How should a Christian respond when they meet opposition?
Is there much of a surprise when an un-Saved person reacts with hostility to the news that they are perishing?
Matthew 5:10--Jesus says, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." 2Corinthians 12:7--Paul writes later, "To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8--Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10--That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Depends on the type of opposition. If it's physical, defend yourself and/or run like anyone else. If it's intellectual, you can either attempt to debate it or you can ignore it and walk away. If it's taunting and insulting , why not just walk away? Those are the options anyway.

A Christian should be shamed because of what they do based on their delusional beliefs. Most of what Christians believe in is not based on any real substance. Its fiction. That is, the talking animals, talking shrubs, physical impossibles, the numerous hallucinations and much much more. Much of Christian belief is superstition. Much of the superstitions are based on psychotic events. Hallucinations are an abnormal mental aberration. Delusions, compulsions, neurotic behavior are psychological dysfunctions.
SOC you suffer of all these maladies and seek no help. You avoid and therefore lack education in arts, science, humanities, and philosophy because you have no desire to learn anything. You seek the opposite. You're anti-education and anti-philosophy. What excuse is there for willful ignorance?
I no longer need to employ either knowledge or logic in my life. What college level reading have you done in the last 6 months? You are hostile to knowledge, logic and reasoning. What you seek is pure blind faith of a stunted mind.
Lacking insight and having apathy saves you from feeling shame.

Seeachump showed up instead of MrPoop. Either way, they show themselves to be incapable of anything but gibberish and stupidities. These morons prove over and over that Christianity is a welcome mat for mental midgets. Who else could believe a man could live inside a fish or God appear as a talking plant? Are they that stupid? Yes. Seeachump could never post more than three sentences in a row because his language skills are no better than a talking ass.

Thor said it all and very well.
Unless it's a physical attack, walking away (or turning off the computer) is always an option.

And that matters SOC because... it shows how you think, operate, judge, make decisions about who is HOLY and who is NOT. Judge not lest you be judged, o Pious, Saved and Holy One...
Someone comes along calling himself fundamentalist, quoting scripture and telling nice stories about the theological meaning of the testaments and you hook in immediately. Then you side with him. Then you ignore his vile, offensive language against BB, SuzieQ, Deb - and ignore his transference to Merch - and then start rattling on again about how "saved" you are and "persecuted" and how can you "save" those people... The same people Ana was abusing, while you hoped he would just abuse them and not who YOU think are Christians.
You should be shamed because you are a phoney, because you remained silent through all the abuse against "c**ts, whores of Babalon, Witches, athei-monkeys" etc etc etc. not because anyone is "persecuting" you. To make a sad claim like that now is kinda creepy yanno?
It was OK as long as he was abusing others. Now he turned on you, you are being "persecuted" by US !!!
OH GIVE US A BLOODY BREAK with your mouthpiece of God rubbish...!

See if he notices THIS relocation:
What interests me about Ana's shifting course is that the self-styled "we're not a team like all the atheists, false Christians, moderate Christians, universal Christians, ex-Christians, Catholics and other people who are on a team..." all rushed to Ana's defence when he was on a religious rant. Then as soon as the rant switches to a non-religious rant he is then DOOMED... Not when he was calling SuzieQ a c**t... not when he was calling BB a witch... not when he was calling Deb a whore of Babylon... not even when he went on a drunken rampage Friday flooding R+S like he was Noah... Have you any idea how flamin' NAUSEATING that pious policy is? All you self-righteous " we're so saved and the teamsters-who-do-not-believe-properly are going to hell..." ? Well here's news for you smuggies... there's no team in here except your so-called "body" of elitist believers who are 'once saved always saved'... and you can't even decide properly who should be in THAT... Everyone else you imagine to have formed a conspiracy against you is just reacting to your BS... So where does that leave you? Same place you started off... wallowing in your own BS... If you're WRONG now, and you are now denouncing Ana for his bad behaviour when you said nothing before your huge MISTAKE - you were never RIGHT about anything... So why the f... should anyone take your word for anything? Why are you people who sang the same song as Ana and about Ana now singing the right song? Because you saw it on a Televangelist show? Because you bought the leather-bound guilded copy of the book? It's GAME OVER phonies...

Sorry, but it is pretty funny how some applauded and cheered him on when he was on their "team". Isn't that a demonstration of hypocrisy? And Ana did call them hypocrites even if its not for that reason...
You're forgetting Band, it's all iam's fault. The devil made him do it. Maybe I am the devil . Wasn't I told I was PURE EVIL once? What can be more PURE EVIL than the devil himself? You see, the Christoinsane must always blame someone or something else to avoid personal responsibility. That is why their view of the world is so infantile. There's a devil who brings evil and a god who brings good, nothing comes from within them personally. They are empty on the inside.

Actually CPUfan, I agree with what you say here.
But merely because my admonishing words to Ana were not made in public for all to see, don't be misinformed. Personal, private words expressing my distaste were sent to + acknowledged by Ana.
I believe this is primarily what led to our falling-out. (Which you surely saw.)
My attitude to him was very welcoming at first. (Although I did not ever praise his unGodly behaviour.)
In Ana, at first I thought I saw a younger person with a heart for God. He certainly let his passions be seen.
But as time continued, I saw this same passionate person begin to exhibit some totally unScriptural things. I called him on some of those things in-private.

You mean this team? As you know, I am your brother. And I usually support you in your posts. But here I believe the position you have taken is the result of a wee bit of unfamiliarity with the Scriptures.
I hope that the position I have taken doesn't have any impact on our friendship. You just weren't in possession of every detail given to us in the Bible. Now - see - if - you - can - guess - who - said - THAT ??

This might alienate me with my shunned heathen brothers & sisters...you know...those of us who spend every waking moment conspiring and plotting the downfall of christianity.....
But I have to come to SOC's defense. Back when anas first swooped in here, there were those "god squaders" who hailed, praised and relished the arrival of their own little "antiiam". And then there was SOC, the ONLY one I saw publicly admonish anas for something he said, or the way he said it (I forget exactly what it was), calling it unchristian. Admittedly, the silence was deafening after that, but that one time for SOC put him one up on the rest of the believers. (yeah, I know, grouping again...chicken/egg thing!!)
SOC says he privately emailed anas and I believe that. Without spilling what I believe should be the private sanctity of emails between folks, I can say SOC and I have shared a couple of emails in the past...very polite, very civil, and to the point.
I'll say this about SOC. While I couldn't disagree more with what he believes in, he's the only fanatical believer I see on here that appears to be at least trying to walk what I was always taught to be the christian walk. You might not agree with him, but at least he IS consistent. And that's gotta count for something....
