V.S. Ramachandran gives an excellent synopsis of this mental condition that could happen to anyone.

V.S. Ramachandran is Director of the Center for Brain and Cognition and Professor with the Psychology Department and Neurosciences Program at the University of California, San Diego, and Adjunct Professor of Biology at the Salk Institute.

SL you keep proving how stupid you are. You never really got a real degree in psychology did you but you were a patient. Isn't that so?

"God is the ultimate confabulation by the left hemisphere"
V.S. Ramachandran

He also says studies show those suffering from Temporal Lobe Epilepsy have hyposexuality, that is very low libido. They do not get aroused sexually as normal people do. Their galvanic skin response shows little or nothing from sexual imagery. However, if they are shown religious images the GSR shows a spike in excitement.

^^heh..omg, Iam, that's you in a nutshell!

I always wondered what you were getting out of harassing the Christian population and lurking in the religion forum. Now it's clear. You get a charge hyposexually. It's clear there is low libido present. I mean, what lady friend is going to tolerate such bigotry and hatred toward others in a man....hmm, well, unless she is the same way, I suppose, and that is quite possible these days.

Some women are a cause for hyposexuality in sober men because they are coyote ugly double baggers. It gives reason to get stinking drunk or just do a lot of praying.

Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is a scientific fact. Its a medical disorder in the brain. It exists and a major reason Christians suffer hallucinations as many here do. It also greatly explains their bizarre and abnormal social inabilities.

Is it possible this Christian has Temporal Lobe Epilepsy who says he actually met Jesus Christ.

You have to consider SL's fraudulent persona. She claimed getting and undergraduate degree in a Catholic college and then states she is not sure Catholics are Christians. No one is going to buy that. She then claims she has a graduate degree in psychology of all things yet she has not even an undergraduate level of knowledge in this subject. She has no scientific knowledge of the brain that every psychology student must be more than familiar with. Her research skills don't exceed that of a 6th grade student and her religiosity is on the level of batshit delusional. She makes posts like this:
And we, as Christians, aren't going to evolve either
We, the believers, do not base our belief on thinking or feeling. We base our belief on faith.
No thinking. No evolving..wow!!!

Is it any wonder why such a religious fanatic is so against the scientific research that shows the world those trapped in her delusional dogmatic religious beliefs suffer all sorts of psychological and medical maladies? We've seen many posts by those who suffer such conditions. Some may have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, others acute or chronic psychosis. Almost all suffer some kind of neurosis.

Are these mental illnesses their support for their dogma? Temporal Lobe Epilepsy suffers often report a bright light and then voices. Sounds like Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus. Other symptoms could be overwhelming religious emotions, others could just be a voice speaking to them. Do we know anyone in the forums like this?

A Christian who has hallucinations says
I have no desire to learn anything about TLE.

Just as some people who have cancer or dying requested they didn't want to know. A lot of people would rather hide their heads in their fundaments.

No one in particular here but we have had a few visitors who made claims of education and knowledge only to show they were delusional religious fanatics. How can anyone who claims to have studied a science and psychology deny the scientific findings that tell gives us the actual causes for such psychological events in the religious mind? Why is this so threatening to them? They personally fear the information being presented. Its a threat to their dogma, their unfounded and unsupported beliefs. It pulls out the rug from under them. How does a religious person reconcile the facts?

They attack the messenger, they attack and lash out by spewing dogma and all sorts of lashing out against posters who bring up these topics written by Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and any scientist, and in this case, V.S. Ramachandran who have given us the facts and evidence that shows religious dogma fanaticism is deranged, unsound and dangerous. Fanatic Christians flip out, become obsessive, C&Ping copious amounts of scripture like dog droppings without ever looking at the actual evidence presented before them and disputing it. They know they can't. Isn't that irrational? Its more irrational when someone claims education in such areas of science that it becomes very easy to doubt they ever had an education. Its their own fault for presenting that kind of face and not being smart enough to pull it off.

Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is a scientific fact. The Jerusalem Syndrome is a scientific fact. No amount of praying or complaining will change the facts by those who believe a smoke screen will help their religious fanatic cause to censor. They make a lot of noise like the village idiot who blows a whistle because they think it makes them important when all it really does is single them out as the village idiot.

Well, I can support some of these facts...I suffered from TLE,or so they said. I had visions from Satan and God and heard voices and experienced paranormal activities which neither science or the medici can explain. The thing is that your brain activities gets so high your brain "short cercuit"....lol....and bipolar is very common in TLE patients as well as psychosis.

After starting to take anti-epilepstic medications, all these visions stopped...my brain functions slowed down and all my creativity disapeared....I couldn't remember and had short term memory loss....In a way I felt "normal" like other people, till it started messing with my health.

