I'd be a Catholic. They're bringing back Indulgences. I remember these when I was younger.
It kind of works like this.
Catholics believe in "purgatory" a place where you spend a little time to pay for your sins before you go to heaven.
The indulgences were brought into play shortly after the Crusades. Sin a little, and pay the church to knock off some time in purgatory. Sin alot, and pay a little more to get the angels to come and swoop you out of that quasi-hell and past the golden gates.
Just prior to getting rid of Indulgences, the church just had you say a few Hail Mary's and Our Fathers and it was all good.
Now it seems they're bringing them back, but not just the prayers, but acts of charity are to accompany the saying of the Rosary.
Interesting. I can do whatever I want, say a few prayers and throw my change at a homeless guy and I'll get to heaven.
Easy Cheesy....
Catholic Indulgences.

Catholic Lite...(Anglican, Episcopalian)
I grew up in it, was an acolyte, and wasn't even molested.
Priests being allowed to marry is a VERY good thing!!
My dad was a lay minister...
Real world live & let live Christians...
If I were ever to believe again, that's where I'd head right back to...

If I were a Methodist, I'd pat myself on the back at every opportunity.
But that's not what this thread is about, is it?

I'd be an evangelical. It's an easy gig. You get to tell everyone else how to live, you get to believe theocracy actually works, and if you don't know what you're talking about, you simply make shit up.

Catholic Lite...(Anglican, Episcopalian) I might go to a church that Robert Capon preaches in. He's an Episcopalian who claims christianity has interpreted most of what Jesus said all wrong and he looks at the parables with fresh eyes. I don't like the liturgy of the Episcopal church, but they certainly aren't as harsh in their doctrines as Catholics are. The fact is, I couldn't return to any church and be true to myself. Either I would leave or the church would ask me to leave because I won't be a phoney and pretend I believe their doctrines and dogma.
