Excellent posts gentlemen.  
Again, this is something that I find very sad. More than likely, Haggard has been fighting homosexual urges all of his life. Repressing them and burrying them in religion only causes these things to fester and manifest themselves in covert and dangerous behaviors.
I know plenty of gay folks who are happy and well adjusted.It's a shame that this man has had to suffer and cause his family to suffer by living a lie based on myth. Last I saw, Haggard was struggling to make a living because his religious degrees don't count for squat in the secular world.

I disagree.....it is the same ole story..taking one slip up by a "man" and hammering away at it, all the while glossing over all the other aspects of christianity...
 questions...  ..in days of old..was homosexuality a thing to be feared?
can christianity be evolving enough to allow this behavior and ..not call it a sin??
is everything always black and white in the bible to where.... it is..or it isn't?

Just saw Mr. Haggard and his wife on Larry King the other night. He claims he is not a homosexual, and is instead a heterosexual who had enjoyed a close, intimate, very sexual marital relationship with his wife of thirty years, but who became curious and was tempted to explore those of the same sex because this impulse began to become seductive for him. He gave into these "impulses" but has now chosen to treat them as one would anything tempting and appealing, but which one might choose to take a pass on, no matter how intriguing and seductive they might be.
He is not giving into these impulses now and though they bothered him initially, they are no longer compulsive for him. He seemed very much at ease with his wife and the fact that the two of them have been very open and honest with everyone, including the media. They are being embraced by those of their faith, because of their honesty and openness. Some gay people, on the other hand, are not at all happy because they feel that Mr. Haggard has chosen to return to the closet as well as deny his true inner nature, which is in their opinion, homosexual.
Of course, everyone's got an opinion, don't they?

Haggard will only repress his homosexuality to continue making a living in the only thing he knows, religion. He'll remain a homosexual and will probably be much more careful not to get caught next time. Christians make excellent liars since much of their lifestyle is based on lies and fantasy they work so hard to convince themselves is real. Ted Haggard will always be a homosexual because he always was one.

Homosexuals have no choice in their own orientation unlike Christians whose compulsions are self imposed and imposed upon them at an early age. No one is born a Christian yet homosexuality does occur in nature.

Seal is an uneducated buffoon. One makes no choice on one's own sexual orientation but only in its repression and that includes psychological trauma that would affect how one expresses and represses it. Homosexuality is observed in the animal kingdom. Condemning homosexuality has become an obsession among Christians given there are too many incidents among Christians.
The problem for Christians is the fear that Jesus himself might have been a homosexual. A man in his 30's, unmarried and constantly hanging around men. Jesus also blessed men who are known to have homosexual sex. There was favorite disciple he especially loved who would rest his head on his chest. Also the incident of the naked boy spending a night with Jesus as described in Mark and with more details in the Secret Mark.

Why not married too? Depends on what gospels you read and even if thats true we know homosexuals can be married and have children. Ted Haggard did so and many others have only to break the hearts of loved ones because they lived a lie.

We should be able to ask those with the benefits of spiritual discernment what Jesus said about the homosexual.
He does address this. Its actually in the red-lines...part of a dialog with the syro-phoenician woman who was likely a level equal to a high bishop in the temple system. Can you imagine how she might have been treated?

Where is the sin?
Perhaps the sin is in the judgement itself...the kind words of Haggard deserved only respect and were elevated to reverence by his congregations. His unkind words deserve neither respect nor reverence, but they could not be separated from the kind. He justified the kind and unkind using the same scripture.
If we revere the words of Mr. Haggard, we also have to revere those of the homeless man on the street with the sign, "Please Help....God Bless".