My child also suffers from TLE...they could pick his TLE up with an EEG. I refused to put him on medication. His symptoms are different. He get premonitions just before something bad happens. He has magnetic fields(we both have) and have troublke with our pc's and cellphones which can cost quite a lot of money.

He is not religious like other people...he belief like me.We know there is something greater than us..I prefer to call it God.

AFter getting real sick from my medication and it triggered Lupus in my system, I stopped it. I felt in a zone of my own for a few months, but now I feel better and more stable than ever before. I dont get visions anymore, but I still get premonitions and experience wierd stuff, but not like in the past, because I have a different view about religion and reality.

I heard a great scienticif explenation about all this stuff which make a lot of sense. I'll come back on this!!

And yes....I agree that some people in church seems more of getting epileptic fits, than getting filled with the holy spirit.

Pardon my poor spelling.....I'm not english speaking

:-)

Sorry to hear about your condition, BelissaJewel. It must be terrifying to have this medical condition as I know people who have strange religious experiences yet they don't have problems with their PC's or cellphones, etc.

So you exert more of a magnetic field than someone who has normal brain activity? I would like to know more about this. Anyone have any information I could read?

This is quite fascinating, at the time, did you believe that Satan and/or God was communicating to you? How did this affect your daily life as a functioning person?

This explains a great deal. Are you famiar with Dr Michael Persinger's experiments with magnetic fields. He created a special helmet called the "God Helmet" that can give an ordinary people including some atheists feelings or visions of gods, devils, aliens, ghosts, etc by directing magnetic forces on their brains.

Yep...I agree in many ways with that guy. Sometimes I saw in total darkness a flash of light, but it is like seeing it in ur brain...like when they do an EEG. Flickering light can indeed induce an epileptic fit...these fits are different than normal epilepsy...it last for sometimes just a split second. In my case it use to put me in a total trance.

Im gonna try and experience with some magnetic beads...maybe I'm lees hyper....lol

Thor...to answer your question....I am very careful for emotional stuf, because I don't want to confuse emotional feelings with the Holy Spirit...I'm very suseptable to music, therfor I prefer to practice my religion at home where I can think logic and without emotional influences. At that stage when I got those images, It nearly drove me insane. I could not function in my work and the more medication they gave me the more depressed I got. I got totally pscycotic at one stage!I then tackled this thing by myself and had a battle with this "deamon"like entity himself. I told him he can steal my sanity, take away my child, my house, my health, even my life, but my soul belongs to God....strangely...after this I never got demonic visions or attacks again....I stopped all the medication they gave me and only took the epileptic stuff. My doctor was alarmed and said I need anti-psycotic meds and anti-depressants....I told him no...I need God....and I God does not exist, I still have a vey powerful and over active brain....I will learn myself coping skills and fight this myself.

What I also must mention...I also had a very traumatic childhood....this added to my problems...once I sorted out my fears and problems, I got totally stable and more in control than most people around me.

I can feel when people are ivolved with satanic stuf, without knowing it and sometimes I get dreams about places I've never seen before and when I see it for the first time it is exactly how I dreamt

My condition at the end of the day learned me the healing power of positive thingking....If just believing in God is strong positive enough to heal me, then I will never loose faith, because this was what carried me through.

The vision I had befor I took meds for the first time, was about America , the world and South Africa.....I still don't know what it means, but I belief God gave me a message....or who ever out there knows the future. I got this vision before I ever saw a science fiction movie....lol

I hope it answered your question.

Deborah....no need to be sorry...I see it as a gift also....my child is super intelligent, but the emotional hangups this condition gives you, makes it difficult to socialise and most people like us are very isolated and relations hardly ever work.

I don't know...I guess they can test it, but I know I can sometimes feel a force field between me and my child.....so strong it once made the street bubls exploding in the street as far as we drove til I stopped...I guess we got such a shock it broke that power field...the same happened in my livving room...it usually happenes when we are both upset.

Poeple like the great Master...most od the artists and even Newton suffered from TLE....maybe that how he figured out gravity....lol

It may also be that lupis trigger TLE....it attacks my nerve system. I live on cortizone and that make me more hyper now and my brain feels like burning out sometimes.

I can also still sense a presence in the house I'm livving in currently and feel hot spot on the floor...it moves though....I don't know what it is, but its a good feeling...like getting charge with enrgy...not negative at all.

When I experience a negative power, I can't fucntion...sometimes I can't even enter a room filled with negative power, but I found prayer works....donno what about it work, but I usually tel that negative power ...no I demand! that negative power to leave the room and then I pray....it works...and even for non-believers which think it is only my own perception which change, it still works....lol

I would like also to know more about all this, that why my scientific friend's explanation made quite a lot of sense. I will post it here soon...it is a little bit long.
