Say that sometime in the future, science determines that based on circumstantial evidence (supported by scientific theory), some sort of creator, force or entity had to have created everything.

How would the scientists involved in this discovery label this thing?

Think of the problems this would cause.

Each religion would claim that the concept they worship has been proven.

How would the press Headline the announcement?

Would the word "god" be used? or Would another word be created to label this thing?

Let's discuss!

Peace

I'm sure a more Scientific label would be used...and I'm actually not sure that some certain denominations would recognize the creative force for what it is. Probably quite a few religions would. And...why couldn't they all be right?

Honestly, I don't think anything would change. We saw what the concept of evolution did. Some Christians recognized it for what it is, the majority didn't. I can't really speak for other religions as I'm just not as knowledgeable.

Well..............if it were circumstantial evidence backed up by a theory, I'd say many people still wouldn't accept it.

I've posted before that it may be possible that some kid in a science class created a universe. The reality is, we are on the verge of doing just that ourselves. CERN is still not yet up and running but the Large Hadron Collider is the largest ever built. It will be a piece of cake to create mini black holes.

Create your own universe

By then we would probably have already created universes ourselves. We would just consider our creator to be a scientist from another universe and would add them to the newly discovered species list.

The problem is that if our universe was created in the same way we also create universes, we would not have any ability to contact it just as when we create universe, we have no contact with any life that may evolve within it. The reason is new universes would expand within its own space and time and split off from this one. The New Scientist article discusses that.

Think of the problems this would cause.

Each religion would claim that the concept they worship has been proven.
Actually it would prove all the religions were wrong all along. Not just wrong but extremely wrong. If humans create a universe or even show how its possible, it would put religion out of business or at least get that ball rolling. It might even be within our lifetimes. Realistic spirituality would be intertwined with humanity. Religion and all its superstitions would be rightfully cataloged with tarot cards, palmistry and fortune telling.

How would the press Headline the announcement?
Creator of our universe discovered!!!! She's just a kid.

Would the word "god" be used? or Would another word be created to label this thing?
Could be any title. Could be scientist, student, garage physicist.

I think everyone here should read Blasphemy by Douglas Preston. It's an awesome book and it goes along with what we are talking about.

I don't think it would matter at all to the religius fundamentalist. They're convinced of their version of reality and don't recognize science. Some even espouse a conspiracy theory that science is part of a conspiracy to over throw the authority of the Bible.

Much of the bible has already been overthrown. If someone still believes a woman was actually made from a man's rib they'll just be considered dumb.

Based upon what the OP is saying, science is not going to have time to come to this conclusion, in my own opinion. By the time science figures out what's going on, the whole world will already be aware of the truth and suffering immensely because of their sad lack of foresight, along with the scientists.

Science has already figured out much of how religious fanatics hallucinate god, Jesus and alien abductions.

^You poor, poor thing.

Now..

There will be no headline. There will not be time for a headline. You will see the headline coming in the clouds. I can only imagine the cold hard knot of fear within your stomach when you do.

You can read any headline in the clouds with the right kind of mental disorder.

I saw a cloud today that looked like the devil...

Or maybe those horns were ears and it was really the easter bunny...

That's no mental disorder. That means its going to thunder and lightning.

But what's it mean when you see this in the clouds?

Getting back to the OP. Its very scientifically plausible. Any questions about anything that is a cause or factor in this universe is a scientific question. Religion, as always, will supply dreams and fantasies as explanations and science will supply the facts.

Did anyone get a chance to read the links I posted?

Kinda sorta. This is what I've observed from this type of thinking/feeling. Look back at earlier posts where SL said something about how unjust it would be if heathens and undesirables didn't suffer hell and torment. It would make all that effort of being good seem not worth it. People with that outlook, that I've come into contact with have a major problem keeping their life straight. They generally suffer some kind of mental/emotional disorder ( we all do in reality, it's just that people deal with it differently) compounded with things like substance or sexual abuse. Religion keeps them "on the straight and narrow" (life functional). It's a struggle for them to keep straight and unbelieving heathens who are a bit more functional ( not meaning to suggest that all unbelievers are life functional, I'm only using the functional ones as example, had to make that disclaimer) really piss them off with our logic and reason, especially the more educated and articulate ones who like to think of themselves as intellectual religionists ( the mental midget fundy redneck types could care less and seem quite proud of their ignorance). Soooo, it gives them a sense of power and justification for their suffering ( oh how some of them inwardly would love to let down and party with the rest of us ) to gloat over our eternal destruction under the guise of righteous pity.
It's a simperingly polite and pathetically thinly disguised way of telling you that they hate your guts.
I really do know how these people think.

Don't we re-create the universe ourselves continuously every single day?

In reproduction and in what we build, do, write, develop and refine collectively?

Also in the places we moved to... America, Australia, Africa, New Zealand...?

Look back a thousand years. Where were the cities? There were wheels, boats, carts, kites made of bedsheets, no printing, not much paper, primitive dwellings generally, palaces, cathedrals and churches. There was wine but no whisky, rum, gin, snaps or vodka. There was mead but no beer. Less than a million people inhabited the British Isles - Celts, some descendants of Romans and Germanics. The French were yet to arrive.

America had natives but no Europeans, slaves or horses. Not for another 500 years. In the aftermath of the Black Death, the modern world began to develop from the 1600s. Medicine, science and politics began their separation from religion. We began to discover and think about the universe, about energy forms, about our physionomy and psychology, about the fact we were a globe, and began to really think about our meaning and purpose on it.

Look back a hundred years. Cars, trucks, hot air balloons, planes, submarines, gas, diesel, electricity, industrial machinery, factories, metal, coal and diamond mines, steel production, oil extraction from deep beneath the surface, morse radio, telegraphs, the beginnings of electrical technology etc., etc., etc.,

Look back twenty years. AT/XT IBM compatible computers, videos and tube tellies. Record players on the way out. CDs, no DVDs. 5/10/20MB hard disks, 4/8/16/32/128/256 kb memory chips. The first meg chips. 512 kb graphics cards. Green screen monitors. The first colour VGA VESA screens and boards. The first cellphones that you could carry in a pocket (but without doing your pocket much good) Imagine what a jet-setter you were back then with a half-pound brick cellphone.

Look back ten years. No ipods, no multi-core processors. 80GB hard disks. No SATA harddisks, no Windows XP, Vista or Seven. Few flat screen monitors or TVs. No DDR2 Ram.

WE are changing the universe at an accelerating geometric rate as the collective output of our energies and activities. In ten more years, we'll hardly recognise the technology level.

I can hardly wait...
