Google Insights for Search works by entering a search term and Google will return statistics on what regions are using that search term. You can do this world wide or just focus on the United States.
For example.
Set your Filter to United States. Leave the rest at the default.
Search term "child porn torrent"
1. Florida
2. Texas
3. California
4. New York
5. Wyoming
6. West Virginia
7. Wisconsin
8. Washington
9. Vermont
10. Virginia
Florida has the most searches of that term. Torrent is a file sharing system. A lot of people in Florida are looking for child porn. Texas is next and so on. The news does report a lot of pedophiles coming from Florida.
Search term "farm animal sex" gets you this.
1. Arkansas
2. Mississippi
3. Maine
4. Oklahoma
5. Tennessee
6. Kentucky
7. Louisiana
8. Kansas
9. Wisconsin
10. Iowa
They sure love farm animals. Moooooo Baaaaaa.... OK, its possible to misinterpret the data. This doesn't imply farmers are having sex with their animals. Use a better search time like "bestiality".

I think this is a very useful tool to do research but it must be correlated to other research. Its called, Insight for Search. All it gives you is some insight into what people are looking up by logistics.
You can click on the state and drill down too.

1. Alaska What the hell are they doing in Alaska? Having sex with seals and penguins? I was born and raised in Alaska and there are plenty of land animals to have sex with if someone is so inclined. But, I doubt anyone is going to chase a bear, moose, deer etc. for sexual gratification. More likely it's their dog or cat, but I'm only guessing. Anyway, since animals can't give their consent to sex with humans, it's rape.
