It's kind of inspiring really. Lately I've been talking to these people at work and other places. They are all really sweet. I've become friends with one of them.

I'm not sure of the religion, but dang these people freaking rock. They are so nice. They alway's tell me "God Bless You"...Thank me graciously for what I've done for them...And basically live as true people who believe in God and follow his words should.

No scheming, being critical and judging others. I like it. I have to say it's refreshing. I think they may be Pentecostal, I'm not 100% sure though.

I these few I've met are the epitome of what people who believe in God and follow his teachings should be.

I kind of miss the Hare Krishnas. They all seemed so happy, have clear skin because they're vegetarian and make awesome food with plenty of spices.

I remember those Moonies who all looked happy too. So happy it looked as if a plastic surgeon gave them smiles. They could talk, eat, walk down the street with big smiley faces. It never went away.

I don't think it has anything to do with control...

I think they are just really happy because they have faith and trust in God that everything will be allright for them...He will lead the way.

It must be nice to have that kind of trust in someone or something.

Even if it doesn't exist.

Being happy is easy when you believe all your problems are solved. Even when the bill comes in the mail, its just paper.

Exactly.

They only have their beliefs...And faith and that's enough...I think it's resfreshing. They aren't jaded like me.

It wasn't them I was talking about.

Love and let love I say. Unless one is completely incapable of it.

I have to say...I'm almost tempted to go to their church...Just to see what it's like...What is there that makes them feel so complete...

I'm a little jealous that they have that kind of faith...I've never had that in anything...It must be a good feeling.

Different things make people happy. Some love chocolate, others prefer vanilla. I think we all yearn for a simple life of prancing around in a garden, with a pretty waterfall and lake.

Well yeah, and what's the alternative? Worrying? Does that change anything? The honest truth is that I've found it does - it seems to make what I'm worrying about more likely to happen. My weather's gorgeous right now, but I know that won't last forever. Should I spend my time worrying about the inevitable discomfort or enjoy the weather while it's good?

And when the weather DOES turn nasty, I just remember how good it can be and have total faith that will happen again. When I'm hit by a death of someone I love, I cry and laugh at the same time - cry for my pain, laugh for the joy of having had that love, and knowing the pain is temporary but the joy is permanent. Pain and misery are temporary - we can choose to dwell on them and forego the joy, or not. Being happy isn't a condition, it's a choice.

Fen - I hate to tell you this, but just going to the church won't change a thing - it's all about you and what you really want and believe. And one of the keys to that is recognizing that you're a child of the universe - just keep reading Desiderata! Then join the church or not, you'll be happy either way.

John Freshwater really loves god. Although I'm not sure the child he tortured because of his beliefs does.

Well. I don't think they are all that way...I'm sure some of them are evil as old heck...Thing is though, that's not what I'm saying.

...Honestly...How many of you can sit there and say you feel 100% comfortable for whatever is awaiting you after death?

Whether it be nothing. Just dead in a box, rotting away, Just going to be bug food...Or spending your after deadness being happy and complete, with loved ones who've also passed on.

..Yeah I know I don't make much sense...I also switch ideas like crazy...These people are genuinely happy, the ones I've met anyway...no mailice in them at all...That is how I think all people who believe in God should be.

Yeah, yeah I know about serial killers, priests that molested kids...All that nastiness...Those aren't really people who believe in God the way he should be believed in. Those people are sick, insane and should be dealth with accordingly...Because if they truly believed in God and followed his words they wouldn't do any of that shiat.

That is a good point. Regardless of what their beleifs are, most people acknowledge that they ARE going to die. Just about everyone, Christian or non, has a fear or at least an uneasiness about the fact that they are going to die.

Some are so happy about that future state they have deadened parts of the mind in the here and now. If they wish you dead, it might be their way of wishing you well.

My worst fear is that I'll be really bored in the afterlife.

You are speaking for yourself because you are you and not others. I do not disagree with you in spirit I disagree with you in principle.

Consider this: Which is the real you? Your temporal body or an immortal spirit, soul, Chi or Life Force.

One choice says you are a Awakened One the other says you are still wrestling with exactly what you are inside of self.

Just about everyone, Christian or non, has a fear or at least an uneasiness about the fact that they are going to die.
What is dieing? is the question!

Excellent question...

Most believers I know....believers but not fanatics (it's what they believe in and that's just how it is) really believe they're going to heaven. And that seems to give them great comfort. Crutch or not, it seems to get them through quite nicely...

And honestly, as a non believer, there are times when I kind of envy them their belief & trust in that. As I get older and move closer to "the end" for me, it's sometimes a pretty uncomfortable thought, as I don't believe in any afterlife, good or bad....

Exactly...it's so simple. For myself...I'd prefer to think that there is something after this. More than being bug fodder or earthworm food.

I'd think I'd be more at peace if I were close to dying if I had faith in the fact I would move on to a better place. Instead of being unsure...

That would suck because you can't kill yourself if you're already dead.
