When was Jesus born

When was Jesus born there is good evidence the bible is again wrong.
Born in September not December 25, born in 4 BC not in 1 AD.

So When did Jesus die? When did Jesus die again even this is iffy sp Christians worship a man God that the don't even know when he was born or died?

There is good evidence that he was born in a cave, not a manger since caves were abundant and wood was not. Cave were used to feed animals and a manger is a feeding place for animals.

So who was it that hijacked Christmas for the Christians when they don't even know when he was born or died? Apparently the bible is very ipsedixit

Well after nearly twenty years in the bush in Scandinavia I discovered that Christmas was a Pagan mid-winter solstice festival long before it was called after Christ.

The Pagan ritual was the first to contain fir trees (julgran), a julbock in Sweden (symbolic of a Yuletide goat sacrifice) and a number of other Pagan symbols like the yuletide log (julstam) on which the goat was sacrificed.

Similar things happened apparently at Easter, which coincided with a Pagan spring ritual... hence spring bunnies, chickens, eggs and flower bonnets which were all centred on spring, fertility and the 'beginning' of summer.

Finally there are the Pagan days of the week: Moon day, Dues day, Odin's Day, Thor's Day and Freya Day (Goddess of fertility). Saturn was a Roman God and Sun Day completed the Pagan cycle. A week is a rough division of the cycle of the Moon, or Moon-th...

That got yer attention?

It does seem for early religious purposes that the birth and death of the Messiah were linked to Pagan festivals as a way of convincing and converting the population.

These festivals have since become 'real' Christian events in their own right, both to the religion and its followers.

Unfortunately the Romans didn't issue a record of births and deaths that we can look up on the web...

This was the same statement on the Discovery Channel about the fact the Romans did not keep records of birth and death for the poor and common people.

Did they say that in their recent series on the history of Christianity? I only saw the episodes on Constantine and the last one on the modern Catholic Church. According to that, the Vatican has now abandoned 'eternal damnation' from its official beliefs and statements and now subscribes to a 'tiers of purgatory' concept.

You wouldn't think that to see some of the attacks on non-believers on the web though. So what's the latest on JC being born in September?

Well the Discovery channel spokesman said he was born in 4 BC and that his birth was in September not December and they also said he was born in a cave, not a inn.

I just saw the odd part as I say. Both the discussion and the analysis were of a very high standard, and did not stray further away than the actual historical evidence would bear. I got the clear impression that the Nazarene figure actually existed.

I guess the early spread of Christianity is the best evidence of that though. The conversion of a Roman Emperor was of course a breakthrough event. The Nazarene figure became a European church and religion. It was Constantine's Holy Roman Empire that persisted in various forms in Italy, Germany and France for almost one and a half millenium. In the end as Metternich said it had become "neither Holy, Roman nor an Empire" - but the human belief in the existence of the Nazarene was well-established. So much for the historical content...

Is the Bible ipsedixit or the OP?

Nowhere does the Bible claim Jesus was born on Dec 25th. and something else unknown to some would be the fact that its the day designated to celebrate his birth, not the exact day of it. Like many well known people throughout history, the exact day of birth and death isnt known.
But both are still celebrated and remembered,in the case of Jesus his resurrection is celebrated on Easter...not his death.

There is good evidence that he was born in a cave, not a manger since caves were abundant and wood was not. Cave were used to feed animals and a manger is a feeding place for animals

Funny that the OP mentions supposed evidence Jesus was born in a cave yet doesnt mention anything about where mangers were located at that time. The same place they are today.Mangers are also a place of rest for animals along with a trough for feeding.
Some may have kept there animals in a cave but more were by far kept in the same place they are today.
That would be a stable

The dynastic lines structured their temporay marriages(priests where said to be in the world) so that conception occurred in December to be followed by a birth of the heir in September. By this schedule, the second ceremony would have been held in March after the woman safely reached the third month of pregnacy.

If the birth was early. in this case closer to March, 7BC, Jesus would likely have had two celebrations, one in March and the dynastic celebration in Sept.

The bible shows that there was an issue of legitimacy for Jesus as the true David heir. The pharisees would seek James his next brother as the heir...the Sadducees being more liberal, would favor Jesus, and consider James the next Joseph, heir apparent to the David, until Jesus had his own son.

Wooden dwellings in that location were back then and now almost non existent there was simply a lack of wood. The translation about a carpenter is wrong it simply means one who works with his hands like a day laborer. Most likely his father was a stone mason that is if he wanted regular work to be available to him.

Almost everyone back then in that location lived in caves or stone dwellings.Animals were fed and housed in caves or a basement where the lodging for people was upstairs.

No where does it say the month he was born in.

There is good evidence that he was born in a cave, not a manger since caves were abundant and wood was not.

The word manger was translated from the Greek word favtnh, which means a crib.

With this information we can calculate Elizabeth's sixth month as December, during which Mary also conceived (Luke 1:26-38). It is probable, because of the circumstances shown in Luke 1, that Mary conceived during the last two weeks of Elizabeth's sixth month. Thus, John was born in the spring of 4 BC, probably between March 18 and 31. By projecting forward another six months to Jesus' birth, the most probable time for His birth occurred between September 16 and 29. It is an interesting sidelight that Tishri 1, the Feast of Trumpets, is one of the two middle days of this time period.
