I would like to thank Iam for investing in a gold membership and adding cool visualizations to his posts. You're welcomed. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and on R&S , a thousand laughs too.

I like the new pictures too, Iam. Even if you're a little you make me and I never have to when I read what you say because you make sense.

You are an invisible person on the Internet This statement is not true people just think that it is true. No one is anonymous on the internet unless you go to an internet provider and pay cash with a false name to buy internet time. Even then there is a record of your IP address and the MAC address of your computer.
99.9% of the people are ignorant of the design of the internet and how you can be traced by your IP address or given a little information how someone can find out all about you with tracing tools.

I didn't mean it that way, Yash. I know we are not as anonymous as we think we are.
To me, the invisible people are those who hide behind their screens and type out words that they think mean something, but don't to the one who will never have any interaction with them in real life.

From my perspective, the words on the screen are real to me because they come from some real, breathing human being somewhere in the world. We often begin to know people to a small degree by what they write here. We are allowed a small glimpse into who that person is. From this place, that person's words matter because that person is a thinking, feeling human being, as I am.
I care about most people's thoughts and feelings, though I don't want to allow my caring to place me into a situation where I am negatively influenced or impacted by said individual. This is something I'm becoming more experienced at learning how to do over time.

Sure, the words come from real people, but often the person is not who or what they portray to be online.
Unless I have contact with a person off of the forums, I have no clue on who they really are. Therefore, it's not presonal, so I don't take it personally.

there are 3...three people on her that know anything substantial about me. Mom, ColdinWisconsin, and Pamdemonium. (and maybe Uncrazy and Iam)
Everybody else, I leave them to wonder.

Folks...you have no idea how surprised you would be if you knew how much other people do or could know about you....or how easy it is to gain that information.

Try,,,,
I am well aware of how powerful the internet is at obtaining information. Ever use Point of Mail? It's a nifty tool.
However, we're talking about THIS place. Not the net in general...

I think Goose, Mom, Soc, Jankia, SOC,Pastor Don,Sail and many others on here including iam are basically good people even if we don't agree on everything. How boring life would be if we all thought and acted the same way

However, we're talking about THIS place. Not the net in general... Who said anything about the net? Try? Its not a matter of having to try anything. Its inevitable....the views of people unseen can only be known by their words or actions. Everyones words in this forum are actions because there actions are words. Who you befriend, troll over, laugh at,agree or disagree with. Where you spend your time in a forum with many different subjects and which subjects do you ignore. How honest are you about yourself and does that honesty change because this is also a dating site. I could go on and on about how ridciulous it is to think that one can contribute in an online forum so often and think everyone knows nothing about them. Even if all one ever says is a lie..thats known about you quite early as well. You might think you can but you really cant hide behind what you write or where and how its written.

I agree, Jankia. I think people reveal quite a bit more about themselves than they realize here through their various blogs and their postings. They may not realize just how much they show, but if one is into reading other people through carefully analyzing and listening, one can see a lot that others just don't notice.
We can't "listen" with our ears here, but we can certainly pay attention, read, and reread people's thoughts via the written word, and many of these written thoughts scream volumes about the individual behind the monitor, anonymous as he or she may think they are being.

And this shows what we're really like outside the net?
That's funny.

Well, it's a dating site too, Goose, and it pays to be a bit analytical when one is seeking someone to date.
A lot of people hook up with others who use forums because we tend to know someone better when he or she is participating in forums and showing a little bit of themselves, versus the silent profile that just sits there and never puts forth a thing, doesn't blog, etc.

I think this OP should be about personal security, rather than emotional security. I have been on the internet since it was the Arpanet and then the text only inet before the graphical inet using Unix.
There are lurkers, scammers, sexual predators and some real crazy people who do take things personally and if something sets them off they could trace you to your home and cause you harm.
Today it is 1,000 times easier to trace someone as the tools to do so are on the internet itself.
Everyones writing style is like a finger print and if you read between the lines as well as what they write you can learn a lot about them as well.
