning love-the-sinner-but-hate-the-sin.
It is my understanding that Jesus knows each of us better than we know ourselves. After all we are the created. He is one with the Creator.
When any of us creates something, isn't our knowledge of that thing's design + personal make-up fairly intimate? We have intimate knowledge of all that thing is made up of.
God KNOWS absolutely that each of us will continue to sin. All through our life.
That is one of the reasons why the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ was so incredible.
Simply by believing in Him and confessing our need for a saviour, we are promised an eternal future with Him in heaven. We are forgiven of all of our sins; past, present + future.
I'm unable to understand how we could ever lose something that He has given us?? (I'm talking about Eternal Life here.)
He, the Great One, has given us Eternal Life. We have become His possessions.
Once saved, always saved.

SOC, where these Atheists got the idea that Religions do some type of morality test before they let you in the door is beyond me.
The best I can figure is that this is where their hatred comes from - they have this warped idea of religion and feel unworthy as a result.
We all know that everything in Religion helps us to be better people and that God is loving, forgiving and compassionate.
How some are so confused is beyond me.

katt - I have limited exposure to Christianity. Mostly Catholic in Italy and some here and some Baptist Services here.
I did not experience the rigidness that some express here. After all when you see a preacher in a $1000 Armani Suit he too is a sinner.
In Baltimore there are Gay Catholic Congregations that somehow exist.
If it werent for sinners as you all call it there would not be Religion

We know homosexuality isnt the same thing as demonstrating against the wills of a church or a states law..Demonstrators are not listed in the scripture you quoted so there will be none of them thrown into any lakes of fire. So,what Jesus sees are demonstrators against a proposition that identifies marriage as only being the union between a man and a woman.
What it comes down to is the fact that the demonstartors had a choice to defend peoples right to marry that arent given the choice of being homosexual or not. He also knows those people themselves cannot change into being a different person then the one whose genes they were born with.
Jesus will use almost the same words hes said before...Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do I say almost because he would,in my opinion, change his words to say Father, forgive them; for they cannot be different people then the people you made them at birth.

Jankia - these verses from exodus are the basis of the repentance prayer that Jews say over and over on the Day of Atonement as we believe in a merciful God
It contains what we call the attributes of God- Hashem = his name.
Exodus 34:6-7 34:6 And HaShem passed by before him, and proclaimed: 'The HaShem, HaShem, G-d, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth; 34:7 Keeping mercy unto the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and unto the fourth generation.'

Will You Be Thrown Into The Lake Of Fire? Ain't we all been through it somehow already, in numerous ways?
I have a very happy life now. It hasn't always been like that. On occasions it has been hell on earth. I believe that for many and at various times, hell is right here on earth. After that, it can only get better.
I already escaped from hell... repeatedly.

I almost hate to be the bearer of bad news. But through Scripture I've been led to believe that you ain't seen nothing yet. Just as the joys + glories of heaven will be far beyond our imagination; so too the pain + tortuous existence, (eternal existence), of hell will also be far beyond our imaginations.
I hate to be the one to break this seemingly new information to you.

I already escaped from hell... repeatedly. None of us have seen it yet. This is deceiving and many entertain such bogus thoughts. There is more to reality than what we can see or hear and there is something coming that is beyond our imagination. Though people try and try and try we can not begin to understand what is coming.

Sick ..... Warped ..... Now THAT'S something with substance...
What kind of pompous arse gets off threatening people with Auschwitz to force them to accept their religious beliefs ???
I think the Iranian 53 virgins and the plastic keys to heaven is of a similar ilk... At least that had some practical use like defeating Iraq.
The righteous cause of the Iranian priesthood also believe that Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth.
Hell is in your mind not mine... Prove it to yourself. I saw it in Auschwitz.
